I'm kind of sure that Matt got shot five times with his own shots.

Matt wasn't shot, he had bullets thrown at him. Who knows if Sylar can project bullets as fast as a gun can. My guess, since Matt survived, would be that he cant.

Of course, then there's always the possibility that DL was hit in a vital organ and Matt got lucky.

i think peter is a product of his envoiroment he doesnt know hu he is but all of his life that he remembers hes been with psychos so he does have that vicous streak in him

they were thrown at him with enough force to both pierce his skin and knock him down.If they could do that then they were easily near organs.

and what organs are in the shoulder might i ask?DL's grave was shown with Mica and Nikki over ti,it also then homed in on Peters hands phasing through the rope. He couldve just as easily burnt the rope but they chose phasing and all that was in the same episode.....there is a connection there

if you watch 2 episodes in particular then you will notice his powers.....firstly the alternate future where he faces Sylar in the corridor flames come off his hands which he then uses to attack Sylar with and in the finale.his hands are glowing and with teh intensity of the heat he produces he could easily burn through the rope and with him being completely unaware of his powers etc he couldve used that without knowing its full potential

it was an alternate future - a "what if" future; Peter doesn't have that power.
