As the firefight between Coulson's team and the HYDRA agents progresses, they find themselves pinned down behind a steel reinforced concrete wall at the edge of the malls parking lot. Skye fell behind them in the hectic moments following the first wave of HYDRA's assault, and is about to be set upon, when Ward intervenes, quickly felling her potential assailants.
"Hail HYDRA" he says straight faced, to which Skye replies "not funny"... pop..pop...Skye instinctively wipes the fluid from her face, then notices two spots on Ward's upper chest pooling in ever expanding circles. She catches him as he falls..."raincheck on the coffee" he says quietly, then passes as swiftly as he came into her life.
"Stupid, love sick bastard, that's what he gets for not listening to my stories" says Garrett, laughing. Suddenly his grin changes to concern, then, to outright fear as Skye looks up, eyes the color and texture of acidic lava, her body radiating an impossible amount of heat.
Coulson and May were still behind the wall when the blast wave hit, Phil cursing whatever idiot thought it was necessary to drop a daisy cutter in such a densely populated area. May is up first, staring straight ahead as if not comprehending what she's looking at. Coulson peeks cautiously over the wall too, eyes widening in disbelief.
Close up of Skyes face, tears gently rolling down her cheeks. The camera pulls back slowly, revealing a massive crater, with Skye at it's epicentre.
End of season one.
