Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Chloe Bennet IS Skye

well they'll have to come up with a pretty compelling reason for Skye to start calling herself by the name briefly mentioned by her mass-mudering-just-introduced-to-her-and-self-admitted-"monster"-of-a-father

I'd rather she was Skye, codenamed Quake. We're used to Skye, and it's a cooler name than Daisy anyways

This, I think it would be weird for the people around her to suddenly start calling her something else. Unless they can come up with a very good reason to do so, I would think its weird. Especially for the people who do not read the comics as they are probably not familiar or very familiar with Daisy anyway.

I think this confirms what I said. They're going with Daisy Johnson.

I'd be really pointless to specifically introduce "Daisy Johnson" and then never call her that. Especially if they give her the same powers (I fully believe that she caused the collapse at the end of the episode without realizing it). What, are the comics just going to suddenly start calling Daisy "Skye" out of nowhere (given what they just did to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's backstory SOLELY to line up with the films, I wouldn't put it past them).

I suspect that the team will continue to call her Sky, but her father will definitely be calling her Daisy from now on... Maybe even Raina if she allies with Cal...

I randomly saw Chloe in a BIGBANG music video and hadn't realized she was actually Asian

what did they do to their backstory?

I still didn't know which character she was actually supposed to be, when I watched the episode. I expected her to suddenly take off and fly away, after she broke out of the stone. :funny:

what did they do to their backstory?

In today's AXIS Scarlet Witch casts a spell to curse her bloodline and
Magneto was not effected confirming he is not their real father.

So where are all the people now who were convinced that Skye was Jessica Drew despite nothing lining up at all?

Pretty sure it was mostly clues that Kyle's character was Mr. Hyde. The fact that he was a doctor, all the allusions to him being "a monster," and the way Kyle played it as if he had like a split personality or a Hulk-like situation where he could snap any moment. The fact that the Mr. Hyde of the comics had a daughter who was a SHIELD agent and had inherited his mutant gene and eventually developed superpowers of her own only further supported it, since that seemed to be the direction they were clearly suggesting with Skye from the moment her father was first brought into it. Of course, this version tweaked that part a bit to where Skye's mom was an Inhuman, but since they couldn't use "mutants" at all in the MCU, it still worked as a theory. Then last week, of course, there was the "Daisy, Daisy" song on the music box, and it seemed pretty clear.

Mr. Hyde isn't a mutant in the comics and since inhumans are standing in for mutants in the MCU I hope they don't make him an inhuman here. Hyde is an old fashioned not born with powers/accident-type villain and the MCU needs those around as well for variety. Skye getting her inhuman-ness from her mother is plenty ok in my opinion.

I hope her dad will eventually gain some powers as well, not from the crystals though. I liked that he pretty much had all the qualities of Mr. Hyde, but was basically just a normal guy. Just totally crazy and angry.

I think he already has powers, we just haven't seen them yet(which is getting annoying to me). Probably due to the SFX costs for TV.

Definitely. And they showed him to be simultaneously cunning and brutal. That's one neat thing about Mr. Hyde -- he's equally credible as a crafty schemer and as a brutal thug. A lot of villains are classified either as master planners or as thugs, but Hyde shows elements of both types in his numerous stories over the years

Well, we know he already has some super strength. I suspect we'll learn later how he got his strength, and I'll bet we'll see him get more powers later.

I hope they don't just cheap out and have him with superstrength without any sort of real physical transformation. I already got sick of mira-kuru super strong guys on Arrow in season 2.

If he has super strength, it's still pretty minimal. Otherwise I don't think Coulson would have gotten back up. I think his adrenaline is running wild, whenever he gets his rage on. But he still doesn't have proper super strength.

That's why I said I think he already has all of his powers. We just haven't seen it for cost/sfx reasons is my guess. I sure hope he says a non-inhuman superpowered character. We need to keep that variety. We're about to be inundated with plenty of inhumans anyway.

I don't think he has his strength unless he physically transforms...which, you know...he didn't.

Yeah I believe we have yet to see Hyde. Also ditto on him not being Inhuman, one of my worst fears is someone getting to clever in trying to tie everything together. The more power origins the better.

Ok, if we'll eventually see him transform, what are you all expecting? Some Hulk like transformation, with him getting really huge, or should he just get a body builder stand-in?

I predict some kind of Hulk-like transformation. How big he gets or how disfigured he becomes as a result of the transformation is anyone's guess.

Yeah, I would like to see a wide range of power origins. We know, for example, that Blizzard isn't an Inhuman. He got his powers from that accident with the weather machine he invented.

He doesn't have to be Hulk sized. A bodybuilder body double would do, I think. Some CGI will be necessary, I guess but he doesn't need to be a completely CGI character.

Same with Graviton.
