Chris Hemsworth is Thor

They might have the arm double in for now until the actual filming starts. The studio might not believe at this point he is big enough.

Like I said before, I think they are just doing Dailies to send back to the studios for approval. Maybe by January Chris will put on more muscle to the satisfaction of the studio.

Oh, I'm not judging it, I just literally didn't know if that's what an arm double was. So long as it's seamless in the finished movie, I don't really care if all we see of Hemsworth is his head.

I wonder if the teaser trailer will literally just be of slow tracking shot of Thor's arm holding the hammer and summoning the lightning, interspersed with some dramatic looking words on-screen?

Wouldnt particularly need Hemsworth for that.

True. Although, it's released in 2011, right? I don't think they need to be in any rush to release a teaser.

Yeah, but they probably know how rabid fanboys can get when you dont feed them anything. lol.

i got a question, i dont know a great deal about thor. Basically alll i know is hes a god. Does he really act like he does in the avengers animated movies, or was that just some lame thing they put in to draw some humor. They basically depicted him as a joke to the rest of the avengers and that he was a really arrogant type of person. I just hope hes not gonna be portrayed like that in the movie. I was wondering what hes like in the comics.

The Avengers animated series is more or less based on Ultimate Avengers, which is an alternate version of the characters. The classic Thor-which the movie will be closer to-is highly respected throughout the Marvel Universe. He has moments of arrogance, and in fact that is one of the themes of the movie supposedly. Thor in the comics is torn between his love of Asgard (home of the gods) and his love of Earth, or Midgard as they call it. But the traditional comic version of Thor is very noble, very heroic, and is close friends with many of the other Avengers. I would say he (naturally) admires Captain America most of all. But he is neither a jerk or an ass in the comics.

I think Cap lifts Mjolnir in #390, actually.

Must-reads for Thor, in my opinion, are Ages of Thunder, Tales of Asgard (which should be getting a trade soon, thankfully), Son of Asgard, Blood Oath, the Simonson run, Jurgens' King Thor saga, Ragnarok, and the current series.

Cheers for this I shall get some when I next visit my local comic store :D

You gotta get yourself some marvel masterworks volumes of Thor as well. Stan and Jack`s stuff is the bomb!

I think the arm double makes sense for a teaser trailer. This is something that can be shown at Showest and get the marketing people excited about this lesser known Marvel property. It will also get the movie out to the general movie going public that may not be hanging out on comic boards all day! :woot:

^^The Perfect Getaway - This was shot last year, not a bad foundation to build up on

Potentially he could be freaking huge by early next year

I hope he keeps the beard for Thor. It makes him look much more Viking-esque.

I find it odd that classic Thor was always clean shaven though, since in ancient Norway if you didn't have a beard you were considered a wuss.

The comics explained that as the Vikings being influenced by the Asgardians but getting some stuff wrong.

LOL. That's certainly a convenient way to cover their asses for historical innacuracy. "No, we didn't get it wrong, the people 500 years ago did!"

BTW, the vikings were also wrong about Thor having a hammer. He actually had a skateboard that he rode on a halfpipe of clouds which made the sound of thunder, and every time he did a grind the sparks turned into lightning. ;)

If this were still the early '90s, you could've just made a fortune on a new Thor comic. ;)

so is their any current photos besides that year old pic from above of chris out in the public or what not.

ok thank for the pics i havent been to the thor threads much and didnt want to go searching around.
