Tyler actually gave Thor a theme which I thought was great. He referenced it in AoU.

I have no idea what his theme is now, but the theme Doyle gave him in the first movie was awesome and super memorable.

First time commenting here and its on a new thread.

But i really don't want to get in a Marvel vs DC discussion since i love both comic companies to death, remember guys were living in the Superhero Renaissance, an age where there will be 40+ cbm films in less then 5 years for all to enjoy!!

Exciting times are ahead of us!!

Well, I got the opposite, the feelings you mention I got with the Thor score the instant I heard it, it just purveyed every feeling in the movie perfectly for me. And it seemed like music for an ancient God and his home.

I don't think the TDW was bad, but it was a step down from the first one IMO.

I really enjoy both scores, and those are actually the two superhero scores that I remembered a major theme in for the longest time after seeing it (I'm clearly a Thor fan, but I at least doubt my ability to remember music fits into any possible bias there). But just for comparison I think the first score feels a bit to light and airy to convey the age and might of Thor and Asgard as well as the second score.

Going into Ragnarok I also think the heavier and mightier sound fits better than the happier sound of the first, given what the scope and stakes are. But as said before, I hope the composer can take the best parts and then develop it further.

I do remember both themes, I think both are great but I slightly prefer the one from the first movie. I think the quality of TDW is the reason why I don't appreciate the score as much as the first one.

I don't usually remember scores in general, but the only Marvel theme I remember is the one from the first Avengers movie. I could hum Zimmerman's Batman and Superman themes at the drop of a hat, though (as well as Elfman's and Williams's).

This is one of my favorite things in the MCU.

ya that's not bad, but for me pales in comparison to the first theme

I think the MCU took a major misstep when they didn't continue on with this theme and the CFA theme in their sequels, with reappearances in the Avengers movies. They are the only 2 themes that do anything for me in the MCU. If they had continued, these themes probably would have become iconic.

Tyler and Jackman do reference Caps theme though both in TWS and AoU respectively.

Yeah, in TWS it played in the very beginning with Steve running. I don't remember it in AoU though...

I love that theme but I also like the theme that plays during the TWS credits, it really fits that movie well.

It played in AoU during the scene where Cap is dodging the cars in South Korea.

Ant-Man now has more sequels announced than Superman. Not bad for flavor of the week.

Man of Steel 2 was announced it just doesn't have a date.

It's interesting how a lot of the Marvel date changes can be interpreted many ways:

- One can see how moving Black Panther from July 2018 to February 2018 makes sense on paper, as February is Black History Month. One could also see it as a jab to DC, as BP will be the first big superhero film with a black lead. It comes a month before WB's The Flash on March 23, 2018 -- which will have a LGBT actor headlining.
- Moving Captain Marvel from November 2018 to March 2019 makes more sense, as there have been several female-led films that have done big business in March (Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, The Hunger Games, Divergent). However, it could also be seen as Marvel wanting to steer clear of the Ben Affleck solo Batman film, which has a rumored November 2018 date. Also can be seen to be the first big movie of 2019 before DC's scheduled film on April 2019.

I think WB might move some dates around in response.

I forgot about that Batfleck solo movie rumor, if that turns out true then I can see why they chose to move CM as Batman would've devoured it...

Are you talking about the next Ant-Man film where he'll share top-billing with another Marvel heroine? Kind of the like the next Superman film coming out next year where he shares top billing with another DC hero?

Apples and oranges for too many reasons to count.

Silly comparisons aside, DC seriously needs to get on MoS2, though.

Comparing Ant Man sharing billing with Wasp to Superman sharing billing with Batman is like comparing Batman sharing billing with Robin to Captain America sharing billing with Iron Man. Its the definition of a strawman argument.
