Thought this was pretty cool - USC's marching band did a Guardians of the Galaxy themed halftime show.

That's pretty cool. For as much cr** as many give them for annoyingly playing the same 2-3 songs over and over during games, they are one of the best marching bands in the US.

Whatever the reason, action stuff in WW looks just too similar to what Snyder does.
How does it, "look to similar"? Like why is that a thing? I'd love it if the MCU had action that actually looked similar. Too often I can't imagine these people fighting each other because of how low rent some of it looks.

Compare the clip of Justice League where she rescues those people to the warehouse in wonder woman. The former is used in a more Snydery way. The speed ramping emphasizes how kewl it all is. The slow mo in WW is used more to emphasize her body's strength, durability and speed.

Patty took Snyder's aesthetic and made it better. Whereas Nolan took Mann's aesthetic and made it worse.

Nothing is set in stone.

True, but all the planning and work that it takes for certain action scenes seems like studios would want them to still happen. What happens between those scenes are easier to change.

It's way better. The use of slow mo is put to better service.
Just as bad. But it's not only slo-mo. Overall aesthetic too. Backgrounds ablaze, overly "cinematic" angles and close-ups, constant switch of speed.

The background is actually watchable. Not smeared mud like Snyder movies.

Its true. But looking at a lot of these movies, the things that change the most are the action scenes. Little bits here and there, or in the case of something like the Hobbit, massively.

Anyone remember december 2007 when the first TDK trailer hit? Those were the days. There was a thousand people watching.

I remember the original teaser, with the shattered symbol.

The title of this thread is hilarious right now. It should be changed to "general comic book discussion thread".

Yeah, that was tame.

We had a bunch create a website just so they could talk bad about us. One found out my address and phone number....posted it and encouraged people to harass me. They took pictures one mod had posted of his little girl and photoshopped pornographic pictures and words over it. They made fun of how two staff member's babies had died. A bunch of swell mannered gentlemen there.

Holy... I know the internet is a vile place, but that is incomprehensible. C., I have a newfound respect for you guys putting up with that junk and still always being so professional.

All hail the cult of Snyder. I do find a lot of criticism of Jenkins veers to the sexist/misogynistic side.

After all, a woman cannot achieve anything without it just really be due to a man's charity. :whatever:

The attempts to discredit WW almost always feels like we are getting into that territory.

Staying up late waiting for people to unlock trailers and stuff from the scavenger hunts was so fun.

I hate some of Snyder's action and I hate majority of action in WW. And the reason is the same. It has nothing to do with misandry or misogyny.

Yes, I have noticed that. Not saying it is the main reason around here (though I've seen a bit of it on the Hype too). But there is very much a "it's only popular because of girl power and 'current events'" mentality out there. And you can hear the sneer with their euphemisms. Others still don't bother with the coded terms.

That movie was so good that it turned my parents, two avid Batman haters, into actual fans of the character. That's a job well done!

Sometimes, but the Marvel vs. DC thing is enough to explain a lot of it.

DCEU fans want desperately for WW to reflect well on Snyder, and Marvel fans want desperately to be able to dismiss WW as a failure along with the rest of it.

I'm generalizing, of course, but it is an obvious tendency.

It isn't dismissing or disliking WW. It is how many dismiss WW. Those are two different things.

Giving the entire credit for the movie to Chirs Pine, calling it basic and generic while they praise over such movies with male leads, dismissing the box office success by claiming it only did so because it is rare, saying it didn't do well overseas after making 400m there, off the back of the disasters that were BvS and SS. People can worship Feige who hasn't actually directed a movie, but Patty gets no credit.

Like the entire argument pro Marvel is that people like it and continue to like it. But that isn't enough for WW.

I still can't believe how badly WB handled the DCEU outside of WW.

Marvel hammered them, and in their desperation they turned to a man they didn't fully understand.
