Yes, which is why Wonder Woman has a ton of pressure on it. If it isn't good, that won't be where the blame is placed. The quality won't matter.Wouldn't making a bad female-led movie that basically kills the character be worse than not making one at all?
But anyway, I understand your apprehension. BvS has made things interesting, to say the least.
But then again, she could just be biased towards her and the other female characters.Does Suicide Squad count as a female-led CBM?
According to Cara Delevigne, the three women have the three most interesting parts.

It's a good step but female-led solo hero films are going to be more important I think. WW is crucial and Cap Marvel will also be very important.Does Suicide Squad count as a female-led CBM?

Maybe it's because he's being played by Will Smith, but I always assumed Deadshot would be the "lead" character.
I think Harley Quinn will be the main character, but it's more of an ensemble, really.

Grace Randolph just posted a video about MCU vs DCCU directors where she characterizes MCU directors as formulaic (but successful, not necessarily an insult) and DCCU directors as auteurs (directors with distinct artistic styles). Thoughts? Makes sense to me.
Finally saw Civil War.
No doubt this movie was made as a reaction to Batman V Superman. They took BVS' collateral damage plot and did it 10 times better.
They also did everything BVS tried to do and failed at, including launching new heroes and franchises in an organic manner.
The fight between Cap and Tony was actually emotional and over something that actually mattered.
If future critics and audiences have a 'Marvel Bias,' it's honestly justified at this point. They've earned it.
WB/DC has a big pit to climb out of, and they'll never be able to catch up now.

I haven't seen it yet, but I don't "think" it was made in reaction to BvS. CW isn't new by any means and the previous Avenger films (esp AoU) were leading us to this point.
That the Russos did a better job isn't particularly surprising. They killed it in TWS.
I think it has more to do with how much the director's creative voice comes through in DCCU so far. Can't speak to Wan and Jenkins but both have made names for themselves. I don't think that the Marvel directors are less artistic, it's just that their movies get passed through a Marvel filter for the integrity of the brand. Coogler should be interesting!T"Challa;33578461 said:What makes James Wan, Patty Jenkins, Seth Grahame Smith any more of an auteur than James Gunn, Ryan Coogler, Joss Whedon, Favreau etc?
I think that term 'auteur' gets thrown around a lot and there are very few directors that truly deserve that label
