Clark not flying..Its just getting stupid....

he isnt superman thats what the show is about. how he became superman besides, flight doesn't really define who superman is what he stands for does.

yea, but it is one if his most most useful and iconic powers.

It's technically not his most useful, as we've seen he can get by without having flight.

can he fly into space and destroy an asteroid heading to earth, can he fly to the sun and power himself, can he follow martian manhunter or Kara into space? flying is essential part of the character, or else he would just be flash with super strength.

And invulnerability, heat vision, ice breath, x-ray vision, super hearing....

yah, just like the flash. :whatever:

Alright, fine.

can he fly into space and destroy an asteroid heading to earth,
Theoretically, he could. He hasn't needed to. and probably -wont- need to. Considering this is Smallville, and not Armageddon or Deep Impact.

can he fly to the sun and power himself
I don't like the concept of him being able to breathe in space, so I'd chose to disregard this part. He's got plenty of solar radiation on earth.
can he follow martian manhunter or Kara into space?

No? Kara's flown into the atmosphere, but hasn't flown in space. I'm not sure why he would -have- to follow them into space, or the atmosphere for that matter, anyway.

Yes. Superman can fly. Is it essential that he learns to fly? Yes. Simply enough, he just hasn't -needed- it yet. One day, he'll learn. As of right now, it's not essential.

I'm pretty sure this is space:

:D

We'll get Clark flying soon gang. Hang tight. ;)

I don't mind the non-flight. But it was THE SECOND episode that they opened it with him floating...next, he said that e "willed himself" to fly during the tornado in the first season's finale, and they haven't done anything with it since. They don't show anymore of Clark (not Red K Clark, not Bizzaro Clark, not Kal-El Clark) but Clark. I wish I saw him float again or something. All we've had of him flying willingly was: Floating while dreaming about Lana, Willing himself through the tornado, and waking up in the caves after flying in his sleep.....I just wish they didn' t abandon this.

Yeah, it does seem a little silly, that they would touch on it in the early episodes, then scrap it. I think the spontaneous floating had something to do with the changes he was going through. The fact that he didn't have a grasp on his powers. Who knows.

There is no argueing the fact that flying around is the most iconic signiture of Superman. He was one of the first, if not, the first superhero to ever take the skies. Him not flying around, means he's not really Superman. At the least he should leap great distances, not 'float'.

That is your opinion. If he had flight, as well as his current powers, he'd be twice the hero he is now.

Im sure he could jump at the asteroid really really really hard and break it. lol

He was still Superman when he 'leaped tall buildings with a single bound' so why should him flying make him any less superman.

and this show isnt about superman its about the kid who would one day become superman

I don't think you understood what I said. I never said that a flying Clark Kent is 'any less superman'. I said that if they don't want him to fly, than the least they can do to make Clark more Superman-ish is to make him leap great distances. Don't make it any more complicated.

1)In that episode where he stoped the nuke by jumping up and disarming it ..how did he get back down to earth ;)

2)I think it's simple why he doesn't fly ..it's too expensive. Now it might have gotten cheaper as new techniques have been implemented thus why we have seen Kara fly lately. Before they would have had to use it sparingly between eps and when they did'nt have him fly people would be like ''oh why did'nt he just fly like he did last episode''.

Now if you want to get scientfic why can Superman fly ?What makes him fly ?

Strength comes naturally he just lift's something and relizes he is strong.
Speed again he runs normal next thing he is moving very quickly
invulnerability It's just there he puts his hand in a shedder and nothing happen's
X=Ray vision Suddenly effected him and he had to learn to control it..after having a look in the girls locker room..well done ;)
Heat VisionSuddenly happpened when he got horny and had to learn to controlit
Super hearing Manifested it self when he was blinded

Flying he is going to have to learn it wont just happen.

That all said I would like to see him fly at some point
