The Dark Knight Rises Comic Geek Speak pitches their Batman 3: Agree/Disagree?

In the recent episode of CGS (928), they talked about Batman in the comics today leading up to their own ideas for Batman 3, leading towards their pitch for what they want/what they hope for in the third and final Nolan Batman film.

*The villains are Hugo Strange and Talia Al Ghul.

*After TDK; Batman is still being hunted, and because there are crimes going on currently that more severe that is said to be caused by Batman, the Gotham Police hires Strange as a profiler for the "Batman-problem". Bruce Wayne, because of his act in the last two films, is told by the board of directors that in order to keep his company he must see a psychiatrist who happens to be Strange. The weight of the city and the events of TDK where he framed himself is coming on to Bruce, and at a unnamed event, he meets Talia but doesn't know her last name or her family. What we find out later is that Strange is being financed and was given a copy of the same batsuit Bruce uses by Talia, in revenge toward the death of her father, and Strange is using that to commit crimes, the same ones the police hired him to profile Batman, all at the same time trying to treat Bruce.

*They see the third film (from their pitch above) in the vein of the film Se7en; as a horror thriller coming from the crimes and from Strange as a scientist as well where he could create "monsters" out of people who are alive for only two hours, and have them fight Batman.

*No Catwoman, because Talia makes more sense.

*If anything, they are open for the Riddler or any classic but already seen villain in the first 10 minutes, but not in the whole film.

*They feel that because Strange is pretending to be Batman, they could use that to undo the ending to TDK and have Batman back as the protector and not a criminal.

*They are against, regardless of the planned DCE, the idea of other DCU-related characters in the film as it won't make it a Batman film.

*And finally, the title of the film should be "Shadow of the Bat". Because, as a theme, asks if its good or bad to live in Batman's shadow.

Fan-related? Yeah, but a good one nonetheless. Agree or disagree?

I don't like the idea of Talia, and I think there needs to be a third villain in there, like the Riddler.

Strange is certainly an interesting villain, and if he did wear the Batsuit and was then exposed as a murderer later on, it could let Batman off the hook and back as Gotham's guardian and not it's villain. By having the Monster Men we could have some good action scenes as well.
The Talia aspect feels tacked on though, give me Selina Kyle any day.
It's an interesing idea but needs fleshing out. I'd love to see a well written Hugo Strange on film, and he's ideal for Nolan, but I doubt if he has enough box-office clout for the brass.

Yeah, those two villains are gonna bring bums on seats. Seriously, every time I hear that Talia 'makes more sense than Catwoman' no-one bothers to explain why. There's nothing that Talia brings to the table that Catwoman cannot equally bring, infact Catwoman brings more because she's so much like Bruce.

There's nothing that Talia brings to the table that Catwoman cannot equally bring, infact Catwoman brings more because she's so much like Bruce.

I's say no Hugo Strange for sure, but I'd be open to Talia, not replacing Catwoman, but I wouldn't mind seeing her in the film. I think it'd be a nice tie to Begins.

And why create "monsters" when he could create "monsters", in terms of Arkham freaks.

It just sounds too basic and thin.

Well,Talia would be the only one able to give Strange a suit identical to that of Batman's,considering her supposed knowledge of Bruce's training and methods.

I like the idea of a Batman imposter 'killing off Harvey and committing to those crimes' though.

Sounds to me like they're trying to be more niche to seem like they're 'hardcore'. Which is corny, imo. Even if I like both characters in the books.

Don't like it in general, but the one thing that I really found strange was that Bruce is forced to see a shrink in order to keep his company. I don't ever see that as being plausible.

This idea isn't so bad. The basic concept of the plot is ok, but I'm not too keen on the deails. I'd replace Talia with Selina. You need to have at least one recognizable name from the rogues' gallery to draw in mainstream moviegoers. I'd also ditch The Shadow of the Bat and Just call it The Batman or simply Batman.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fact that Hugo Strange will be both working with the police to catch Batman AND that he'll also be treating Bruce.

Contrived much? Too coincidental in my tastes. I like Strange as Bruce's villain though.

Nolan will do the movie how he knows best, hopefully he wont listen to any exagerated sugestions. He knows what best for the franchise, NOT fans.
