The Dark Knight Rises Concerns about TDKR

My only concerns right now is the new batmobile and the bat cave, which are pretty minor really. I like what I've heard so far.

1960's fashion is making a wicked comeback b/c of the popularity of Mad Men. While I like that pocket square handkerchiefs with suits are now a dominant fashion trend, I'm not thrilled that ties are becoming thin and skinny as well. So I hope Lindy Hemming doesn't wardrobe Bruce Wayne with thin, skinny ties.

this is a concern?!?

Yes. The thin, skinny style of ties from the 60s look horrible. Unfortunately, they are becoming popular again along with pocket square handkerchiefs. The handkerchiefs coming back are ok, the thin ties are not.

I can corroborate that skinny ties are becoming popular again. I've noticed a few of my friend's facebook photos in the past few month in which the ratio of skinny to wide ties was 2:1 and counting.

So if Bruce is wearing a skinny tie, the film is fail?

1. Bringing Robin is a bad idea. The story should focus more on Bruces character and the villains.
2. The voice of batman.
3. Too many villains might cause the same mistake as other movies.

Im hoping Nolan recognizes these things. I'm not worried about Catwoman & Bane cause Nolan is going to make them real as possible in his world.

im with you on that first one

The Batman voice isnt bad, it just needs to be a little softer in spots instead of always "You'll pee in a vat of Jello forever"

I think for that last one, Catwoman wont be considered a "villain", although im probably wrong, in this series. more like another love interest for Bruce. now, if you combine Bane as a problem for Batman and someone like Hush as a problem for Bruce, it could be balanced really well

this strawman argument crap is getting really old.

It seems you can't have a discussion or banter without somebody throwing that card in. :whatever:

That's a strawman argument.

My post deals with concerns I have about TDK, specifically Wayne's wardrobe in the film.

Don't make up assumptions that have nothing to do with my point.

I apologize, but you did make it clear that skinny ties, although are becoming popular once again, will degrade the film in some way.

Villain overkill and interaction is a big concern of mine. How Nolan handles the interaction between Bane, Catwoman, and Batman is essential to the movie working or not. If these stories aren't connected properly, the movie will turn into a disjointed mess like B&R or SM3.

haha it amazes me how they managed to kill off 2 of the 3 villains in SM3. maybe Sandman got killed when the wind blew him into the ocean :oldrazz:

I'd like to think that Nolan wouldn't have come back if he honest-to-God didn't want to. I'd be a little disappointed if he was doing it in a "Well, it would be worse without me" scenario.

well, Batman is a very interesting character. If i had the chance to make a film about him, i would definetely take it

Regarding Nolan being pushed, you do know that if he turned it down WB would still go ahead and make another without him, even if they had to recast the thing. Batman is their cash cow along with Scooby Doo.

Bingo. Nolan was never pushed to do anything, WB waited for him for crying out loud, which is almost unheard of by a movie studio these days. He was not contracted and was under no obligation to return to the franchise. Chris most certainly wouldn't have come back unless he felt he had one more story left to tell, it wasn't about money or loyalty to the series or studio, it was about there being one more interesting story left to tell.

LET IT BE CLEAR...

NOLAN DOESN'T CONDONE SKINNY TIES.

He will not compromise.

You think Nolan's concerned with ties?

It's all about the vests, son!

Anyone else believe the vest is the source of all his powers? :hehe:

I, like a few people, have reservations about returning to LOS/Ra's and an abundance of primary character fatigue.

What I'd like to see is people list the specific things they fear in regards to this film.

I believe a few re-occuring ones I've seen:

-uninterested in seeing the League of Shadows appear again
-overcrowding of new, important characters
-how Catwoman will fit in

I'm not giving justification for these, just thought we could have a list of peoples fears in regards to the film. I'm a huge fan of Nolan and this series, but it's ok to get them out there :oldrazz:

I'd voice my fears, but someone will swoop in and do the old quote split dissection deal explaining why my opinion is wrong, and it hardly feels worth the trouble.
