The Dark Knight Rises Concerns about TDKR

I've really no concerns at all. Nolan's earned my trust to deliver a solid Batman movie twice over. Especially with TDK.

My concern is we'll get more childish comments like this one for the next year and a half.

And while it's quoted, I disagree with all those concerns. I've learned the finish product is what matters most, and after TDK, Nolan has earned my complete trust.

This

Yeah i know that, but it can still be jaw dropping even without that stuff as opposed to being boring and flat like the bunker.
The Batcave in "Begins" was fine. All it needs for TDKR are a couple of tweaks and it should be good to go. The bunker in TDK was temporary. It didn't matter that it looked like an abandoned department store because it was only being used until Wayne Manor was rebuilt.

It was an empty cave with a closet. It needs like a 1000 tweaks before it can be called "the batcave".

And that's the only reason it gets a pass. It was pretty cool to be honest, especially how everything could sink in the floor, but it was too brightly lit to be batman's HQ. Anyway...

My only concern really, is if they use the mob again. I don't want Bane connected to the mob or the LOS. Hopefully the LOS won't be in this film.

I'm concerned about not using Chicago again. It's weird that we haven't heard anything about it, besides hearing about LA and London being used.

If they choose to pick another location, maybe New York would be ideal. Not Detroit though.

They re going to shoot in Detroit or New Orleans if i remember correctly. I guess it has to do with costs.

It was never confirmed though with Detroit or even New York. I heard that New Orleans is out of the picture.

I'd be happy even if they just combined the bunker with the cave as it was before -- and maybe tossed in Lucius' bajillion screened imaging machine thing.

I honestly couldn't be more disappointed by today's news. I really wanted Catwoman and another villain, but I didn't want Anne Hathaway.

Anne Hathaway is a mediocre actress, who doesn't have the look of Catwoman at all. She's very much still a Disney Princess type actress and even her more serious roles - yes, I've seen them - don't compare to the tonality and ferocity I would expect from the Catwoman. I will restrain from making too harsh a criticism on her yet for fear of becoming like those who doubted Heath early on, however, I will say that my expectations are low, and of all the other actresses he had in talks for the lead female role, she is by far the most disappointing choice - as an actress, and as Catwoman.

As for Bane, I admit to being completely boggled by his inclusion into the film. I see that Nolan is quoted as saying he will be 're-imagined' but the essence of the character is brutish and more a follower/venom addict than a lead villain ala Joker or Ra's. If Nolan wants to change him completely to some mob boss or something, then he had a whole variety of other characters from which to pick. Penguin and Black Mask being two very plausible characters that could easily be adapted to the Nolanverse without compromising who the characters are.

I hesitate to say that this is a bad start, however, as this was my most anticipated announcement of this year, I am EXTREMELY disappointed. I'm sure it will be a fine film, but I feel like a lot of potential has now been narrowed to simply keeping this film afloat.

The only reason why I can think of them using these two villains is to distinguish this film and its villains from everything - Tim Burton, BB and TDK. Since they couldn't have Heath back it seems like they went for the farthest thing from him... Here's to hoping it's not a joke...

If it is as extravangant as in the comics it'd be sweet, but i honestly dont see it happening. Still, it can be really awesome even without all the comicbooky stuff. For example the batcave in Forever was pretty sweet i think.

No it wouldn't be sweet it would be asstastic.

That's the point: just be prepared to be disappointed because it seems like you're only going to be happy with

A) big dinosaurs

or

B) unnecessarily elaborate catwalks

My concerns:

- Bane will be a major letdown after the Joker.

- The plot will be a convoluted mess.

- Anne Hathaway won't look good as Selina and I'll have to read page after page of fanboys whining about what a "dog" she is.

- The relationship between Batman and Catwoman will be lackluster due to subpar writing, acting, or both.

I was talking to some people who worked on TDK on the set of Transformers 3 this summer in Chicago. They told me that TDKR would be filming in LA and New Orleans... Admittedly, things do change regularly, but I'm thinking that the Chicago Film Office would know something about TDKR already if another summer-long production was in the scouting stages - as the film currently is...

She's got big boobs. The fanboys will shut up when they see her in it.

Nolan also likes his women in his films to use a lot of makeup lately.

Batman being pushed aside to focus on the villains (again).

-Agreed.

- Doubtful

-She is a 'dog'

- There's no way that the writing will be subpar. The relationship will be great, I'm sure. Anne Hathaway's acting may be another story.

Of the potential candidates that were listed recently, Anne by far is most representative of the idealized female figure found in comic books. I would have guessed this is the one aspect fanboys couldn't be disappointed in.

I'm a bit worried about the chemistry between Bale and Hatheway.

This is complete speculation on my part but they seem like they wouldn't get along working that close together. Just the vibe I'm getting.

Completely baseless but a fear that I have.

Thats the only one really as I don't find her that bad looking as some say.

Dude I totally agree with you about Hathaway but Bane will be fine. Penguin isn't a character that will fit into "Nolan's" universe. The Penguin is too campy for Nolan's world. Bane & Strange will be great.

Im concerned that were coming from Maggie Gylennhall and people are calling Anne Hathaway unattractive.

Im also concerned about hearing Anne Hathaways gonna suck for the next year and a half and immediately after the movie comes out, everyone will love her performance and her.

Yeah.

She's a good actress and isn't nearly as bad looking if at all like some are making her out to be.

Honestly, I think all three actresses are hot. But Anne takes the cake for hottest.

Most things are never nearly as bad as they're made out to be by some here :cwink:
