Well…Nielsen, Kidman and Wright are all a tad WASPy. (Though maybe Diana gets her Mediterranean looks from Dad. ) True, Nielsen (like Gadot) is tall. But so is Kidman. Wright and Elena Anaya would be on the short side for Amazons (if that’s who they’re playing).

True. Though for some reason I have less trouble imagining Nielsen as Gadot's mother than Kidman or Wright. Probably because she is less pale than other two actresses and I've seen Nielsen with darker hair as much as blond one.

Gal Gadot looks like a white lady to me, not as white as my sister in law but white all the same. I get that she isn't white in the same way say Nicole Kidman is and I appreciate that but I wouldn't call her a person of color. Again I still do appreciate Snyder going for a slightly different look when it comes to Wonder Woman.

Yeah, I wouldn't call her non-white as well, though she does seem to have that Mediterranean olive skin, not unlike Lynda Carter. And considering they're filming Themyscira scenes in south Italy and will probably use local extras, I expect many Amazons to have similar tan to Gadot's.

I think a lot of people misunderstand that Mediterranean types (and I'm strictly referring to the Caucasian subrace -- not the region) are actually quite ubiquitous, stretching from the Middle East and parts of North Africa all the way to Southern and even Northern Europe, among other geographic locations. Obviously a Mediterranean type from say.. Great Britain, one whose genetic makeup also reflects Germanic admixture and has been exposed to a rainy climate for a number of generations, won't look exactly like a Med type from Southern Spain or Sicily -- but in the craniofacial morphology, they're indeed very much the same.

I'd say that most modern Europeans, including their descendants in the Americas and elsewhere, are somewhat of a composite between Mediterranean and Nordic types. A true Nordic type is someone like Max Von Sydow. It's not just about hair or eye color; stature and other factors are to be considered as well.

Except you don't know that. There is no confusion except not realizing what you're saying is arbitrary and presumptuous. Why don't you complain about diversity after actually seeing the movie and how the roles play out? You have this silly perfect number for POC when the story will determine what actors they will need.

It may change obviously, but I've watched enough of these productions to know how the it goes. We have 2 so far from the press release, and I'm hoping for more. However, anyone else cast in this film will more than likely be minor roles at this point and that's a shame. You say I'm being presumptuous I say you're being aloof.

Actually, you only have the Said guy. Gal's family originally emigrated from Europe before settling in Israel (she describes her ethnicity as "1/4 Polish, 1/4 Austrian, 1/4 German, and 1/4 Czech"), so I wouldn't exactly call her a POC.

Gal definitely doesn't have a Roman nose. Those are very distinct and often give the impression the person has a big nose.

That current book is a disappointing one though. I love the New 52 origin and to the best of my knowledge, most other people did too. I don't know why they went ahead and re-rebooted the character with the older origin.

They did? I loved the New 52 origin & stories, they felt far more authentic for WW & who she is. I was just mainly happy they had finally done away with that clay nonsense.

I'm reading the old story "The Contest" and there's a flashback to the story between Hippolyta and her sister Antiope. They are very close until Hippolyta is seduced by Hercules and endangers the Amazons and this causes Antiope and the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall to separate from the other Amazons.

Another interesting aspect is that Hippolyta expected Diana to have achieved much more as Wonder Woman in the outside world, including for women, but feels Diana is more involved with her friends' "street brawls."
