Contest of Marvels II Thread 2

Armegeddon
Famine- tough match but I see Famine attacking too quickly for Sprila to get off any of her DDR magic moves.
Hyde- another tough match, but I don't really see any way for Longshot to hurt Hyde. It would be long, but Hyde would win eventually.
Skullfire

(Hey...I just noticed Boogie and Will in JH's avatar! I really need to find someone to make me a new one. I'm wanting an avatar of Strangers In Paradise real bad.)

Yeah, I had someone PM me about my Joey Q avatar claiming they've used it before and that it was their's. Out of avatar respect I agreed to find another. I don't know what made me think of Chill Town but I love the idea of it. I wish I could make moving ones or some out of video so I could have a more legit one. Maybe I'll have one made over in the Request thread eventually. I miss Chill Town. All Stars was my first big brother I had seen, and this coming season just won't be the same without them :(

And I know nothing of Strangers in Paradise.... comic? TV show?

Skullfire
Mr Hyde
Famine
Armageddon
- Though the votes aren't showing it, this would really be a good match I think.

I'll take this discussion to the Discussion thread.

Armageddon (PWNED!)
Longshot
Alex Powers (Versatility would win this for him)
Spiral ( Magic characters = awesome :))

Results So Far:

Armageddon currently beating Yellow Claw 7-1
Spiral currently beating Famine 5-3
Mr. Hyde currently beating Longshot 7-1
Skullfire currently tied with Alex Powers 4-4

(Note: Darren hasn't voted in all the threads. For his votes to ultimately count, he'll need to vote in the other threads, too.)

I just realized I'm pretty happy Famine is losing. She'd end up facing Armageddon next round if she actually won, and he'd probably know everything about Daddie's former Horsemen. Plus, I'd hate to lose a third character to that damn character.

Armageddon
Mr Hyde
Skullfire
Spiral

Final Results:

Armageddon beat Yellow Claw 9-1
Spiral beat Famine 7-3
Mr. Hyde beat Longshot 7-3

LOCATION: Limbo

This Limbo is also referred to as Otherplace. It first appeared in X-Men #160. (It has sometimes been erroneously called Otherworld; however, in the Marvel Universe, Otherworld is actually the home dimension of the beings who empower and oversee the Captain Britain Corps, and should not be confused with Other-Earth, homeworld of Kang the Conqueror.) Limbo's physical laws are primarily magical, though laws of the ordinary universe (such as electromagnetism and gravity) normally apply within its bounds.
It has an ecology composed primarily of demons of various sizes, strengths, and intellects. It is said that its ether is much thinner than that of the normal universe, allowing for a greater spectrum of magical powers and effects. All demons within it are magical creatures that possess spell making abilities to a greater or lesser degree.
Although Otherplace has a linear history, time within it is not rigid. Many points in its past and future are connected through naturally occurring temporal rifts, and its present is relative to the individual. Its history can be changed by travel through these rifts, but for some reason this is rare.
Limbo is traditionally ruled by a Supreme Sorcerer, either a demonic native or an entity from another universe, often Earth's. Limbo's appearance and physical laws are highly variable, and determined by the power and personal taste of its ruler. It can take the form of an otherworldly paradise, or a rocky, sulfurous perdition. The demons of Limbo traditionally display an attitude of slavish loyalty to its sovereign, and act as his or her servants. They will even assume forms mandated by the sorcerer if he or she is sufficiently powerful. However, the longer Limbo's ruler spends away from the dimension, the weaker that individual's mystical thrall over it becomes, and the more autonomously the demons begin to act. Left to their own devices they will plot to betray and conquer whomever holds the highest position. They will also attempt to invade other realities if not held in check.
Otherplace generally has a morally and spiritually corrupting influence over its denizens. If human, a resident of the realm will slowly metamorphose into a demonic entity. This change enhances the magical powers of the individual at the cost of their soul. Persons of great moral courage and wisdom can stave off the change for decades, but it is considered inevitable. The transformation usually progresses in stages initiated by the evil acts Limbo demands for survival. Magic in limbo is fundamentally neutral. It is the social and political climate that leads to this process.
The reality of Limbo is generated by a single deposit of a magical metal called promethium. In Limbo it takes the form of a giant animal heart, hidden in a cavern deep below its surface. Removal of the promethium to another dimension will cause Limbo to vanish. The heart of Limbo was once sought by the supervillain Doctor Doom as an inexhaustible energy source for his nation of Latveria.

(The souls and entities in Limbo will not fight or combat the opponents unless made to do so or if they are made to be very upset.)

Ms. Marvel vs. Super-Skrull:

Super-Skrull has a number of ways in which to battle and win in this match versus Ms. Marvel. Just looking at his powers indicates the numerous ways:

Powers As a Skrull, Kl'rt is able to transform his body into any shape he wishes. In addition, he has been genetically altered to possess all the powers of the Fantastic Four. As such, he can elongate any part of his body, emit and control flames, use his control over flame to fly, become invisible, form invisible force fields, possess superhuman strength, and transform into a rocky hide/body armor. He is also capable of hypnosis. Abilities Kl’rt is a trained soldier and commander in the Skrull army.

Compared to Ms. Marvel's powers, this shouldn't be too difficult for him.

AbilitiesSuperhuman Strength, Speed and Durability, Photonic Energy Blasts, Energy Absorption, Flight

First, Super-Skrull can go unnoticed by Ms. Marvel by simply transforming himself to look like one of the inhabitants of Limbo. Second, Super-Skrull will know of Ms. Marvel's powers, as he faced her and Spider-Man once before. (They didn't defeat him, just transported him to another dimension.) Thirdly, if this was strength against strength, Super-Skrull might be beaten; but, Super-Skrull has the power of hypnosis and doesn't have to even engage in battle. If he did use his powers, the powers of the Invisible Woman would probably be the most effective. Plus, imagining all four powers, plus hypnosis, Ms. Marvel will go down. She won't have anyone else there to help her, either. Finally, if need be, Super-Skrull could look or act like one of the inhabitants of Limbo, making it appear that Ms. Marvel is attacking one of the inhabitant's own people. This would cause quite a riot, making Ms. Marvel not only having to fight Super-Skrull, but a very upset population of Limbo.

Winner = Super-Skrull

Man-Wolf Vs. Jim Hammond

Hammond is lucky that this is Man-Wolf, not Stargod, I'll admit that. However, Hammond will Win this fight. His flame powers will make sure that Stargod's healing abilties will have to work overtime. His flight will also give him an advantage in Limbo's hostile landscape. as it has been stated that we are dealing with Man-Wolf, and not Stargod, It is likely that Man-Wolf will provoke demons and such into combat. Man-Wolf has no developed mind, just animal instinct.

I'd imagine the plan goes as follows; Hammond takes to the air to search for Man-Wolf. He avoids contact with all demons and entities, so as not to provoke an incident. I doubt that the Man-Wolf will be difficult to find. attacking from a distance. Luring the Man-Wolf to clusters of demons would also be a good strategy.

Man-Wolf vs. Jim Hammond

Prep-Time probably won't help Hammond. I doubt many details about Man-Wolf would be available. John will at least be able to find out that Hammond is the original Torch. At the very least, they'll have an idea of the powers they'll be facing in battle.

The location won't really effect anything because the demons will stay out of the fight until provoked.

Normally, this fight would heavily favor Hammond as Man-Wolf can't really fight at a distance. But Man-Wolf has the powers of the Stargod, and that's a huge advantage.

With these powers, Jameson can manipulate energy and has some telepathy. Being an android, Torch is probably immune to Man-Wolf's telepathy. But manipulating energy greatly favors Man-Wolf because he can blast Hammond at a distance, and can redirect the (heat) energy in the Torch's flame attacks.

Combined with his Stargod powers, Jameson still has the powers of the Man-Wolf. These include strength, agility, and speed for any close fighting or short/long distance evading. Superhuman healing and stamina will get him through any Torch attacks that do happen to land.

This could very well turn out to be a very long battle. Jim has a lot of experience and skill. John has battle experience as well, and his own powers to counter what Hammond can do. But the trump card is John's ability to manipulate energy. With it, he can drain the heat away from the Torch's attack, rendering them useless, and possible take the Torch's flames away completely, grounding him and taking away his ability to fight.

A fairly even match, but the edge goes to Jameson and his Stargod power.

Man-Wolf wins

Actually, as was established by Harl in our battle, Jameson does have to powers of the Stargod. So this fight isn't nearly as one-sided as it at first seems. In fact, it's a fairly even battle. Hammond can fly, but Man-Wolf has advanced agility and can manipulate the flame attacks.

The demons only will get involved if provoked. And I think both characters (Jim with his flames and John with his energy blasts) have an equal chance of doing that. Although the demons may be more likely to side with John since he'll look like a beast. Jim will just be a threatening flame that needs to be stopped.

Man-Wolf wins

Rebuttle:

Hold on... The caption says "Man-Wolf". Stargod is someone completely different. It'd be like saying "Spider-Man" but including the Captain Universe powers as well. Can I object?

This was established in his last battle. The most current version of Jameson before this season started had the powers of the Stargod. So I should be able to use that version.

Voting May Begin!!!

Voting will last until Tuesday, unless it seems like we need another day.
