Contest of Marvels II Thread 3

Second, you have shown absolutely no proof that Speed Demon, through training, has gotten faster. In fact, since all the biographies I have accessed refer to him as Speed Demon, and not his old name of Whizzer, I would be led to believe they are current, accurate and factual.

No I have shown no proof because I do not have any and I just made a supposition of something possible....it may be conjecture but it is in the realm of possibilities.

Next, about your assessment on speed and what it can do. A Nascar vehicle can reach speeds of 200 MPH. I can see a Nascar vehicle when it's racing; so, noticing Speed Demon would be no problem. If a Nascar driver were to stick out his hand, have a straw in it, there is no way it could "penetrate a piece of wood."

I am assuming he can go a bit faster then the speeds you state. It is posible that a writer could write him as faster just as no writer really respects in absolute terms the limits that are mentionned in profiles, such as Spidey and his 10/20 ton limit.

The fact remains, Quasar didn't need to make fun of Speed Demon....he's done that consistently in his past on his own. Numerous heroes have beaten him, numerous heroes and villians have out-raced him, and about the only times he's been successful is when he's been with a team. Speed Demon is not with a team. He's alone, and he will be easily defeated.

Why bring Quasar into this? Speed demon has enough problems as it is

Finally, I will say that I've constantly shown proof behind my statements. I've quoted, referred, or read all the things that I state as fact. I have revealed that this supposed "wizard of oz" is basically just a silly man who cannot do what he boasts of doing.

I am not showing proof because I take the 5th and I am not required to.....that and I have nothing which could help me to show ;)

*Psycho Man

*Sphinx - (If I was wise, I'd vote for Meltdown. I don't look forward to possibly having Psycho Man have to face him in Round 2.)

*Emplate - (Wow...First, this was a difficult match to choose who to vote for. Second, Morph got the bad luck of the draw having to face a Mutant Vampire. I keep changing my vote, but what gets posted is the final decision.)

*Bullseye - (I still cringe thinking about Bullseye killing someone with his fingernail. Yuck!)

* Psycho Man

*Sphinx

*Morph (The fact that he has no bone marrow to suck out would severly hurt Emplate's plans. And as for the whole "unsynched with reality" thing, he has to synch up if he ever wants to hurt Morph.)

*Bullseye

Dang it. That damn Emplate/Morph fight has me keep going back and forth. I see both sides could win with the excellent arguments provided. I hate when I'm not totally comfortable with a vote.

More people should be voting for Meltdown, I guess you guys dont like ass.

Maybe we all enjoy staring at Sphinx's ass more....

Psycho Man
Meltdown
Emplate
Bullseye(can I vote for my own characters?)

Psycho Man
Sphinx
Emplate (Excelent debate. I wasnt' even considering Emplate to win, but I was convinced. It wasn't the debates alone though, as he has other powers that wasn't brought up, such as contact with other dimensions that he can bring things to and from, such as how he brought Penance to Earth and trapped Monet in her frame. The lack of marrow thing was all that was making me question, but these extra abilities by Emplate enables him to find a way to win, and I think he could really pull it off in a major upset)
Bullseye (I really wanted to vote for Gauntlet, as I feel he is a very underestimated character. But I do think that he would have a very tough time with Bullseye, and the debates didn't convince me otherwise)

Psycho Man - As much as I would like to vote for my own character I do not see how he could win. In fact I would like him renamed from speed demon to "kind of speedy but not quite demon"

Meltdown

Emplate - That was a good debate

Bullseye

Results So Far:

Psycho Man 7-0 currently beating Speed Demon
Sphinx 4-3 currently beating Meltdown
Emplate 5-2 currently beating Morph
Bullseye 7-0 currently beating Gauntlet

A couple more votes for a possible Meltdown upset.

What happens in a tie?

What happens in a tie?

From the Rules Thread:

Yes, it needs to be noted that a tie will be a re-match the next week, and if a tie happens again, it will go to Sparta's thread. If two contestants have fought the previous week to a draw, they will both have a knowledge of the other's tactics and powers, of course...which might just effect the outcome of the rematch. But, that's just the way things work out. With Sparta's thread, each contestant will have an set date to PM Sparta with your debate on why your character should win the match. If you do not get your debate to Sparta in time, the match will still be posted on said date.

So we are allowed to vote for a character if we have information on them that wasn't brought up in the debate?

Definitely. Remember, while the debates can make up a big part of your decision (and, should), it's only part of it. For example, while Blizzard got debated and Sasquatch didn't, I felt that Blizzard's powers wouldn't work that well against a character who could deal with the cold, like Sasquatch, and whose human identity is a scientist and could use prep time to his advantage. Basically, the debator has to convince you that the character can win. It's up to you whether they succeeded in doing that.

-Speed Demon (I think 160 mph would let him get in some cheap shots and take Psycho Man down)

-Sphinx

-Morph (C'mon unstable molecules, no bone marrow, and Emplate cannot call for help, stated in the rules)

-Gauntlet (Didn't know too much about him but Zoken convinced me.)

Psycho Man
Sphinx (Boomer's ass is let down by her other characteristics. Alone it would have progressed)
Emplate
Bullseye
