Contest of Marvels II Thread 3

ULTRON vs. STARFOX

Forget Santron. That wasn't even truly Ultron and part of a comedy story. Comedy stories are by default bull****.

Ultron is the ultimate killing machine. An adamantium shell makes him virtually indestructible. He can fly, has super strength, a wide array of weapons and his hipnosis beam. Add that he's a robot that doesn't get tired, and you have the creation that's taken on entire line-ups of Avengers...and WON.

Starfox is a B-list character ON HIS OWN. Yes, he's durable. Yes, has strength. Yes, he has blasts. But, his pleasure powers are useless. It comes down to man vs. machine in a no holds-barred grudge match. Despite Fox's abilities and heritage, he can still be hurt. He's been knocked around by fellow Avengers as well as some of their big bads.

Ultron is an unrelenting, unfeeling machine whose soul purpose is to end all human life and replace it with machines. Fox is not only outclassed, but outmatched as Ultron's wide array of weapons can take him down and out of the fight. I wouldn't be surprised if we learn if an Eternal can truly die.

And if pictures are worth 1000 words, then start counting:

WINNER: ULTRON. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE

Match 14:

Snowbird (POWDERMAN) bio

vs.

Iceman (MIDNIGHT ICE) bio

So sorry for the late debate. This last week of classes is killing me:oldrazz: I see that my opponent has not yet put up a debate, maybe he was waiting for me. Well, without further ado...

Iceman is an Omega class mutant.-OMEGA CLASS-(despite what the X-writers have him doing nowadays) Anyway, It would be fairly simple for Iceman to tire Snowbird down. Snowbird cannot stay in any animal form for an extended period of time. If she actually transformed into any animal that managed to give Iceman any type of troube, Iceman could slide on his ice slide out of reach or just out run her on his slide (Iceman has been clocked at over 120mph) until she is forced to transform back into her human self.

I believe that whatever she turned into to fight Iceman, Iceman will increase his size if needed and easily knock her out by forming his arm into a very dense chunk of ice. Not an award winning strategy, but it would certainly be enough for this fight.

WINNER: Iceman

GLA begs to differ.

I don't think I need to recap Eros' powers here, but he may not be as durable as Ultron, he's as strong, also has flight, a measure of speed and has the added advantage of his extra powers. He's also not going to tire out that easily, which should give him enough time to do his stuff.

Starfox is a B-list character ON HIS OWN. Yes, he's durable. Yes, has strength. Yes, he has blasts. But, his pleasure powers are useless. Same goes for Ultron. Sure, he's tough to beat, but he's not invincible. Eros' advantage however, is not focused on the physical but the emotional. Ultron knows pleasure, and Eros knows how to manipulate that to his advantage. He may be a B-list character in terms of popularity, but he's definite A-list in terms of power.

But he is not unfeeling. Many times we have seen him take enjoyment from his actions, performing his actions with a mad glee. He can become angry, or some solemn. Sure, not every emotion is open to Ultron, but most of the spectrum is. That's exactly where Starfox comes in. You also forgot the fact that Eros is pretty swift, and really should be able to dodge most of what Ultron throws at him.

And if pictures are worth 1000 words, then start counting:

I remember that story. Ultron got his ass beat by Hank Pym and the other Avengers. Thanks for reminding me.

WINNER=STARFOX

ULTRON vs. STARFOX

There is no proof that Starfox can affect simulated emotions. If there is point it out. That power is utterly USELESS against him.

And if you wanna count comedy stories, fine. Starfox got punted with a ball kick by She-Hulk across a river. Now, if she She-Hulk can do that to him, then Ultron can do much similar, if not worse.

WINNER: ULTRON (BY A BALL BREAKER)

Debating kinda stops being allowed after voting has started. I'm going to leave it up to the voters whether they believe Eros can affect Ultron or not.

Growing Man
Starfox
Dead Girl - Great debate, but I think she has the edge here.
Iceman - Debating gets the prize.

Iceman
Growing Man
Dead Girl -REAL tough to decide which one though
Ultron

Growing Man (even though I wanted Speedball to progress)
Ultron
Iceman
Mercury (probably the hardest match to decide this week.

Growing Man (size wins the day)
Starfox (creative argument from harlekin, I would have liked to have seen how this would have played out as a debate. Also with regrds emotion, try reading runaways V2[in which he also got taken out by excelsior who are all b-lister]. Tough one though.)
Mercury (could have gone either way. Most edits in a single page I've ever seen :woot:)
Iceman - You debate you win

Growing Man (I couldn't find a rebuttal)
Starfox (Harlekin had a really strong, early debate and a great rebuttal)
Deadgirl(I didn't really know her but I went back and forth and decided she seemed a but more likely)
Iceman ( 1)Snowbird didn't have a debate, and 2) He's way too overpowered and expierienced against her, he could just rip her apart.)

Yeah, well I wrote it while the debating has ended thing was goin' up so I'm leaving it. If people wanna ignore it go right ahead.

Growing Man
Ultron
Mercury
Snowbird

Next time, if someone is writing a rebuttal and you think voting may end soon, just PM me quickly. If I see the PM, I can hold out for a bit. It's just that debating seemed to had finished, and nobody asked for an extension within reason.

Results So Far:

Growing Man currently beating Speedball 8-0
Ultron currently beating Starfox 5-3
Dead Girl currently beating Mercury 5-3
Iceman currently beating Snowbird 7-1

Results So Far:

Growing Man currently beating Speedball 12-0
Ultron currently beating Starfox 9-3
Dead Girl currently tied with Mercury 6-6
Iceman currently beating Snowbird 10-2

(PinnyPed's votes cannot be counted. He/she's only voted in two threads and doesn't have a high enough post count.)

Growing Man
Ultron
Dead Girl - the debates evened out (eventually) and they both have the power to win the fight in various ways. I just think Deadgirl edges it by being a lot more ruthless.
Iceman - no contest (give me Iceman :cmad: I'll trade :))

Growing Man (sadly... I really wanted Speedball to move forward :()
Ultron
Mercury
Iceman

Wolverine... your first debate for Ultron hovered on being a rebuttal of Starfox's first post. It wasn't quite, but just be careful of dodging that.

Another tie. Who hasn't voted yet? Powderman usually posts by now, so he might not get to it this week. Hopefully, we'll have one more before tomorrow morning.

BTW, I'm so happy to see Speedball losing. I have never liked his character, and it pained me to vote for him one time last season. I think he even made it into the third or fourth round, if I remember right. Justice is served!!! (Whose side are you on??!!??)
