Darkman Appreciation Thread

I know it'll never happen

Don't be pessimistic now, of course it will happen!:woot:

I looked at it your way, and it sounds terrible to me. It's wish fulfillment fan fiction.

There's actually a crossover comic called "Darkman vs The Army of Darkness" from Dynamite Entertainment, where Ash and Darkman meet. Haven't read it, but sounds interesting enough.

Robert Durant shows up as a deadite

I think it could work. Both Darkman and Evil Dead are dark horror comedies, with a dose of action, made by the same guy. Ash is Superman, and Darkman is Batman:hehe:

The upcoming new Crow movie is not a "remake", it's a re-adaptation of the comics and remakes are only for when they are based on motion pictures that aren't based on any source material.

It would be like calling Nolan's Batman "remakes" of Burton's films or saying Dredd is a "remake" of the Stallone movie, NO they are all separate adaptations

Either way... I'm still not interested in the Crow film. Maybe after I see a trailer, I will be, I don't know. But to be honest, I'm not all that interested in the character. I didn't even love the first Crow film like everyone else did.

LOL. Yeah, it's a good movie but aside from the visuals I don't think it's anything special.

Nice. I didn't even know there was a comic. I knew about the one where Ash goes up against Jason and Freddy, but never knew about Darkman and Ash being partners in the comics. Once again, I think that'd be wicked to see Campbell and Neeson on-screen together (plus, as I said before, it could make an absolute killing at the box-office, since Neeson's had a fantastic box-office run so far and audiences, I'm sure, would love to see Campbell's Ash again).

The third act, IMO, is what derails the movie. Everything up to that point was solid, but, as soon as they ("magically") discover Eric's weakness through the crow itself, it turns into a real chore to sit through (reminded me of the Edward Scissorhands ending a bit too much, and I always hated that film with a passion, despite it having a really great visual look, I always thought the characters were poorly written stereotypes who were unlikeable in every way). That being said, I thought that the sequels City of Angels and Salvation provided much better third acts because there was a lot more at stake than in the original (especially City of Angels which, going off a great script by David S. Goyer, could have easily been the best of the series if the studio hadn't butchered it so much, there's literally half a freakin' film that's missing from it, I'd love to see a Director's Cut one of these days in the future, or just get Goyer to come in and edit it the way he originally scripted it, because originally it had a much more tragic ending and the recent Blu-ray release was an absolute disaster).

The fourth Crow movie...:barf:

I whole-heartedly agree. The Crow: Wicked Prayer is one of the worst films ever... period. Absolutely... terrible, I don't even wanna think about the film, that's how terrible it truly is. Just garbage. :ikyn
