Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Dat J. August Richards Thread

My money's on new character, with powers that come from the abandoned Chitauri tech.

Could very well be the case; but why all the secrecy, then? His role has been called "top secret," and in a recent interview, a writer almost slipped up and said, "whoa, I almost said his name there."

Yeah, not feeling that.

Honestly, I think his "I should carry a shield?" remark was referencing this.

I'm pretty sure he was just confused by what s.h.i.e.l.d was. Skye mentions them, he doesn't know who they are so he's like 'I should carry a shield?'

Sure, but... come on. :o

...Maybe because it's an acid trip of an article....?

There is nothing in that article at all that is even remotely close to being true of JAR's character other than the fact that his name might start with "M."

....As in Mallen. Or Mar-Vell. Or a whole host of other superheroes/villains whose name starts with "M," but is not attached to a 13-year old Spidey Jr.

I thought Joss said no to Cage AND Rage?

I doubt that's what was meant, that conversation was about SHIELD not the defensive object.

Joss (or was it Feige?) was definitive in denying JAR was Luke Cage. This EW article is the first time he was asked directly about Rage; the "he's certainly cranky" sounds like a classic "cannot confirm nor deny" dodge.

I'd say Rage's hat is still definitely in the ring.

If that "M-" rumor has any salt, I want to guess Machine Man. I know it's loose. But he's got some tech on his arm, right?

Idk. just speculation.

I thought only Cage was shot down.

If that's the case, I'm still thinking Rage. Just re-watched trailer for the umpteenth time. Didn't his response to Skye when they were talking about SHIELD seem a *tad* childish/immature? The mannerisms would be in line with him actually being a 13 year old inside.

Cage AND Rage were both shot down. I don't recall where just in that same interview they said it's all new people we see with powers. More than likely from Chitauri Tech like we saw in the Item 47

I don't remember Sam. lol I wish I could tho, I should have grabbed that article/video

JAR gave a video interview; still doesn't hint at who he's playing, of course. But he *does* reiterate the earlier comment that Marvel doesn't always cast characters according to their original race in the comics. Which means that (a) he *is* playing someone from the comics, and (b) it's looking more and more likely that it wasn't originally a black character.

How about Parker Robbins...The Hood? He's a new villain they've been flogging this century, and I don't know much about him; other than the fact that I've "run into him" on Marvel Heroes and Marvel Avengers Alliance, and that, other than being white, he *could* fit the bill of JAR's character.

You think? I don't have anything to base it on really, just seems like he'd be just the kind of obscurish character they could pull a race swap on with minimum nerdrage. Plus the displayed powers fit (kind of) and the whole "M" thing if that's not an outright red herring.

But I wanted to get it out there just in case. :D

*Crumples up paper on which 'JAR-Rage Theory' and miscellaneous other gibberish was scrawled*

*tosses over shoulder*

*walks away whistling*

Yeah I think its definitely a white character from the comics. JAR making it a point to metion that marvel does race-blind casting seals it. Its the 2nd time thats been mentioned.

Maybe he won't go by the name of the Hood in this series but another name. Maybe Arrow? :p
