BvS David S. Goyer IS the Script Writer! - Part 2

A glorified proofreader wouldn't get front-billing, methinks.

Goyer's story may be intact, as well as the framework of his screenplay, but Terrio had to do enough revisions to put Goyer in the backseat.

I enjoyed the subtlety of Terrio's writing in Argo. Maybe we can finally drop the heavy-handed exposition that has plagued us under Nolan and Goyer.

you'd be surprised.

Also film credits aren't final until the WGA reviews them...so this may not be the final credits.

Max Borenstein is credited as the sole writer of Godzilla...but David Callaham, David Goyer, Drew Pearce and Frank Darabont contributed to the script.

So it's confirmed the script is Goyer's big-picture storytelling meets Terrio's Oscar-level penciling? Sounds good.

She-hulk: I had her entire John Byrnes run, including the issue where if you didn't read it, she would come and tear up all your X-Men comics. I LOVED that run, and I love She-Hulk. She was a fun female I could read about, and John Byrne GOT that, played with the concept, and made her a happy person in her own skin, happy to be a female, happy to be a superhero.

Even though I haven't collected comics in years, Goyer's words cut like a knife into me. Goyer: HOW DARE YOU! And peeps can just **** off about WW "undies" being improper - but his calling She-Hulk a ****e is just beyond the pale.

Take his dog-meat name off the picture NOW. :jedi

Hope I wasn't unclear.

lol this thing picked up so much steam, someone made an ed/news post about it on 'that' site. I see like 10 pages of raving.
The internet these days.

The funny part being he himself knows martian manhunter, making the joke self deprecation..

Humor is just lost on some people...

Well It wasn't particulary funny. Its not like I am deeply offended, but I found the guys comments stupid, and especially when talking about She-Hulk , Goyer himself game across as the guy who never has gotten laid.

Regarding his writing? I like some, dislike some.

Yeah, like Goyer...his sense of "humor" sucks. Nothing he said was funny.

How old and cliché is the "virgin comics nerd" bit anyway? This from a "writer"...

But that's the thing -- he knows all about MM...

I think you're engaging in wishful thinking.

We know that they have adjusted the plot: they got rid of the football stadium scene.

Well after what Goyer said about She Hulk and Martian Manhunter I don't care if he ever writes another comic book or comic book movie again. Don't belittle your fanbase

Wow, people are really overreacting (wait, why am I surprised about that?) here.

Bet anything the fanboys there didn't get personally offended when Goyer joked with them about why they even know who Martian Manhunter is.

And he's got a point. "Martian Manhunter" sounds pretty cheesy. Even the comics have recognized this and limited the use of this phrase.

The Justice League cartoon made him incredibly badass and cool. Probably the "definitive" version of the MARTIAN MANHUNTER, it took all the stuff from the comics that Goyer just made fun of but presented it in a cool, adult way, and he was a useful asset to the team.

Maybe Goyer doesn't see him as any of these things because he didn't grow up with the show. For those of us that did though, we looked forward to anytime he did something on the show and thought he was cool as ****.

So yeah, I don't see any problem with taking offense to Goyer's "joke". It'd piss me off less if he weren't the "architect" of the DC films and "in charge" of all these characters, that's the thing I really take issue with. He wields all this power with little responsibility to it.

Dude can go **** himself.

I want to a see romantic comedy with Kevin Smith and David Goyer. They hate each other for 2/3 of the film but fall in love in the end.

You're also going to owe a fortune to the swear jar.

Justice League cartoon was awful.

One of the best shows ever made.

Along with Batman: TAS & Superman: TAS.

I'm confused. It says a script by Chris Terrio from a screenplay by David Goyer. Shouldn't it be a screenplay by Chris Terrio from a story by David Goyer?

But **** it, if Terrio has done a complete rewrite from Goyer's script than this is nothing but good news. It's one of the few things going for this movie. But there's a part of me that thinks Terrio's rewrites won't save it in the end.

No, the definitive version of the character is in the comics, specifically the more modern ones prior to the New 52. The Justice League cartoon eventually relegated J'onn to a plot device, which is a crime.

Far as I can tell, Goyer wasn't even really talking about the character. He was talking about the character's NAME, and his ALTER EGO's modus operandi.

You just seem to assume he's not taking any responsibility...
