BvS David S. Goyer IS the Script Writer! - Part 2

No, the definitive version of the character is in the comics, specifically the more modern ones prior to the New 52.

Which is much of what the JL show is. In fact, pre New 52 they even incorporated elements of the MM's animated appearance into the comics, such as his lack of human like ears in the animated version.

The Justice League cartoon eventually relegated J'onn to a plot device, which is a crime.

The second season of JLU did that specifically.

ar as I can tell, Goyer wasn't even really talking about the character. He was talking about the character's NAME, and his ALTER EGO's modus operandi.

You just seem to assume he's not taking any responsibility...

Those things are all a part of who MM is though. If I attack how your arm looks, is that not attacking you? It was all unnecessary and not something that should have came from the mouth of the DC film "architect". He's in the wrong here.

And if he wanted to leave anything from the Chris Reeve Superman film out he could have left the unnecessary Superman is Jesus bullcrap out instead of doubling it and repackaging it in MOS instead of some of the things people liked that worked. Just another "dig" from KS at MOS I'm sure it'll be called...

you'd be surprised.

Also film credits aren't final until the WGA reviews them...so this may not be the final credits.

Max Borenstein is credited as the sole writer of Godzilla...but David Callaham, David Goyer, Drew Pearce and Frank Darabont contributed to the script.
I know Goyer and Pearce have both said (on separate occasions) their contributions to the (final) Godzilla movie was next to null. Scripts change hands all the time, and I'm sure the WGA's strict guidelines is the reason only one person was credited.

If WB is putting Terrio's name front and center in all these press releases, I have to believe it's because the weight of responsibility is largely on his hands now.

WB should put Oscar winner Chris Terrio.

I knew Goyer was somewhat involved with Godzilla along with numerous of other writers.

Justice League cartoon was awful.

Goyer is such a hack. If Batman wasn't popular you could just as easily say the name 'Batman' is ridiculous as well, and doesn't work. Martian Manhunter honestly makes more sense. The character started in Detective Comics. He was a homicide detective from Mars. A 'Martian Manhunter'. Goyer's failure to realize this, just exposes him as a hack for the umpteenth time. And now we know he's sexist, and hates comic fans. Great.

Heh, more overreactions from comments he made that was in a non-serious environment. Great. :whatever:

Listening to the actual podcast, he was.

The fact that so many of us here got so rowdy over it only validates the joking insults he threw out, as well as the persistent stereotype of fanboys in general.

To be fair I was only half serious. I made up my mind about David Goyer a long time ago. And yeah the smear culture of online reporting is pretty messed up.

Couldn't agree more.

I listen to John August's podcast regularly, so no surprise this blew up like it did. Stopped listening right after he made these comments 'cause his passive-aggressiveness turned me off. Bad enough that people now doubt him over Man of Steel, and then he pours accelerant for good measure so his detractors can swoop in.

The whole thing's on Scriptnotes. Go about 25 minutes in. It was an awkwardly humorous attempt to get the writers pitching reboots until his comments made it plain awkward. I get it's not cool to have the same negative reaction to your name that Lindelof, Kurtzman, Orci, and the like get. Terrio taking over after Warner Bros.' initially wanted him to have input in all their DC projects has to sting. This doesn't help.

Here's the thing, it does sounds like he's poking fun at the Nolanized approached in the actual podcast. However, it also sounds like something he WOULD do :csad:

Hes joking around clearly.

However, I think he should catch up on the JL cartoon. A sole survivor traumatized alien missing the concept of family is far more intriguing than that of a homicide detective from the 50's.

The JL cartoon did both, although less on the homicide detective bit. I love both aspects of the character. Why not do both on screen?

He's just a great all around character.

Could you imagine if such a big deal was made out of every one of writer Kevin Smith's comments?

So I guess Goyer should just keep making comments so eventually people get used to it and start using his name as an avatar. ;)

and is Goyer in charge of the universe? His script was rewritten.

People here are overreacting to Goyer's weird sense of humor and Goyer is not the answer to all DC movie scripts..

So, WB will be looking at some more writers for DC movies.

No, I think Goyer should just stop talking, period. But I'll settle for him not writing, that would probably be better.

And Goyer's script was rewritten because I'm sure the criticism about his awful MOS work didn't fall on deaf ears at WB....mostly because it didn't make the money they wanted. When money's involved WB tends to get a move on...and one of those moves might be taking some power away from their "Kevin Feige".

I would like for Kevin Smith to write and direct some DCAU movies.

I'm not sure if that's a good idea. I love KS but I think he's better off just talking about them.

Still, I'll take him over Goyer any day. :o ;)
