And can we all unite in relief that the Adam Sandler movie tanked? :up:

It shouldn't have to break series records, the fact that its even close to Last Stand numbers is quite amazing already.

With Fox spending 225 million on DOFP If you want Apocalypse to be bigger
than DOFP then it needs to make money.

X2 Is the X-Men film that domesticly made the most money after opening
weekend so we need to hope it performs like X2 so It could get close to 230
Million.Getting to 250 Million domesticly or higher Is kind of Impossible at this
moment.maybe it will have smaller drop than past films but opening weekend isn't suggesting a new series record.

DOFP was always going to do well overseas.It's already broken the record of
X-Men's foreign box office.DOFP should have no problem beating the wolverine's 282 Million overseas record high for series.DOFP should be able to say it's highest worldwide film In series beating the 459 million that Last Stand
got In 2006 but a lot of it Is from foreign box office.

Even after more well recirved films-First Class and The wolverine,Good reviews,and all the star power it still can't match domesticly what The last stand did In 2006 or come close to what Winter soldier did domesticly.
WS through this weekend grossed 253 million.DOFP may not even hit 240 Million Domesticly.

It has to make 450 million just so fox breaks even on it assuming deadline is right on 225 million budget.

$ 91M Dom
$ 171M OS
$ 262M WW

We need another $438M to go to hit $700M :woot:

those 171m in the rest of the world.... how it is compared to other franchises?
Mainly Avengers, Cap2 and Man of Steel

One question. It's already Monday here so I understand the foreign numbers being ready for release, but how are they already estimating Sunday's domestic takings when it's still morning there?

It's a projection.

Come on America get your ass in those seats lol. Hopefully the rest of us make up a lot more money.

Can't really compare to those since they had different release dates for different territories.

Dofp has had a better date than ManofSteel, thats why I asked. Well, at least talking about USA

Very impressive overseas number there! I would have liked the domestic 3-day to have cracked at least $100MM but $90MM isn't anything to cry over.

I thought the original $125MM estimates were way too high so I guess my original thinking of somewhere between 100-110 for the 4-day looks about right!

according to a Monday report on June last year:

After taking an additional $36.3 million on Sunday, the Zack Snyder directed and Christopher Nolan produced Man of Steel's new totals are $116.7 million for the three day weekend and a four-day total of $128.7 million (that's $3 million more than expected). To put that into perspective for you, Superman Returns' three-day total was $52 million, The Amazing Spider-Man's (another high profile reboot) earned $62 million and Marvel's The Avengers took a whopping $207 million. However you look at it, this was a great start for Man of Steel! The worldwide cume for the movie is now $200.3 million and it has gone down as having the best June opening of all-time domestically.

So XMen has opened higher than MoS in the foreign market, if this report includes the same markets more or less.

On Boxofficemojo and Wikipedia production budget is $200 million. I thought it was 250 million.

There's no way it was ever quoted as being $250MM unless it was just speculation by fanboys. It was said it was the second most expensive movie Fox has done after Avatar and that movie was only budgeted at $237MM.

$200MM sounds about right for this one.

Guys! If that $171 foreign opening is right, Dofp has opened higher than Ironman2, Man of Steel, Avatar and The Dark Knight Rises!!!

Check the boxoffice chart: http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/weekend/opening/

Just behind The Avengers! :wow: this could be Huge outside of US. #12 of best openings ever

Agreed with all of this. :up:

Nothing to mope over, folks.

It's not over yet anyway. We still have Sunday evening in UK (it's 5.30pm here) and all of tomorrow (holiday Monday).

With those early overseas numbers, I'm now wondering what this movie's final global take will end up at.

I think it has a shot at $550 - 600MM hopefully.

Kinda deceptive it is. DoFP opened in ALL territories but 2 on the same weekend. Those others had more staggered openings.

Avenger's opening international gross was from only 39 countries, DOFP has like 100+
