Never seen it.

Therefore I consider his three best movies as Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison and The Waterboy.

Those are some of his best.

Taking it to top 5 I'd add The Wedding Singer and Don't mess with the Zohan.

How did ASM2 and CA:TWS do here?
Exactly the same. Same with Godzilla. The question is more how many overall tickets are being sold. Though this isn't really that big of a thing, as walkups are still the most important factor.

If Days of Future Past has a weakness in terms of appeal, it's certainly not suited to first timers.

You pretty much have to have seen, and recall, all the previous movies to follow everything. That's six movies.

Yeah thats the biggest thing counting against it I feel. They try in the film to fill in some blanks but there are too many to cover everything.

Ultimately it won't be the first weeks takings that need to be watched, its the following weeks. The X-Men films in the past have tended to be very front loaded, it won't be until next week that we start to find out if DoFP can buck that trend.

Will the lack of IMAX hurt the gross a lot?

I wouldn't think a whole lot. But I'll say this, I'd love to see more movies in IMAX than in 3D. When i saw The Dark Knight in IMAX and saw the actual action scenes that were filmed in IMAX, I fell in love lol.

We need more movies that film in IMAX...not 3D.

I just realised it is bank holiday monday in the UK next week and it is half term for most schools so people should still be going throughout the week :)

As a 3D enthusiast, I'd say more films in IMAX AND 3D... :cwink:

A lot of movies I want to see in IMAX has 3D with it, which instantly turns me away.

Same here. I got lucky with MOS because we had one daily showing in 2D at the real IMAX in my area. God I hate 3D, but I understand why they do it.

I just saw it in 3D and guys, don't even bother. It makes no difference whatsoever.

See it twice in 2D!

I think it could do bigger than Cap 2 mainly because they have Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence and they put asses in the seats in theaters. The only ones in Cap 2 you can say that with is Scarlett and Sam but they weren't the main focus like how Wolverine and Mystique are in this film.

So more than Cap 2 maybe.

Yeah 3D didnt really add a lot to the film other than maybe[BLACKOUT] Blinks fight scenes[/BLACKOUT]. For large parts I forgot I was even watching in 3D but at least it wasnt as bad as Cap2's 3D where some scenes were so dark you couldnt see the action.

What were the midnight numbers for spidey, and Godzilla?

$9.3M for 'Zilla. But that started at 7pm Thurs.. DoFP starts at 10pm.

Box Office Mojo finally put the production budget up for DOFP. They have it at 200 million.

screencrave.com is projecting a 100.1 million opening.

They say that will be well short of the then 123 million (154 in today's dollar) that The Last Stand took in.

Why are they comparing to the Last Stand?

why not and Avenger's flic or First Class or something more recent, just curious.

The Last Stand had the bump just like Captain America: WS had because of Avenger's. Last Stand had the X2 bump.

Because Last Stand also involved the original cast.

I guess Last Stand was this series BO OW high point is why they are using that?

Last Stand also opened over Memorial weekend.

I'm going with $130 million for opening weekend. Godzilla was on pace for $70 million and ended up with $93 million. Maybe the same will happen with DOFP.

There projection is for three day and The Last Stand did 123million afaik.
100 million 3 day would be awesome as f***.
