DC March '09 Previews

I don't care what they do with that cowl, as long as Tim stays Red Robin or dawns a completely new identity. He's such a badass.

Well they are obviously not meant to be the most important books for the ongoing story and just a series of "fill gaps in the story" books till the main stuff comes.

And Royal McGraw has been writing Detective fill-ins for Paul Dini.

Little fill ins and miniseries are perfect ways to test new writers (they will have story editorial support and probably support from other writers) they have to let people into the industry somehow.

You have a point, but considering that this is meant to be an event that dawns a new Batman, I think that DC should have gone all out on this like they have with Superman's New Krypton which has established an active Kryptonian population, Flash: Rebirth which is bringing Barry Allen back into active status within the Flash mythos, and Green Lantern's Blackest Night which has all of the Lantern Corps fighting it out and its ramifications upon the DC Universe. This is significant. You see DC's biggest writers for these things like Johns, Morrison, Robinson, Tomasi, and Rucka.

In my opinion, the writing team for this event should have been Morrison (who should be writing the main Battle for the Cowl series), Dini, Simone (it's a crime she's not writing Oracle), Niceza, Rucka (for Batwoman's involvement) and Tomasi.

id love to see tomasi and dini as head batwriters, whoever is behind the cowl with niceza continuing tim drakes story
souless, i couldnt agree with your sig more. ive been on board since his Black Adam mini

I believe Morrison wanted a break though. He requested to be off the books for a while then he'll come back and write the important stuff in 2009 (which will by then be his only DC book). So DC invited this little Battle of the Cowl stuff - it will be like the Outsiders one shots when they were picking the new team - it won't matter because the writer has already chosen where they are going with it.
