soooo.........any word on Raven?

She's apparently not on Teen Titans. Have they reshuffled her to a different team/book?

So apparently Martian Manhunter's part of Stormwatch. Bizarre.

Well, that's...unexpected. Part of me knows that merging the WildStorm characters just will not work in the grand scheme of things unless the DCU heroes are just generally way more open and apathetic about killing, or the WS are toned down. But I guess it could make for an interesting story in some ways...plus Cornell.

i dont think so...How many weeks and months have we heard New Avengers is crap....and yet its one of the top selling books. Marvel markets the hell out of that book and every major event starts from NA
That's my point, actually.

NA sells because it has most of Marvel's flagship characters in it. You put Spider-Man, Wolverine, etc. in a book written by Bendis, and it'll sell.

Resurrecting Man actually should be a really good book. DnA are two great writers. But it's a book that doesn't have any star power...and that's why it - and most of the books like it - will not last.

The biggest problem with merging the two is that when Wildstorm was its own thing the Authority characters were the big guns, now they're part of a B or C list team and I don't see them being unrepentant killers in this book unless they decide to turn Martian Manhunter into one too.

Well, we've got confirmation that J'onn is still around. I'm worried and excited at the same time. To be honest, someone needed to come along and do something interesting with the Martian Manhunter and this definitely qualifies. I know a lot of people really like Cornell but I haven't been that impressed with his work, to be fair I've only read his Batman and Robin arc and a couple of issues of Knight and Squire. I've always wanted to read about some of the Wildstorm characters but never got around to it, so this seems like a good opportunity.

The other books that were announced seemed pretty good too. Nothing really terrible like yesterdays announcements. There's a lot of stuff there I'd like to check out but there are so many other books that I'll be getting.

Cornell is a pretty good fit in some ways for WS characters. I think one aspect of that universe tended to be the 'widescreen blockbuster' action that was constantly topping itself over and over again. That's pretty much Cornell in a nutshell, really. But the whole deconstruction aspect doesn't seem like something he digs too much, at least up to this point.

So yeah, I kind of think in line with Pryo Man that they'll be toned down in that aspect. Either that, or the other heroes don't have an issue with killing, or at least not as much so that they'll go after them like you'd expect them to.

Oh, well, I checked out Newsarama, and they have a description of Stormwatch:

Stormwatch is a dangerous super human strike force whose existence is kept secret from the world. Jack Hawksmoor and the rest of the crew look to recruit two of the deadliest super humans on the planet: Midnighter and Apollo. And if they say no? Perhaps the Martian Manhunter can change their minds. Featuring a surprising new roster, STORMWATCH #1 will be written by the critically-acclaimed Paul Cornell (Superman: The Black Ring, “Dr. Who”) and illustrated by Miguel Sepulveda.

So maybe that whole aspect would be an issue, at least for awhile. Though, why MM is there...anyone's guess.

I doubt the view on killing of the DCU at large will change but I could live with Martian Manhunter sort of meeting them in the middle with self defense killing and the occasional "no other option" situations being allowed.

Just found this out, but apparently the covers for Superboy, Supergirl and Superman leaked. Pick on these for a bigger version. The bottom half of Superman looks pretty bad :( Got to like how Supergirl evades the 'fear of bare legs' rule, sheesh. I do kind of like her redesign, though.

the bare legs rule was a rumor and not from DC

Also, for everyone who wants to keep up with it, here's a list of all the officially released titles, their creative teams, and whatever covers have been released. According to their list, which seems to be accurate, we have six reveals left. Three of those are the Super titles above that covers were leaked, and the fourth is definitely Action Comics. I wonder what the other two will be. I hope for Thunder Agents and Xombi, but my breath is not being held.

Pretty much every other mainstream female hero that were pantless were panted, so yeah, it might as well have been true.

hmmm.........not sure how I feel about Kara's new look.

I like the top half and the cape, but the bottom............I thought they were trying to get away from that??

From Cornell's website:

My second title for DC's September relaunch is Stormwatch!

That's Jack Hawksmoor, The Midnighter and, hey, the Martian Manhunter on the lovely cover to issue one. I can say very little else so far except that Apollo is also in the book, as are other characters, old and new, and yes, Apollo and The Midnighter remain out and proud. It's going to be a very exciting book, and, put together with Demon Knights, I think I've found a new playground I'm very happy with. More as the release date approaches, obviously.

And talking of Demon Knights, I've done an interview with Newsarama about the book, and just got off the phone with poor Vaneta for another one coming up soon about Stormwatch.

I love the new Kara, in my opinion it's one of the best redesigns.
Is Superboy an android? not sure about this.
And I believe I'll get used to the new Superman quick enough, belt is badly drawn though.

right now, I'm more interested in Kara's characterization than her costume redesign.

Looking at the Superman picture, I think it's probably the way it's drawn that struck me as so bad at first. The suit itself doesn't seem to be that bad, though the lack of trunks makes the whole thing look kind of off. I'm glad they didn't go seams crazy with it, though. I see they used a few here and there, but it's pretty reasonable overall.

It doesn't look that different really. Apart from the lack of trunks. The trunks were put on there just to break up the blue. The belt accomplishes this too, so i don't see the problem.
