DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 2

I won't mind another origin (or a retelling of his origins), just so long as his family, Paco, and Traci are still around and are still in the same roles they were. It sucked how little we got to see them after Blue Beetle got canned and Jaime ventured into Teen Titans and Booster Gold and the JL-spinoffs.

Yep his supporting cast were fab and it would be a real shame if they are not around anymore after Flashpoint

I like how Jim Lee says there's never been a good origin story for the JLA. He might as well go piss on Gardner Fox's grave while he's at it.

*****ucker.

He said there hasn't been a really awesome origin, something that makes fanboys of today scream "epic" and talk about how awesome it was, like a blockbuster movie. I mean the idea Geoff Johns has seems pretty good, yeah okay he's only mentioned 2 Green Lantern things, but both of them are really behind the mask personality things, which is the hook here with showing them as real people and having a good time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Batman and Flash become the fan favourites here, those two really should get along easily and talk about crime science for hours and whatnot.

Well yeah obviously Batman is a fan favourite, but Batman and Flash together, they could be a good dynamic duo due to how much in common they have. Barry Allen and Batman friendship is really underdeveloped and i hope Flashpoint is only the beginning of the brand new brave and bold duo that they make.

I just find this entire "relaunch" so biased. All of Geoff John's favorites go pretty much untouched (GL, Barry Allen, the new Blue Beetle), but some other characters just get totally screwed around. DC has the chance to bring Ted Kord and Booster Gold back together, and they don't because...?

Well, that kind of goes with the territory of Johns being the creative top dog for everything at DC Entertainment now. The universe was inevitably going to be remade in his image to some extent.

so the Bat books are keeping continuity??

Does that mean there's still hope for Cass?? :awesome:

Gail Simone said she'd like to use both Cass and Steph in her Babs-centric Batgirl if no one else uses them. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cass remain as Blackbat in Inc. and maybe Steph return to Spoiler to join that organization.

:awesome:

but I wanted Cass to be Batgirl.........:cmad:

but yeah.........the 3 of them together could become the Charlie's Angels of Gotham............:oldrazz:

Dang, now that would be an awesome status quo for a Batgirl book. 3 Batgirls, each with their own unique style but working together as a team. I would read that in a heartbeat.

lol

I wasn't even thinking of making them ALL Batgirls. But, yeah, that would be awesome!

I guess you'd have to call it...........Bruce's Angels or something........:oldrazz:

Batman didn't get touched either, outside of Barbara Gordon getting her spine fixed. Wonder Woman and Superman have required some good creative team considering JMS' Arc got broken in midway with Robinson coming along, Wonder Woman needs some good stories too, i'm still holding my final thoughts on WW Odyssey but theres good and then theres bad and then theres bad gory stuff.

DC has been pushing the new Blue Beetle into popularity with Batman the Brave and the Bold and it had a shot at getting his very own tv series aswell.

So, just curious: What does everyone think is going to happen with Wally? Johns wrote his comic for years, so I doubt he's going to literally just be forgotten. But clearly there seems to be some impetus to reduce everything back to one iconic bearer of each superhero title (aside from Green Lantern, which has multiple bearers built into its concept). So if not another Flash, what will Wally be? An adult Impulse, maybe? The Blur? Not-Flash? Or just a civilian who's connected to Barry? I'm very curious to see where he lands.

Barry Allen was DC's decision. Johns just went with it and took the challenge of doing something interesting with him.

As for GL, Johns turned it into a hugely successful franchise, with multiple titles that are always in the top 10 and with its own movie coming along. Why would they touch it?

Beetle is a fan favourite.

Ted Kord was considered a nuissance and a lame character until he died and people started looking at him and his bromance with Gold with nostalgia. Kord was yet another businessman with gadgets so i cant blame them for not bringing him back. Besides, Booster now has a bromance with Jaime. Still, i think Ted would have been a very interesting character but i can understand DC's decision.

That reminds me of Max Lord. I hope he stays post FP and he regularly appears to challenge the JL or the JLI.

With mutliple bat characters running around i dont see why we cant have multiple batgirls, and i mean Babs and Steph. Sure it would be confusing to the fans, but i dont know how they re going to explain it in universe.

I would buy 10 issues every month!

Guys this is a great idea!

Dick, Kyle and Wally book. You know you want it! :awesome:

Seriously though i bet Wally will be put in some kind of limbo. :csad:
Maybe he'll go to the future again or something.

I think they'll just dodge the issue of multiple Batgirls with the Blackbat and Spoiler identities. Which I'd be fine with. "Blackbat" is still kind of a stupid name and all, but if it at least lets Cass exist now that Babs is back in the Batgirl role, I'm fine with it.

I certainly would. DC probably wouldn't. The dual Titans/Teen Titans books idea didn't work out, obviously. It'll probably be some time before they try something like that again.

Urgh, 52 books and Wally nowhere to be seen. I spoke to Didio at a convention after Flash: Rebirth was announced; he said that Wally would continue to have a role in the DCU. Post Rebirth, the number of issues Wally's appeared in can probably be counted on one hand.

Dude lied to my face.

Well, he had a role. He was another Flash along with Barry and Jay. That we never really saw him in that role doesn't mean the role didn't exist. :oldrazz:

But yeah, it does suck. :csad:

It would have been so simple to just use him in the JLA which was supposed to be comprised by the new generation of heroes. They were hitting us over the head with that point for many issues with Hal going "its their league, not mine" and all that. So why didnt we get the dream team of Dick, Kyle, Wally, Donna and Kara? Well Kara is too young for it, but since they got her in there anyway...

It seemed like a reversal of the Morrison JLA, really. Wally and Kyle were on that with the classic versions of the other characters, so this time around we got the second-generation versions of the other characters with Barry and Hal.

I tried to welcome Barry back with open arms, but I didn't think it'd be at Wally's expense. I regret complaining about Wally's book with his stupid kids fighting gorillas now :(
