They didnt say they wont be sexy, they re just trying to make the suits more serious and not have ladies fight crime in bikinis.

And their male heroes all fighting in D&D armor, apparently.

if you say so earl...
im cautious in the whole matter of relaunching , because i dont wanna spend 4 dollars (for 32 pages) on somthing that is supposed to be great only to fizzle due to plot collapse (LOOKING AT YOU 9VOLT, the new Wetworks, the new Stormwatch, and if i remember correctly the new wildcats).if they reduced the prices to 2 dollars ill think about it and MAYBE pick up a few issues (assuming the price drop aint a gimmick )

till then i am going to fileshare ,and IF on the off chance the comic proves worth my attention ill go to my store an pick up said issue like i did with the LANTERNS recent sagas and FINAL CRISIS. ( i cant think of anything else noteworthy of bringing up).

sorry if you guys dont fileshare but i am not risking my money the way that gas prices are jacked up (if i dont like an issue i just delete it from my HD

Dont worry, i'll do it too. There's too many titles i want to try and its impossible to do it.

We'll meet in the open seas matey! Harrr!

Well, you are wrong on one count; the comics are actually 22 pages (10 of those 32 pages are ads) :p

Also, please don't use lime green front. It's assault to the eyes are like the Teen Titans' costume redesigns.

From what I gather, everyone will be keeping their continuity for the most part, only with some small adjustments and alterations here and there. Basically allowing for origin retellings, de-aging of characters, or cutting some of the loopy stuff from the 90s or whatever that people have had to write around. More of a Zero Hour style continuity tidy-up than hitting the "restart" button for anyone.

While that's true for most of the universe, it looks like Superboy and Supergirl are definitely getting hard reboots (which is to say, their existing history is gone and they're starting over), and the same may be true for Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, and Hawkman.

Ya know, Hal needs this more than anyone. Just to erase that whole Parallax ramapage/died/years as the Spectre silliness from his history.

Hal needs it least of all; the Parallax story has been the catalyst for the entire current volume of Green Lantern, which has been the most successful the character has ever been.

Why erase his past as Parallax? The most memorable parts of Hal's history involve him having to either overcome his own prejudices or that of others. I liked Hal when he was allowed character growth, which is typically denied of anyone in the DC universe not named Batman. Erasing that plot point just furthers his recent transformation into a green Superman seeking to prove how humanity's #1 at everything.

Dark Solicits. That was Zatanna after all. Happy she's there, bummed about that ****** costume.

Justice League Dark sounds pretty darn good and its being written by Peter Milligan so I think i will definitely read that series when it starts. I hope their not going to kill off the Enchantress though. I like her flying around in her fun witches hat and being sarcastic to everyone

SWAMP THING #1
Written by SCOTT SNYDER
Art and cover by YANICK PAQUETTE
On sale SEPTEMBER 7 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T+
One of the world’s most iconic characters has returned to the heart of the DC Universe, and every step he takes will shake the foundations of the Earth!
Alec Holland has his life back…but the Green has plans for it. A monstrous evil is rising in the desert, and it’ll take a monster of another kind to defend life as we know it!

Whut

Swamp Thing is not Alec Holland

He is as of Brightest Day. There was like a wall of text in the book about how it wasnt in the past, but now it will be because ST needs a human soul to guide it. The whole point of BD was to hamfistedly introduce new characters and set them up for their books.

Like... the elementals were completely unnecessary but whatever.

An Evil Eagle! Eagvle!

:awesome:

He should be a giant mutant eagle!

I liked Satana :hrt:

She was so kick ass and so sexy. And she had talking animals with samurai swords as her henchmen

:csad:

Sounds like i wont be buying the Swamp Thing comic book

Demon Knights looks like fun on a bun though. Xanadu and Etrigan starring in the sane comic sounds pretty good to me

Brightest Day was crap, but it doesnt affect ST. Holland is now ST, that is all.

Yeah, I took a look at that sequence in Brightest Day, and it left me rather underwhelmed and annoyed, to say the least. I'm just hoping that it's a case of Geoff Johns kinda botching the explanation of it, and Scott Snyder being able to salvage it into something better.

It could go one of two ways. The first way is that, as of Brightest Day, Alec Holland - newly resurrected, with no memories beyond his death - becoming the new Swamp Thing, with all the history of the previous Swamp Thing erased. That would suck, and be totally awful.

The other way is that this is the Swamp Thing we know and love, and the only way to RESTORE that Swamp Thing from the Nekron-possessed version was to link him to the soul of Alec Holland, as it was that connection to the essence of Holland that gave him his "humanity" in the first place. With this approach, the Nekron Swamp-Husk that was destroyed was not classic Swamp Thing being erased and replaced by a new continuity-free Swamp Thing. Instead, it was just a case of classic Swamp Thing generating a new body, like he regularly did in the Alan Moore comics. And that is a scenario I'd be fine with.

Yeah if that is what happened i guess that would not be a big deal

Is anyone here a Justice Society fan? I figure people JSA readers have got to be feeling burned; with Superman apparently returning to his position as the world's first superhero, it sounds like Jay, Alan, and the old-school society are out.

That sucks pretty hard. I think Superman probably should be the first superhero; I just wish it didn't have to come at the expense of the golden age heroe's place in the timeline.

Another interesting note is that this probably places Batman as the new timeline's second superhero, which is cool. Re-establishing Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as the forerunners of the superhero community is pretty sweet--but the (apparent) absence of the golden age heroes and their legacy sucks some of the history and life out of the DCU, in my opinion.

I love the JSA but if DC had any sense, this could work out well for them. They could either keep them on Earth-Two where they belong (and there they have their own Superman and WW), or if they do add them to this new DC Earth, then they don't have to be tied to WWII and therefore don't have to be 90 years old. But I trust them to screw up more than I trust them to get anything right.

I am going to call it. These so called new readers will not provide long term growth. Why?
Because they have no personal connection to the characters. NOthing invested. They will leave within 2 years because following these stories will require effort, something they are lacking.

Proof? They are the ones crying that these stories/characters are inaccessible due to high numbering of current books and decades of continuity. Thats a cop out. There are more trades/omnibuses/etc out now that at any previous period in the medium. Plus the internet provides an excellent research tool. It comes down to laziness.

Further proof would be the inability and laziness of some posters to read long posts. They have appreviations for this. tl, dr

gimme a freaking break. They textin/instant gratification/self absorbed teens/20 somethings have no patience and are in for a world of hurt in the real world. I know, I have friends as managers in the business world, account managers, controllers, HR people etc... they keep telling me how the 20 somethings must be reprimanded/fired because of all these book facing/texting/twiiter at work! And these are 20 somethings with post secondary training!

Well, even before twitter and texting, everytime they have tried one of these stupid reboots to bring in new readers, it failed within two years. Three things work to gain readers: good stories, good art, and the characters treated with respect. All else fails.

Not arch nemesis quality i take it, tho yeah Shadow Thief and Gentleman Ghost are kinda "big" it was Hath-set who was the arch evil really, but he's gone now.

The issue with Shadow-Thief and Gentleman Ghost is that they are both keep-away villains. I expect Hath-Set to be back eventually in some form, but Hawkman has had good flying villains before and that is a good direction to go in for new villains. I think Carter could use a René Belloq type enemy as well. I want more archeology in the new series.

Here's the official solicitations for September's relaunch/reboot/remake/re****/rewhatever

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=32768

Interesting little note, know the chick in the coat on the JLI cover that everyone was trying to figure? Well, she's not there at all now. Guess DC couldn't figure out who it was either?

DC should cancel that Batman Incorporated volume one (collects the first 7 issues) and just release all 10 issues in 1 Hardcover, i know they wanna cash in with Morrison's name but c'mon. :( Also the upcoming softcover that collects All Star Superman isn't having the bonus material from ALl Star Superman even tho the amazon info had listed same page count, shame i knew that was too good to be true. :p

What bonus material do you mean? The stuff from the Absolute edition?

Can I just say how underwhelmed I am about at least half of the proposed titles?

Batwoman issue one is going to be so :awesome:

Really glad that Paul Levitz is still the writer on Legion of Superheroes I will definitely buy that series

Going to be checking out Stormwatch too i am really interested to see how Cornell brings the Wildstorm characters into the DCU

Oh well, yeah, I'm not surprised they wouldn't include those. Don't want to undercut their high priced Absolute Editions or anything.
