DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 2

I find that I'll be checking out a lot of titles, though I don't know how many will make it onto my pull list.

I'm optimistic about Justice League, Green Lantern, Batman, Batwoman, Action Comics, and Batman & Robin.

I'll probably be checking out Red Hood, Dark Knight, Aquaman, New Guardians, Nightwing and Flash. These books will have to have solid first issues to sell me, though.

Despite Tony Daniel being the devil, deep in my fanboy core there is a directive that makes it impossible for me to not buy Detective Comics #1, so sadly I will be looking at that, too.

Meanwhile, I will be paying close attention to the reception of Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Swamp Thing, and Superboy--but I won't pick them up unless they sound fantastic.

A bit, in that it primarily follows young heroes. But it's more of a high school for superheroes. The Avengers set up a school, stocked the faculty with established superheroes like Hank Pym and Quicksilver, and then opened their doors to superhuman kids who wanted to train to become Avengers. The first class, since it opened right after all that Dark Reign stuff just ended, is made up entirely of young superhumans whom Norman Osborn tortured or brainwashed under his regime. The faculty is trying to reform them and encourage them to be heroes in spite of their damaged pasts.
Thanks for the info Corp!

It sounds pretty good!

See why couldnt DC do something like that and set up a new Young Justice program?

Because they believe Teen Titans is a much stronger franchise, which is probably true. They just need to make it not suck, which they haven't figured out how to do yet.

Ya but just like with JSA and JLA they can have two different groups for teens.

Well, they had it figured out when Johns relaunched it. Then they un-figured it out.

Avengers Academy has been really neat so far  its one of my favouritest Marvel comic books and I am digging the current cast of characters

It would be nice if the new Teen Titans series was as good but I am not optimistic

They're not. They're a hint that fanboys have caught feelings over the relaunches, just like they do over everything. I would be thoroughly surprised if the majority of the big-name titles, at least, didn't sell pretty well come September. I'd be even more surprised if a lot of the really good ones haven't started selling well a few months after that due to positive word of mouth and fans getting over their b****ing.

Although those stats on Batwoman do make me wonder what things would've been like if Rucka were still slated to write it.

I am positive that the Batwoman series is going to sell really well and i really hope that it does as it is the only comic I am really excited about. I will definitely be buying it as its the onky series from dc I am really looking forward to :atp:

I want to get into Marvel but the continuity is killing me. Its massive and everyone has been in 10 different Avengers, F4, Secret Avengers, Dark Avengers teams, not to mention the various Astonishing, marvellous, awesome, cool, badass, impressive X-men books, and god knows what else.

Also, Marvel feels so much more grounded and every superhero has so many problems and issues and everything happens in New York...

OK enough with the rant, seriously now the continuity is killing me.

The sense of continuity and stability is one of the most appealing things about Marvel for me. I at least have confidence that the entire line wont be completely rebooted every few years with the stories and characterization Ive red since the last one thrown completely out of the window, just to start over. I never could understand how DC fans could accept or get into that. To me that was the major turnoff from those books.

I dont mind that, it just makes it harder to catch up, you know?

You should check out the Young Avengers series and Runaways Earle they are both really fab and worth buying. Runaways by Brian K Vaughn is one of the best marvel comics i have ever read

Their is also not too much continuity you need to know to enjoy them :)

Good, good, i'll give them a try then. Thanks Mysti!

Btw does Pym slap the kids if they dont behave themselves? :awesome:

Only the women in the Avengers Academy

And then he makes them dress up as the Wasp :ninja:

I dont blame him. The Wasp is hawt and cute at the same time!

Agreed :hrt:

I loves her in the Avengers cartoon she is so cute and so funny. She is my favourite member of the Avengers team and I think she's definitely the most fun character

I would dress up like the Wasp during sex.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

I would

And I do ;)

I think I might be the only one that finds her annoying on that show. She literally is like a little bug

I think i have a bias for Wasp on that show. See, I fanbi*&ch'd and fan-complained about how much of the Young Justce show's characters are nothing like their comic-book characters, but Wasp gets a pass. She's...fun.

Jan has always been fun. Even when she straightened up and took the chairmanship. She still went out to get her hair did with Sue and Jen.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

HA! "Impressive X-Men #502."

God, is it bad that I totally want that book to exist?
