DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 9

The DC Boards were shut down permanently shortly after the New 52, I remember because I posted there sometimes.

weird. was the response to the new 52 on the DC boards negative? was the closure of the forums just some thin skinned reaction from DC?

That's what they said at first but then they pull all this crap with Final Crisis never having happened along with Tim's tenure as Robin, therefore negating pretty much all of what they wanted to have continue.

yeah, it makes no sense to say none of the previous crisis' ever happened, yet batmans continuity is unaffected....since final crisis is essentially the base of batmans current character and arc.

Dick admitted to being Batman in Nightwing #1.

I suspect once Morrison is done, it'll never be referenced again. Nightwing's already back in the b-list and acting like a rookie, so all it's going to take for them to retcon it out of existence is simply for no one to ever talk about it.

Man, I miss the era of Double Batman...

Dick and Damian in Batman and Robin was just so good. And Tim in the Red Robin solo book. I miss that time. That was some good stuff.

Stephanie Brown was an awesome Batgirl too.

DC really shouldn't have ever rebooted. They should've just kept what was working, and got rid of what wasn't.

I like the steph/babs replacement references in batman inc. 3 tbqh

Neither. The reaction was almost entirely positive, minus a few people just hating on the no trunks policy. But it was shutdown as part of the "New 52" initiative, that reformatted the DC blog too. It's mainly based around fb and twitter now.

So I wasn't the only one who thought that about the first page?

I like the call backs to the noirish elements of Morrison's run. Particularly

Trust and sympathy towards a devilish red head being the undoing of Matches like with Bruce and Marsha Lamarr or Batman with Jezebel Jet. She even had a 4 syllable name like those other conniving red heads too.

I can appreciate how the New 52 isn't everyone's favorite thing. With that said, it astonishes me how no one is ever pleased. On one end I would hear complaints, mainly from people at my local comic book store, how stories would get recycled, would become stale, etc. So DC does something to shake it up in a pretty ballsy way and that's not good enough either. I love it. I have garnered so much love and appreciation for characters and books that I would never have otherwise. I tried jumping onto Supes, Flash and a couple others before the reboot and just couldn't I don't know why I couldn't connect to them. I am now a year in and LOVE Superman, LOVE Flash. I have been able to follow the story from the beginning and it's been great. I get that there is history and maybe people feel abandoned or something. In my own selfish way it has opened me up to a whole new world that's not just Batman in reference to the DC universe.

Quite alternatively. Pre N52, I was a die hard Green Arrow fan. I started with Kevin Smiths run and followed the whole series until the relaunch. It had it's up and downs but I loved it. I do NOT like N52 Green Arrow. Which, to my dismay, I have dropped the book. So yeah, not PERFECT.

Fina say.. after being a Marvel reader most of my life all I can say is N52 is better than the endless events that are crammed on the shelves. Personal opinion and all.

Overall I'm digging the new 52

Some of the comic books suck or are just kind of meh but I am really enjoying most of the comic books DC are publishing

And I'm absolutely loving Batwoman, Legion of Superheroes, Stormwatch, Birds of Prey and Demon Knights

I like The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman. And at least one book from the Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern lines. That's a win for me, especially with stuff like Animal Man, Swamp Thing and a handful of others.

The Flash has been really neat :)

I dig the new look for Golden Glider

And I'm excited to see what Hartley will be like in his costumed hero identity now he's the Pied Piper again

I dropped Stormwatch which makes me sad. I just stopped caring. I started to stop caring before but the Red Lantern stuff is when I officially dropped it. :csad:

I still read Red Lanterns, but not Stormwatch, it just became too boring.

Since my shop has limited selection, I will say that thus far I am loving Batman, Batwoman, Action Comics, and Batman and Robin. Oddly enough, I have been enjoying the backup story in Detective Comics more than the primary one.

Does your shop allow you to specific ask to order a book they can get through Diamond? Because so many of the great New 52 books aren't on your small list in that post. :oldrazz:

I know some people said some shops they go to won't which is stupid and THAT is part of the problem of failing comic shops. :csad:

I also liked the scene with Dick. Which harkens back to how he would differentiate Dick and Bruce as Batman. Bruce would be prepared for any eventuality, but Dick would always save the day just in the nick of time.

All encapsulated in the line "[I arrived on time]".

That sucks man truly does. If there is no demand for a book the simple fact that Diamond does carry it means I can ask them to get me 1 copy of it. After talking to several people from around the country at cons and on forums it's a shame not nearly enough shops are like mine.

I think I have the best shop in the US outside of Midtown Comics in NYC. I only say that because I imagine they would be the best since sales wise they are and have multiple locations like my shop does. My shop is Bedrock City Comics in TX.

It probably is.

At the same time, it's just a shame that it couldn't have been even better by retaining all of the good things from Pre-New52, and by getting rid of all of that bad.

I maintain that they still shoulda went with a full reboot. This picking and choosing s**t ALWAYS causes problems.

Besides, going by sales of the books before the pre-Nu52, that's exactly what they did.

Earth 2 was pretty good this week. I'm digging this new take on Solomon Grundy so far

My shop was sold out of Stormwatch though :csad:
