Um... I'm kind of low on stuff to talk about from DC these days... Oh, how about that Sword of Sorcery, huh? Lots of changes to the details of Amethyst's origin, but I think there's some potential there. It seems like they might even be going for a more Conan-esque sword-and-sorcery style this time instead of the pure fantasy of the original version, which is okay with me. It seems pretty clear that Amy's mom will die almost immediately and leave Amy in command of the resistance against Nilaa's (the name of which is my least favorite part of the reboot--Gemworld worked just fine) queen.

Sword of Sorcery was so good

It's a different take on Amethyst but she still seems really neat and heroic and I'm really interested to see where things go from here it looks like it'll be a pretty good fantasy comic book

I hope Amethyst still has her flying unicorn in this series. That was fun on a bun

Really happy they've kept her classic look pretty much too

But Nilaa should be called Gemworld darn it

I think i'm not going to get Sword of Sorcery, doesn't seem very interesting and i kind of think that Demon Knights is enough, in least for me.

I'm going to be getting both I think their different enough to both be enjoyable

Where'd ya go, Raven fan?

At the Las Vegas Comic Con – the second comic convention happening in Las Vegas this weekend – Scott Lobdell talked about a lot of things in the pipeline.

Principally it seems, his plans to spin off a second Teen Titans book starring Raven in a year’s time, towards the end of 2013. Teen Titans have been a relative success story in the New 52, and DC has been rewarding the titles that have performed well with new spinoff books, such as Justice League Of America, Talon and the as-yet-unannounced Man Of Steel.

Such a team, as well might also see the likes of Blue Beetle and Static join its ranks. And also might lead to a rush on the upcoming Phantom Stranger #1, which looks like it will feature the first appearance of Raven in the New 52…

No, they're great. They're two of the best books that Marvel puts out alongside Avengers Academy, Journey into Mystery, and the Punisher.

Nice to see a few familiar faces still active.


But yeah, Daredevil. DAREDEVIL.

I'm not bothered about a Raven title. I'd rather have Red Robin tbqh. It's a shame he's the only member of the Bat-family to not have his own ongoing. I know Teen Titans is basically "Red Robin and the Teen Titans", but I like to prefer that book isn't happening.

Couldn't care less about Raven, but if Static and Blue Beetle are on, I might give it a look. Depends largely on who the creators are, though. If Lobdell's writing, I'll skip it.

They really need to start weaving in fan favorite characters who can't support their own titles into higher profile books.

Kinda like what they did with OMAC and Batwing in JLI.

Only if they didn't cancel JLI immediately thereafter.

I'd dig seeing characters like Rose and Thorn or the new Phantom Lady or even Looker show up in Birds of Prey or Batgirl maybe

Or in the Superman books as the new Phantom Lady is going to be based in Metropolis

Also the new issue of Stormwatch this week and its looking pretty neat. It's focusing on Apollo and Midnighter who are my favourite characters in the series and Etrigan shall be showing up too which should be fab

I just wish they'd put Fabian Nicieza back on a Red Robin solo book, and bring Marcus To along as well. If anyone can make Tim's new 52 suit look good it's him, though I do like Brett Booth fine.

Brett Booth's art is utter crap.

I gotta say...Booth has grown on me.

He's still pretty rough around the edges, but with the right inker and colorist, he's pretty good.

I don't know, the fact that he's still "rough around the edges" after, what, 20 years in the industry? That tends to be pretty good evidence of endemic suckage.

Except for the fact, there's a ton of big name artists who've been around for 20 years who downright suck. So by comparison, he's not bad. Plus he's drawn some pretty nice panels and splash pages.

I'd like to see him on a book where the writing doesn't suck ass.

Nor do torsos, in Cassie's case. But the specifics aren't really as important as the fact that his style as a whole is just ugly to me.
