If Agent Carter is a hit, how about the idea of giving Peggy her youth back and having her join the modern team?

It's an easy concept to write now that Whitehall has done it to himself. Create a scenario where Peggy has information that could save thousands. Her health and mental state are so bad that Coulson can't access the information. With Whitehall in SHIELD custody, have Coulson order Simmons to perform the procedure Whitehall did on Skye's mom to Whitehall himself using his own notes. This would put Simmons in a moral crisis and make good drama. What would the rest of the team think about Coulson ordering the butchering of a guy in order to give Peggy her youth back?

How would Peggy feel being pulled in to the Inhumans/GH-325 club without consent? After she's young again and aiding Coulson's team she would have to hide from her loved ones (kids, Sharon, Steve)for their own good just like Coulson is hiding from the cellist. Maybe have fears of the procedure not being permanent or having side-effects.

As they work and lament isolation from those they love, maybe Phil and Peggy would develop romantic feelings. She would feel guilty and never want to tell Steve. Coulson would feel the same way doing such a thing to his idol. All this would add quite the texture to season's three or four.

As a rule, I am against doing anything of the sort. It cheapens characters, and hurts the world. It is rare to see an example of something like this where the character doesn't come off worse for the wear. Also, most period characters don't work as well in the present.

That said, I am willing to wave aside those concerns because Hayley Atwell and Marvel have made me love Peggy enough to want her in the modern day, and given me enough reason to trust them to pull it off. (Also, that way she and Steve can be together again.)

That would not only be unneccesarily complex, but would also make her scene in Winter Soldier completely pointless.

It wouldn't affect the TWS scene at all? It wasn't like she died, all it did was show how sad Steve was, and to be able to organically show why Steve joined S.H.I.E.L.D.

If it's a hit, re up it as is.

Why mess with something that the viewers already like.

Agent Carter at 8, and Agents of Shield at 9 next year works for me.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say..Hell no...

If it happens, it would cheapen the nice and sweet scene between Steve and aged Peggy...

So no. My answer is no.

What if she was actually the Clairvoyant? :funny:

No offense OP, but that sounds just awful. I love the period piece idea of running Agent Carter in parallel with AoS, no reason to bring her into the present

I Will like it so in essence yes.

I almost agree with you, except I fall on the other side of the coin. I was in that minority that wanted Hayley Atwell to also play Sharon Carter, and was so very happy that they found a place for a character and actress I thought did such a wonderful job. So sufficed to say, I am a biased voice that would be more likely than anyone to go for something like that.

But you just can't. In a vacuum, maybe. But a de-aged Peggy affects so many other things; namely, Cap and the aforementioned Sharon Carter. It really cheapen Cap's arc if you add yet another person from his past that's now just as young as he is. It cheapens what he went through and undermines the whole idea of him being a "man out of time." Sure, she could pull a Coulson and be insulated from any movie storyline by the whole thing being top secret...but gosh, that's a hard enough of a pill to swallow with Coulson.

I want to believe something like that could be done without seeming incredibly cheap...but I just can't. This whole thing is a major balancing act, and even as major of a Hayley Atwell fanboy as I am, that would be so difficult not to cringe at.

It would be shark jumping of the highest order.

I agree with you, I was just trying to say (though I said it poorly) that I love the idea. You expressed my feelings better than I did:yay:.

I'm not too crazy about this idea, because as presented, it sounds like a gimmick. If she were to be brought back, I'd imagine she'd have had enough of the spy lifestyle, and would probably just want to disappear anyway. I can't really see her receiving the fountain of youth and jumping right back into the saddle as if it were nothing.

An Alternate Reality Peggy might make more sense

Peggy Carter is getting 8 episodes...and I think that is plenty. TV shows should last as long as the story requires, not as long as the money flows in.

As far as de-aging her and having her join A0S...that is an awful idea, no offense.

Steve Rogers could finally get lucky if this happened.:hehe: Steve just isn't going for the younger girls because he still has a thing for Peggy.
