Dexter - Part 4

I'd approve of that, even if it's as simple as her remembering Harry drilled her (heh) for info and putting the pieces together or something like that. Of course, it'd make her endgame surely sinister.

....Yeah, okay, that's totally the case anyway. Who am I kidding.

Even if it doesn't turn out that way, the pieces are there, it would make sense.

It's interesting to note that Dexter never really had a mother figure in his life. His biological mother was murdered, and we feel that he was fairly ambivalent about Harry's wife.

If the good old Dr. Vogler was, in fact, the person who actually designed the code and the programming techniques that Harry used on Dexter, then she could be the female parental figure Dexter was always missing.

Yes, it's very interesting indeed.

They mentioned how she was in Miami decades earlier so I think the most logical explanation is that Harry went to her as a desperate man trying to find a way to help Dexter and she helped him create the code. Then given that Dexter was still young, never told him about this aspect of The Code, then died while Dexter was barely an adult and just never got around to telling him about it. Parents keep things from their children all the time and given the fact that she had pictures Dexter drew as a child I'd say Harry took her to see her when he was very young when he first started recognizing the signs of psychopathy or sociopathy. At this point, I'll be disappointed if I'm wrong because then why the **** would she have those pictures Dex drew.

They could be fakes? It's not as if those are Picasso level pictures there :p

I don't know, it seems her character is alright, so I'm willing to see where it unfolds naturally, but I find the idea of her faking something to get close to, or simply **** with, Dexter much more interesting than, 'Everything you know is lie, I made the code, I am the code.' It would also make a lot more sense why she's just now coming out to Dexter after 30+ years.

I mean, unless she actively tries to be his adoptive mother now, I think that ship has sailed...

Ok start, I won't have any high expectations on how they'll end the show, they've blow their load since the show never has any consequences for Dexter over the course of its run, the murder case they're investigating aren't interesting, I've been spoiled by Hannibal.

Definitely. Pardon the expression, but Hannibal is a cut above even Dexter's best season.

I think it's pretty clear she was involved in helping Harry make the code, which I don't really mind. It would make sense, he wasn't a psychiatrist, so he would have sought help from someone with experience.

Really cool reveal with [blackout]Vogler knowing Dexter.[/blackout]

Really? I have a hard time believing that. The first season of Dexter is still one of my favorite seasons of television ever. I need to watch Hannibal though if people are liking it that much.

When comparing the storylines of s1 Hannibal and s1 and s4 Dexter, the quality is roughly equal.

Where Hannibal exceeds Dexter is in the pure artistry of how the show is shot, edited and composed. Hannibal brings film-quality execution back to television. Some episodes of Hannibal this year I would have paid money to see in a movie theatre.

yea, after the mind numbing experience that was hannibal, idk if i'll be able to take this show seriously. this last season anyway. everything about the show has changed so much, and not entirely for the better either. but i'll try to make through this much needed end.

While I definetely think they should've done something different with Dexter -with him on the run, as a fugitive, or something like that- and with the exception of maybe season 6, most series can't even reach 8 seasons with this level. I think Dexter has been pretty consistent and, most of all, entertaining, which is always a hard thing to achieve.

Hannibal is fantastic... but Dexter set the table for it. :o

Hannibal is headed by Bryan Fuller, so honestly, that's all you need to know. I'm not bashing Dexter in saying that, but that guy really brings things to another level when he's on his game, and he's on his game with Hannibal with all cylinders pumping.

Really, do you need to be a psychiatrist to help make a code that is essentially, "Kill bad people...oh, well, and make sure they're really bad."

El Sapo... You poor soul. Enjoy ****ing with the wrong crazy bastards sister and at the worst possible time.

Rule #1... DON'T POKE THE BEAR WHEN THE BEAR IS LOSING HIS ****

:hehe:

Not necessarily making the code, but trying to find a way to implement it that would stick. Harry may have wanted help on how to teach the code to Dexter in a way that Dexter would accept it. I mean, I don't imagine it would be easy to teach a sociopath/psychopath and have them accept it. If it was, they would accept the rules of society, because those are essentially taught.

And I'll definitely have to check out Hannibal. It sounds great.

In terms of Dexter as a whole...yeah. Season 1 was the all time high for me. Season 4 was a close second. S2 was solid, S7 was good, S5 was okay, S6 started out great and squandered it's potential, and S3 was the weakest for me.

The issue I've had with the show is that, aside from season 2, they just don't have good enough follow ups to their "big" events. I think that's why so many were so hard on Season 5. We needed to see a much bigger emotional fall out with Dex losing Rita, and we essentially got Dex throwing a temper tantrum for an episode and...that was it. They do that too often in this show, introduce an interesting idea and have it lead to nothing. In season...3 I think? Dex kills an innocent person. MAJOR CODE VIOLATION...and he feels bad about it...and that's it. That was annoying to me, because I think it should have been a bigger deal. And they did stuff like that all the time.

I still love the show, because it gave me two completely amazing seasons of television, and a lot of really good seasons, but it definitely was inconsistent. Hopefully they go out with a bang.

Dexter really was losing his **** this episode. That's what I wanna see a lot more of, Dexter just completely on edge and flipping the **** out. God I hope he gets caught or something

Rule #1: Don't. Get. Caught.

How far will that take Dexter? What if Deb wants to catch him?

Is the hotel that Deb is staying at with that Coke head, the one the first ice truck victim was found at?

Hannibal was awesome! Nice and dark and creepy. :D

Well, I guess. I don't know, it still seems like something a reasonably intelligent man like Harry could have done without outside help to me, but I guess this point is valid enough to justify that.

Wow new clip on Kimmel tonight... Vogel is really interesting and I hated the idea of her at first.

I'm always pretty open-minded to characters, even if the situation they arise from twitches my nose.
