Dexter - Part 4

Random thoughts today...

Deb should have caught him in season 5, and season 6 is basically the real season 7; lose Hanks/Olmos crap. Then season 7 was Dexter on the run and then caught in the finale...

Season 8 would be about Miami Metro breaking out or letting Dex loose to catch a super big-bad. A) Quinn should know by now and be ok with it. B) Masuka/Batista would be on the fence but feel it should be right. C) Deb quits then because she honestly feels Dex is the true evil (like how we're seeing now).

Then the series finale could go two ways;

1. Dexter stays alive but Miami Metro makes him kill his 'identity' and disappear...

2. Dexter dies while saving someone important and he is vilified as a hero.

I don't know. I just feel s5/s6 retread too much over each other. s7 was alright but it was only worth it for the Deb/Dex break-up... Everything else was a waste.

I think you had me until your version of season 8, and the ending would be too cheesy and panderous. If Dexter does end up being caught or exposed or whatever, it should totally shattered any and all connections he has with people. It pretty much has to.

The idea of using Dexter as kind of this Hannibal character could work, but the dynamic is so different, it would feel like a different show. And I don't think you could realistically portray any of his former friends working with him after that bomb drops. No way.

could be just me, but does it look like the camera Vogel used to film Harry's sessions is hidden?

It could be. But I think during one of the videos it looks clear that she is standing and then sitting down, which I took as indication of her turning it on.

Possibly. I don't know how Harry would feel being recorded on video saying not only did he know Dexter was dangerous but he also indirectly aided in his murder of people, even if they were criminals.

I hope Vogel doesn't end up being the hand with the pistol. It would be too predictable for my tastes.

That was my thought too when I saw the hand with the gun. My first thought was, "please don't let this turn out to be Vogel." It's as predictable as Gellar being dead.

Forget about the person with the pistol... what about THE PERSON IN A SHIRT AND SKIRT that walks infront of the camera before the dude gets up and shoots the guy...

oh christ... please don't be Vogel.

I actually think it'd be worst than Gellar. Least with Gellar they presented evidence that it could go either way all the way up to the reveal and then it went to ****. I mean yea it was obvious for a while but they put it off to where a lot of us were starting to really wonder if it was gonna end up being true or not. This here if it turns out to be true is dumb now, will be dumb later and till the end. Gellar just sucked mainly cuz Travis sucked and most seen the reveal coming. This is just TOO blatantly obvious. They couldn't be that dumb, could they?

I think it is, that would be typical for this show. Maybe she has become so enthralled with her psychos that she has become one herself. I was thinking this when she kept questioning Dex about Deb. She keeps expecting him to just dismiss his sister, I think, because she has no feelings herself.

It would be interesting if Vogel simply observes her pet psychopaths in action, but actually does nothing to either encourage or facilitate their acts. That way, she does not fit Dexter's code, and he's not "allowed" to kill her.

However, I would still prefer her to actually not be directly involved with the Brain Surgeon at all. I think the character is perfectly morally compromised as she is, without having to be party to a serial killer.

What if it was Deb?

Thats what I was thinking. What if Deb is behind this is in some way?

And where did she learn to be so surgical in doing the whole brain-scooping thing? Deb makes no sense to be the killer.

It was really a woman in a blouse and skirt who walked past the camera before we saw the pistol go up to the dude's head??

Deb being the brain scoop killer is probably the worst idea for the show yet. Worse than the "twist" of season 6 that was obvious halfway through the first episode.

Hannah, maybe? (I haven't seen the episodes yet, I'm just speculating)

Highly doubt it is Hannah... and it is a better chance that it is LaGuerta or Rita than it is Deb.

It would be fine if Hannah was revealed to be the Brain Surgeon. It'd make some kind of twisted sense, IMO. Plus, it would be unexpected. But Vogel? That'd be lame and sort of a "That's it?" moment, if you ask me.
