my guess is that Vogel is an undercover agent, & finally after 8 seasons. Dexter's blind trust & need for companionship will bite him in the buns for the last time.

My guess anyway.

Yeah, I'm definitely not liking the sound of that. Feels completely out of left field, I'm not even sure why we need this character in the first place. We have so much left open from the last season, that it feels like clutter. It also makes me worry that the whole Hannah plot will end up getting kind of swept aside anti-climatically like Louis's did from 6 to 7 in favor of this Vogel character.

IMO... It is either a red herring that only lasts a few episodes.. but has meaning... or... we get a deeper story with Harry (which if done right is awesome) ....or.... they completely **** up the final season.

Honestly, all Dexter love aside... This sounds ****ing stupid.

So we've got Dr. Vogel, Liev's character, Deb drowning herself into alcohool and Hannah's return! It's gonna be A LOT to deal with, I hope it doesn't turn into a mess. As for Dexter, I don't see him surviving this Season. Even if he does, he's gonna be behind bars/death sentence maybe OR he will finally stop killing , becoming more & more human, but the latter is a long shot to be honest and I don't see it happening.

Dexter will never stop killing... until he is put down like a dog with rabies.

Yeah I think Dex will sacrifice himself for Deb and Harrison either by death or going to jail. Showing that he does have empathy (Which we know or at least I know) and that the code was not perfect but it kinda worked in the end. I also think going back to Dexter's origin is the right move for the final season

and I'm hoping that the writers pull it off with giving Harry a deeper backstory and with this Vogel character making Harry a more tragic figure.

This is common for the ending of trilogies and sometimes TV series. Dexter thought he knew all there was to know about Harry and the Code that Dexter has followed for all of his adult life, but this revelation is something that will shake him to his core and potentially change the way he views the Code and himself. I think it will all come together once we start seeing those flashbacks.

You can say it's not a recton, and that it is just new information we find out, but that's kind of what a recton is in a lot of ways. Especially when the character in question seems to know this all along, like what seems to be implied by the spoilers we've read.
