Dexter - Part 4

Anyway, as for this season, my theory:

This woman was Dexter's childhood therapist or something along those lines. She helped Harry craft the code. As co-creator of the Code, she then passed it on to another psychopath, the season's killer, the brain guy. He is now every bit as careful and cunning as Dexter, knowing all of Harry's tricks for blending in and not getting caught, but has forsaken the moral aspects of the Code. Basically, he is the anti-Dexter. This will tie in nicely to the Deb storyline, as she will finally see what a true monster Dexter can be but isn't and at least somewhat come to terms with him.

Isn't Dexter the anti-Dexter right now? Last season he gave up on the code, he kills who he wants to kill. Plus thats a rehash of every other big bad.

I don't see it happening.

Do you think Dexter will live on or will the new killer or someone else do him in?

I'm not sure how they'd end it with him being caught. That seems anti-climatic and a waste of build up. Other options don't sound so appealing either like his escaping capture or just going on like normal with or without Deb. Those feel like they lack resolution and finality.

Of course I could (probably am) wrong and they have a different satisfying, definitive ending already but I'm not seeing it.

I think it'll be a relatively happy ending. I don't think that Showtime wants to close the door on the character all together. TV shows into movies are becoming a reality and Dexter, if nothing else, lends itself to a TV movie on Showtime. It would be an event for Showtime. I think that 24's return could change TV quite a bit. Networks may be more open to revisiting their more popular characters. 24 already changed the game by making serials mainstream (now everything is serialized). It might do it again. And I don't think Showtime will risk killing or incarcerating Dexter and completely closing the door.

That may be so but this also isn't a normal series. A Dexter movie could be interesting. Maybe an ultra-condensed story of his going after some big-bad.

i wouldn't want a Dexter movie...

good episode. creepy as ****.. also the new killer is kind of a mix between some book killers. with the video taping etc

good job by MCH directing too

Yeah, I too, have thought of this. They keep Gunsmoke going for years after it ended with TV movies. I've often wondered if that's how TV is going now again.

Yeah, pretty much. He enjoy mentioned last season how he didn't even feel like he 'needed' to kill much anymore. It's like he's doing it out of pure enjoyment anymore, outside any kind of urge.

MCH did say he was done with Dex after this season so who knows what happens.

Oh well, that would change everything. Of course, actors could change their mind, which is something the networks would be banking on if they pressured such an ending.

But that wouldn't guarantee a happy ending, either. Dexter is the only character that would have to come back. The rest? Bloodbath finale!

Anybody else get the feeling Vogel is actually the killer? All the pieces fit. She would have to manipulate people into killing for her since she isn't very strong. Dunno if I'd dig it at all though

That was my inclination after watching the video...but why involve Dex? Maybe she knew he would hunt her and eventually find her so instead she got out ahead of the gate and manipulated him to her own end?

To me, that would be just as obvious a twist as Gellar being Travis's 'Harry'. god i hope thats not it at all. I want the killer to get Vogel and enrage him.

Yea I kept thinking of Gellar and Travis when it occurred it to me. ****ing lame if it ends up being true

yea its terrible. she was such an obvious suspect in the premiere I thought it couldn't possibly be THAT bad.

This woman is being presented far too cheepily not to be some psychopath. Even if she's not the brain scooper, she seems to have some kind of fetish for that kind of ****.

which is fine, but please don't let her be the BS

I do have a feeling that Vogel is testing Dexter. She knows exactly who the Brain Surgeon is.

Ok I'm confused. On the old recording Harry is talking to Vogel about Dexter's 3rd kill. But back in Season 2 we found out Harry committed suicide shorting after discovering Dexter's 1st kill.

WTH writers?

No, Harry knows about Dexters first kill. It was Harry's nurse. Harry killed himself when he walked in on Dexter killing someone. He saw what he helped create. Thats when he decided to do it. There's no real time frame from Dexters first kill (harrys nurse) or the drug dealer harry walked in on.

Ok. I guess I had the timeline a little off.

Yea it's weird at times. When Dexter gets rid of the nurse, Harry starts getting better... well better for someone who is terminally ill. and last a few more years.

Harrys
suicide... he got so angry a murderer he busted got away with it, he told Dex to take him out. He walked in on Dex cutting him into pieces and freaked out.

Yeah it's been so long ago I thought that was the first one Harry knew about.

Ohh yea! That's right. I remember now. I was a bit confused as well. Although, it does seem there have been multiple times we've heard them refer to a specific kill as Dexter's first.
