Dexter - Part 4

well, show wise, I am 100% positive the nurse was his first human kill. I just don't think Harry knew anything about the ritual and the dismemberment etc which led him to the suicide.

Lol yeah but it's like what did he expect.

Also I loved how this episode showed how much Harry truly loved Dexter I mean we have seen that before in the early first two seasons with the flashbacks but not like this. I wished the still kept the flashbacks instead of doing ghost Harry.

I do have a feeling that Vogel is testing Dexter. She knows exactly who the Brain Surgeon is.

I agree completely. It's almost like she wants Dec to get back to living by the Code and not worrying about Deb. Not only may she know who the killer is, but she could be behind the whole thing, crafting this web of kills to re-focus Dexter's mind to believe in himself and the Code again...or she may have more malicious purposes for all this.

How convenient was it that she called Dex about someone being in her house (when we never saw anyone), and then led Dex to find the killers video? It almost seemed like she threw him a big bone to show him that he was wrong about the guy from the cabin being the killer.

I'm pretty sure she ends up on Dexter's table before this is done.

Oh yea, she'll be on the table. I gotta say though, I'm kinda digging her. It's an interesting angle for a new possible big bad that's for sure

Yeah I like it. They're introducing a lot of interesting little tidbits (including this Deb and Quinn business) that will most likely be huge plot points later on. I can see Quinn is worrying about Deb. He might do some digging to find out what happened to her, after which he might be on to Dexter, pass the info on to Angel, etc.

TWIST!

This season's big bad is Masuka!

Also he was manipulating every big bad in every season!

Quinn is already onto Dexter! Why does everyone, including the writers, forget this plot point? The fact that Quinn has blindly ignored Maria's suspicions and then death show how poor these writers are at handling Quinn, a character who had so much potential after season four, which was just squandered.

"oh look a perfectly placed DVD, Dexter did you see this awkwardly positioned DVD? I think its supposed to be a message... it is certainly not mine."

:lmao:

I've been saying this for three years now man. Such a. Sad waste cuz he was a really great character

But it almost feels too obvious.

Kind of like how Edward James Olmos being Hank's dark passenger seemed too obvious?

its just, Dexter being as good as he is.... that would be obvious to him... he searched the house and didn't even notice a perfectly placed DVD lol

I think it would be cool to do a Hannibal type thing, & have Dexter get caught by Deb. Then Deb returns to Miami Metro, & uses Dexter as a Hannibal type.

Those would be cool in my opinion. MCH wouldn't have to be there all the time. The show would be more about Deb. MCH would show up like 4 times a season.

When Deb his dropping all this knowledge on to Dexter. I can't help but wonder how much of this is catharsis for Carpenter on how she feels about MCH.

it feels a bit awkward right? Professionalism be damned, you know they have to feel strange.

Nah, they're fine. It was a very cordial breakup.

Random thoughts today...

Deb should have caught him in season 5, and season 6 is basically the real season 7; lose Hanks/Olmos crap. Then season 7 was Dexter on the run and then caught in the finale...

Season 8 would be about Miami Metro breaking out or letting Dex loose to catch a super big-bad. A) Quinn should know by now and be ok with it. B) Masuka/Batista would be on the fence but feel it should be right. C) Deb quits then because she honestly feels Dex is the true evil (like how we're seeing now).

Then the series finale could go two ways;

1. Dexter stays alive but Miami Metro makes him kill his 'identity' and disappear...

2. Dexter dies while saving someone important and he is vilified as a hero.

I don't know. I just feel s5/s6 retread too much over each other. s7 was alright but it was only worth it for the Deb/Dex break-up... Everything else was a waste.

Season 7 was good for the conversations between Dexter and Deb that I'd been waiting years for. That whole shift in perspective in how she seems him and her dad was pretty well written and acted.

Yea that was def the best part of 7. I like Hannah but she wasn't that great. 5 was an awesome season though and if they'd kept going with it in season 6 this show could have truly found it's greatness again. Even if Dev still let them go, just if Quinn stayed on Dexter's case I coulda been happy. I'll always love this show but it does feel like such wasted potential

Just caught up on episode 2. Good stuff. I really like the dynamic between Vogel and Dexter. I don't have any issue with the minor retcon her introduction might have been.

But I can't figure out if she really wants to help Dexter, or if she wants to put him down like a monstrous creation that has gotten out of control.
