Dexter Morgan’s little underground vigilante operation is about to reopen for business.

Production on Dexter‘s sixth season gets underway at month’s end — ahead of a likely September premiere — and TVLine has an early look at the new blood being brought in to fill the void left by Julia Stiles, Peter Weller and Co.

Among the three recurring roles being cast are…

| Jamie: Described as an outgoing and fun Latina in her mid-20s, this Florida native relocates to Miami for grad school.

| Chicago Mike: New thirtysomething African-American homicide detective who possesses a finely turned BS detector. The Windy City native does not play well with Dexter others.

| Louis: A buddy of Masuka’s (C.S. Lee) who joins MMP as a new lab intern. Role calls for a Caucasian actor in his 30s who is “attractive in his own way.”

The second one sounds like Doakes.

I know I'm overreacting, but the tagline "hell breaks loose" made me think of the third book, in which it's revealed that Dexter's "dark passenger" is actually a demon inside of him.

I really hope that doesn't happen.

it's possible they didn't mention it because it was so recent, and just wanted to refresh of the seasons before it.

I figure they left it out because the theme of season 5 didn't fit in with the trailer. The trailer was all about Dexter's life spinning out of control. Season 5 was about him regaining that control and figuring out how to live without Rita.

i don't really get the Season 5 hate. i thought it was good. but sure, compared to Season 1, 2, & 4 it was pretty weak. what was pretty disappointing about Season 5 was the finale. it had such a great build up to the finale, but the end was rather....meh

Agreed, I really enjoyed season 5. But the season finale can make or break an entire season. In this case it broke it.

lol maybe. The only moment I really loved was when he kicked that abusive father's ass and made him leave, everything else was predictable or anticlimactic.

Add in the subplots: Bautistas marriage shenanigans and Deb/Quinn then yeah, it would fit right on their programming schedule.

It's hard to top Trinity Killer and Rita's death. Anything following season 4 was going to look weak in comparison but I thought they did a great job with season 5.
