Arrow Dinah Laurel Lance/Katie Cassidy Thread - Part 3

Though nothing is 100% confirmed yet, it's pretty hard to not believe it's her that's killed off. And it pisses me off so much. There are only 3 main characters left on the show that I actually like, and that's Laurel, Thea, and Diggle. And that will be cut down to 2.

If these last batch of episodes don't impress me, I'm ****ing out. Only thing that will get me to watch again will be the crossovers.

So...you're not even watching a show about Green Arrow for Green Arrow?

I was. But Oliver has turned into probably the most uninteresting character besides Felicity.

#wednesday mornings look like...

Only 3 more episodes until the series finale.

There l not much evidence to prove Laurel in the grave. It all for show just to mislead everyone

If this is all to mislead people, I will give the show the biggest applause they ever had. But they aren't going to go out of their way to mislead people like this, that's way to much effort. We have Katie almost slipping up at HVFF about cleaning out her trailer, Charlotte letting it slip that Quentin is alive.

Wow, you a complete apologist of the show if you are naive enough to say there is not much evidence. Everyday for the past couple of weeks, there has been more and more evidence popping up.

I agree. If it is a big mislead, they deserve a heavy round of applause. But it does sound like Laurel is either dead or, at the very least, out of commission for the rest of the season. (I will personally hold onto the hope she ends up in a coma until the episode comes, and then I will accept it if she does, in fact, die.)

R.I.P. Arrow.
The least popular (and, unfortunately, I am in that small minority of fans that like her and I have done since season 1 and also during season 2 when everyone and their dog hated her) of the main characters being killed off will not hurt the show for the majority of the audience, or so I would imagine.

The majority of the audience not being bothered by this doesn't mean that show isn't hurt by it. Have a very great day!

God bless you! God bless everyone!

There is no evidence that she is the least popular character on the show at this time.

Well, you are right that it would be difficult to factually prove at this moment. I would have to dig deep on twitter and several forums as well as ask as may people as I can find, in order to provide evidence, and even then that might not be enough. I still feel pretty comfortable and confident in saying that Oliver, Diggle, Felicity, Sara, Roy and Thea have gone over with the audience better than Laurel has. They were never hated like she was in season 2, and even last year, when she started to train and become a vigilante, people stopped hating her, but I still do not think that she got as strong a reaction as other main characters have gotten.

Laurel is my 2nd favourite Team Arrow character after Oliver, and my fourth favourite character on the show when everyone, including villains, is taken into account, and I have always found it to be a pleasant surprise when I found other people who considered her to be one of their favourites. I always felt that I was in the minority, both in real life and on here.

wow I'm surprised a lot of you on here like Laurel. Laurel is an awful character. at least they way they have written her on the show. Arrow took a huge step down by forcing her to be the Black Canary so fast. she took a few boxing lessons with Ted Grant and now she can fight crime? Oliver trained for 5 years. Sara (who as far as I'm concerned is the REAL Black Canary) trained with the league of Assassins for years to become the Black Canary. they should have slow burned Laurel becoming the Black Canary through about 2 seasons. I NEVER believe it when I see her with Team Arrow. at least Thea had 6 months STRAIGHT of rigorous training with Malcom Merlyn.

I think the show runners realized their error by killing off Sara and forcing Laurel to become the Black Canary so fast. if anything they should have kept Sara alive and on team Arrow, and left Laurel as the assistant DA who can help get them intel on the legal side of things. that would have made much more sense. a lot of fans like myself never bought into Laurel as the Canary and the show runners will be correcting that mistake if they kill her off. plus, Team Arrow is way too over crowded now. kill off the weak link.

We're 4 years into Olivers "island" and nothing has really showed us how he became badass. He was already a good fighter by year 2/3.

Laurel knows enough self defense to take thugs in s1/2, not to mention that everyone learns differently, she could be a type of person who catches on quickly. They don't have her do any fancy footwork.

knocking down thugs that break in her house with simple self defense moves (while still losing the fight) in seasons 1 and 2 is not enough for her to all of a sudden fight and beat league of assassin warriors. it's ridiculous.

and even still, in the flash back scenes, Oliver at this moment isn't a world class fighter. so he still has to train like he has non stop in season 1. it's just not believable at all when I see Laurel taking down league of assassin fighters. we literally see Laurel take a few boxing lessons from Ted Grant and all of a sudden she's ready to jump off rooftops and defeat world class fighters and dodge gunfire?

The problem in that case is not just that Laurel didn't train. The problem is , as we've seen in just about every storyline, they do not show everything. Laurel could have spent 3 hours a night for 2 months training with Ted and Nyssa, but the show only shows 5 minutes of that, which is why it comes out as unbelievable. Not everyone gets a training montage.

She trained with Nyssa before taking on LOA members. I agree that it was too soon for her to be able to take them on. I didn't lose sleep over it though.

Spideyville makes a good point that we do not know how much she trained with Grant and Nyssa though. Nyssa would have been a great trainer too. After Ra's, Malcolm and Oliver, she was the leagues strongest member in recent years.

Laurel is an assistant district attorney. she has a full time job as a lawyer which means only a couple hours in her spare time to train. that is not enough to take out league of assassin fighters who dedicated themselves their whole life to get trained by Ra's Al Ghul himself. and that's not enough time to learn how to jump off rooftops and dodge bullets. they should have built her up with a slow burn as she learns and trains and then maybe in season 4 of 5 she dons the outfit and it becomes believable.

better yet, Sara should have stayed the Canary and like I said earlier leave Laurel to be their partner on the legal side of things to help the team get convictions on the bad guys they catch. that makes more sense and works better. an assistant DA sometimes spends 16+ hours working cases nonstop. how does she have time to wear all those buckles and fight crime at night? how does she have time to hang at the Arrow cave all the time or go to Nanda Parbat repeatedly? none of her becoming the Black Canary makes ANY sense.

Laurel doesn't work at her job. She's had plenty of time to train. She also had self-defense training before that.

Sara was never a suitable Black Canary. Laurel makes more sense than her. Have a very great day!

God bless you! God bless everyone!

Training has nothing to do with characterization. It doesn't make a good or bad character. Oliver hasn't trained for 5 years. He's only trained for a couple months at this point in flashbacks. Have a very great day!

how has she had plenty of time to train to fight LEAGUE OF ASSASSIN members? and she still does work at her job. there has been scenes (although not many) of her at the precinct as an ADA. an ADA puts in countless hours of work everyday. she put in a couple hours in her spare time for 2 maybe 3 months. no way you're skilled enough to fight assassins. maybe street level thugs who have zero training but that's it.

and why does Laurel make more sense than Sara? because that's how it is in the comics? that may be true in the comics, but they way they have written it in this show, it makes more sense for Sara to be the canary. they should have written it to where Laurel was on that boat with Oliver. then all of this would have been a moot point.

not to mention, Katie Cassidy just isn't believable at all as a crime fighter.

I honestly feel like Laurel would not have become the Black Canary until end of season 3 or season 4, at least that's how it was originally intended. It wasn't until the Flash got picked up that suddenly costumed superheroes became a big thing on the CW and suddenly everyone needed a costume. Just look at how long they took Roy to get to Arsenal.

We are not interested in your tired old arguments. Anyway at this point any Sara fan who is smarter than a gerbil wants her to stay on LoT. Going from being the leading lady of that show to one of Felicity's not so amazing friends would be something to wish on a character only if you really hate them.

I think that was the original plan. to have her build up to becoming the Black Canary over 2 or 3 seasons. would have been much better that way. and you can tell that was the original idea when the show first aired. for some reason they decided to speed up the process and it just, for me, didn't work. you can tell it was completely rushed. they should have stuck to the plan.

I'm sorry. I thought this was a message board where discussions happen....
