Days of Future Past "Director's Cut": The Official Matthew Vaughn Thread

I just really wish Fox would lose all their control over the Marvel properties, particularly X-Men. I dont care if they ended up going to Paramount or Disney, either would be an improvement over Fox.

Granted, this seems like the best option, better than Wolverine leading a group of C-list mutants certainly, but there is so much big screen potential from the 40+ years of X-Men stories and Fox just keeps pissing away great oportunities to bring them to life.

Just like the original comics.

The original comics dealt with issues of racism and prejudices.

Are you being serious? Because I just can't tell anymore.

The comics have ALWAYS dealt with the themes you mentioned, but guess what? The original team were teenagers.

So, teenagers in a comic book are taken serious by you, but because they are in a film it will obviously be about teen drama and angst? Where did you even pull that from? Did Singer's first two films have teen angst? No. Well this is his story. Has any of Vaughn's past movies incorporated teen angst? No. But, he's the director?

So, basically you're just pulling nonsense out of your ass right now.

I can't believe that someone is excited about teenage angst. Forget themes about racism, lets delve into teenage issues!

I don't think I had any nonsense in my ass??? Whatever the case may be, teenage angst was not the main theme of the X-Men comics. Sure there were some side themes in there but it never took over the main story and the main focus. What was in there was only to relate the heroes with the reader. If this is anything near the likes of melodrama romance teen movies where heart ache and teenage angst are the main issues, then this movie will be terrible.

You didn't answer my question.. where the HELL did you get this "teenage angst" dribble from?

Since it's Singer's story, I don't think he's going to look to emphasize any teen angst aspect. Every comment he has given has emphasized the Xavier/Magneto relationship as the most important aspect of the movie.

Why the HELL did you say it was in the original comics?

I guess that means you can't answer my question.

I don't even know what the term "teen angst" is even supposed to mean. Acne trouble? Trying to get into R movies?

Ok, so chase doesn't want to see this movie because apparently Vaughn and Singer are going to make it all about "teen angst", whatever that means. And that's obviously because the X-Men will be teenagers. Teenagers = Angst. Duh.

But, chase does want to see an X-Men reboot that is more faithful to the series. You know, the original 5 discovering their powers and learning to control them... as teenagers.

It's basically teenage problems. We saw a bit of it in the trilogy with Rogue and Bobby in X1 and 2 as they couldn't get busy, and then again in X3 with the Rogue/Iceman/Kitty love triangle.

If all the X-Men are teens in First Class then we may get a bit more teen romance issues etc. It won't be the focus of the film though (like Twilight), and I think the prejudice against mutant will be more of an issue.

So teen angst = teen relationships. Got it.

Wonder if they're going to go the route of casting actors in their late twenties for the parts of teenagers that they usually seem to do.

It would be funny if they got an actor in his late 20s to play Cyclops who was played by an actor in his late 20s in the original films.

Haha, I didn't think of that!

Cast, not casted.
Uh, they just signed a director. Casting will happen when it happens.

Yeah when we are sitting here two months from now and the cast is just getting put together if that, they'll only be filming in the fall. But hey, when it happens I guess. I get the logic here though. Maybe they will cast as they go, a few days before they film such an such scenes. Perfectly fits Fox's mold.

I miss the days of debating with posters who had well articulated view points and clear arguments that were solid.

FaT_tONle and chaseter leave so much to be desired. :csad:
