šŸŒŽ Discussion: Civil Rights, Affirmative Action, Critical Race Theory, Systemic Inequality, and Racism - Part 4

World News
Lets get one thing straight, how the media calls it or how they report about it...is their thing, they have to deal with it on their own.

But Government officials or the president calling it "chinese coronavirus" is ****ing **** and who excuses it is **** too.
There is no excuse for them to help spread racism.
This virus has an official name and its not "chinese coronavirus"...that is a racism and helps only spreading xenophobia.

The Government activly putting blame on china and chinese is far worse than the idiots of the media clickbaiting or so.

You can be sure that if the virus started in America, Trump would not be calling it "The American Virus" but COVID-19 or Corona Virus. Suddenly he wouldn't care about being "accurate" anymore. When has he ever cared about accuracy?

The plague of Justinian in 541-542 AD was the first recorded Black Death-related pandemic in history and one of the deadliest. It was named after Justinian I, who was emperor at the time. Since Trump considers himself somewhat of an emperor, it's only fitting to name COVID-19 after the emperor at the time. It should be called "The Plague of Trump".

If you think those articles I referenced are clickbait then you don't know what clickbait is.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Especially when the "right" thing is apparently contributing to violence against fellow American citizens.

"Poor picked on Trump! He's only the leader of the free world with more power, information and influence now than any other person! How dare we expect him not to take cautions to inflame social unrest during a literal worldwide emergency! Can't you meanies stop attacking Trump and pay more attention to how when this story first broke that some reporters used the words China and Chinese in ways that were obviously not about casting racist aspersions?!"

But this is where we are.

Literal world wide lockdown. Tension everywhere and the fault does lay partially at doorstep of the incompetence on display daily from the White House... But sure... Lets absolve Trump and the GOP of their continued dog whistle racism that does contribute to an atmosphere of fear for some in our population already dealing with all this.

We get it... You think there's nothing wrong with dog whistle racism for ****s and giggles.

This surprises none of us.

You're a proven liar, period. On more than one occasion. You don't have any business throwing personal attacks my way when you claimed I said something that I didn't and were proven wrong immediately after. When I point this out, you repeatedly tuck your tail between your legs and run off. The dog in your avatar is appropriate.

Yep... Big ole liar. That's me. Gotta be.

Who do you continually carry water for again?

Careful... I might have a bag of Reese's Pieces or some M&M's laying around here.

As anyone that has followed this back and forth know I don't tuck tail and run from people that think Skittles is an equal to a firearm. Talk about cowardly... But I digress...

So... I'm a "consistent" liar?

Cool beans.

I wonder what term could be used for a person that continually defends racists, racist dog whistles and always tries to deflect to something else when ever talk of systemic racism is the topic?

Don't answer... WE ALL KNOW ALREADY.

Okay guys settle down now. No personal attacks in here from now on. Keep things civil.

Trump, his cult and the Chinese government can go wrestle mud to the death for all I care but leave the people out of this. As president, it’s Trump’s duty to protect all Americans, Asian Americans, included. If he’s as smart as he claims he is, he can figure out a way to get back at the Chinese government for what they said without putting his people in the way. But let’s face it, you’re not really his people unless you’re a certain race.

Again debate is okay, but it needs to be civil. I issued an informal warning to stop that and one didn't and got an official one. So I suggest we end it now.

Im well aware what clickbait is, what i find more strange is your arrogance that you think everybody automaticly replies to what you say.

If you want to defend racism then so be it, i dont care...support it for all i care.
But downplaying it or going "the media did it first" is just dumb.
Especially considering the same administration that defends its racism, is the same one who on a daily base tries to sell the idea that all criticism about it, is just made up.

We even have pictures of Trumps notes where he used a sharpie to write down "chinese coronavirus".

If you want to defend or excuse it, do that...but it doesnt change the fact that the administration should be better than this.

If you were not replying to the headlines I posted, then what headlines were you referring to?

My argument was not, "they did it first!", It's that the media also used these terms which was fine then but now it's not.

Have read about the increase in racist attacks which is always horrible to see. I mean we didn't go around attacking Africans when Ebola was the big thing, some common sense folks.

Trying to find a silver lining and the only thing I can think of is that this will hopefully get China to shut down a lot of these wet markets or at least introduce regulations on things not to be sold.

Did Ebola have the whole world on lockdock and people forced to quarantine like this? Not that it justifies the racist attacks now at all, but maybe some people feel more aggrieved.

I don't know if the wet markets would get shut down permanently. They have been shut down in the past several times but keep coming back because of the rich.

This video is quite informative on the subject of wet markets.

I was not talking about any headline because im not a freaking dork who listens to headlines of articles in the first place.

Again, the media is responsible for its own actions and it doesnt matter if it was fine or so if they use it.
The same media the very administration that daily tells the world is not to be taken serious, not to be listen etc...should under no circumstances use the same inflammatory language because the administration is what people should use as example.
The administration using a deadly virus and calling it "chinese coronavirus", painting a crosshair on every chinese persons back, is 1000 times worse than the media using sensationalism etc to tell a story.

What Trump is doing is pretty much branding Asians as another Yellow Peril. He obviously would like that kind of fear and paranoia again towards anyone of Asian descent. It all goes towards serving his purpose of making America white great again.

Uhhh... Kinda here. We had Nigerians come to Texas for work and some of the locals used Ebola panic to justify saying some very hateful things about them.

What an idiot. So he thinks that people can only catch it off Chinese or Asians and not anyone else? Of course Trump giving it the term "Chinese Virus" would make stupid people think that and that everyone else is safe or disease free.

Let's face it, some people would rather go and have a full body contact party with other contagious white people than even come near a completely virus-free Asian. :o
