Disney's Frozen - Part 3

Frozen marks its 16th straight weekend at #1 in Japan with an estimated 2.6m and a total of 238.1m. That is still just an estimate, and keep in mind last week the estimate was over 400k lower than the actual number.
The 16 consecutive weekends at #1 ties the record set by Spirited Away. Sadly, it looks like 16 is where Frozen will stop since both Maleficent and Edge of Tomorrow open next weekend and it is virtually impossible that both would under perform enough for Frozen to take a 17th straight weekend.
Still, less than $6 million to go to pass Spirited Away as the highest grossing movie ever in Japan in U.S. $.

I thought both Tangled and Wreck It Ralph were both much better than Frozen. Better characters and stronger scripts.
I love all three films, but Frozen is the one that has really stuck with me. The combination of music with the less then typical story.

I like both Tangled and Frozen. it's hard to say which I like more, because I like them for different reasons.

Tangled was more a traditional love story, while Frozen turned fairy tale conventions on their head.

I love "I See the Light" and I prefer Menken's style of music more. However, Frozen has more songs that I like.

Rapunzel is so freakin adorable ( and I saw a lot of myself in her ), while Elsa is smoking hot!!! ( Oh, yeah, she's complex, reserved, and has cool ice powers, too ).

guess if I had to choose, I'd say I like Tangled just a tad better.

I'm a sucker for love stories........

and blondes...........

Weekend actuals are out for Japan, slight increase from 268m Yen to 274.38m Yen ($2.7m U.S.). 238.2M total

Frozen, Lion King, Tangled, Hercules, Tarzan, and Aladdin, are my favorite Disney animated films of all time,

in no order, Frozen, Tangled, and Beauty and the Beast are my all time favorites!!

needless to say, Elsa, Rapunzel, and Belle are my favorite princesses ( in no order ).

If I had to choose, I'd say B+B is still my favorite overall, though.

Once Upon a Time cast Elizabeth Lail as Anna and Scott Michael Foster as Kristoff.

Elsa has not be cast yet. Maybe they will wait until SDCC.

Same here (replacing Hercules with The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Tarzan with B&TB...though I like Tarzan too).

I liked Jungle Book as a kid too. I actually have a copy of the soundtrack signed by the guy who played Baloo.

I forgot about Jungle Book , I also loved that movie as a kid. Speaking of isn't Disney working on a live action Jungle Book film?

Yeah, Jon Favreau is directing it...I also remember the 1994 live-action Jungle Book that Disney did.

They're also FINALLY doing the Hunchback of Notre Dame stage musical in the US - they're doing previews this year and next year. I hope it'll make it to Broadway.

(Yes there was a Disney's Hunchback musical that ran in Germany and went darker than the movie, even having Esmeralda die like in the original book. IDK if they'll do that in the US version, but I know Frollo will be the archdeacon of Notre Dame in it instead of a judge.)

I like Tangled more! I just found it more fun and the animation is stellar. But Frozen has a lot of catchy songs!

I like rapunzel more than Anna. Anna was a bit dippy but rapunzel was cool right at a time when the closest female hero was bela swann.

Of course tiana is the coolest though. The strength of rapunzel. The epic songs of frozen. She's just the coolest

I actualy didn't find Tangled or Frozen to be in the same league as some of Disney's best to be honest.

Frozen is up there with the best--Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin--but I'm not sure if it's better than them. Same ballpark though.

Tangled is a fun film. I know everyone likes to say Tangled is The Little Mermaid of this possible new renaissance, because they have similar plots, but to me it is more The Great Mouse Detective. A very cute little movie that paved the way for true innovation a few years later.

I've always loved The AristoCats. And Fox and the Hound.

The Fox and the Hound made me cry when I was younger. :csad:

I do hope this is another series of good movies.

Disney had a great series between 1989 and 1999. Little Mermaid, Rescuers Down Under, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan and Tarzan.

The next 10 years, outside of maybe Lilo and Stitch, I wasn't crazy about any of them. A lot of still haven't seen because I'm just not interested.

Then after 2009, I liked Tangled, Wreck it Ralph and Frozen.

It's hard to do a top tier because I do like the classics, Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty. My wife really likes Lady and the Tramp. So it's almost to use a sports analogy like ranking a current star to a legend from years ago.

Emperor's New Groove should get honorably mentioned alongside Lilo & Stitch.

Did you not like The Princess and the Frog or Winnie the Pooh?

I'm looking forward to Big Hero 6 since it is both Disney and (loosely) Marvel, but we'll see.

I can never rank my actual favorites. I'm always like "Peter Pan, Lion King, and Robin Hood are my favorites... And Beauty and the Beast... Oh and Little Mermaid and Hercules... And I forgot Snow White and Tangled..."
