Disney's Frozen - Part 4

I am sorry but it's pretty shocking this movie is the worldwide phenomenon when other Disney and Pixar movies are superior to it in every way. For example, Toy Story 1-3, Lion King, Up, Wall-E, The Incredibles, Little Mermaid, Mulan, Wreck It Ralph, Brave, Big Hero 6 etc are better than Frozen. Anna and Elsa are cool but there really isn't anything special about either of them and their story arch in this movie is average at best. The movie also shoe horns a villian into the movie in the last ten mins which is kinda laughable. Olaf was the only funny character here. I think the soundtrack which is admittly catchy is what made this movie a hit ( particularly with girls). The movie isn't bad but it's easily the most overrated Disney movie of all time.

An IMO, might have gone well in your post, at least once. :)

Listening to children talk about this movie, and the lessons they learned from it, certainly tells me why it is as popular as it is.

Yea I should have said in my opinion. Frozen isn't bad by any means, just extremely overrated IMO.

with the passage of time, I can admit that.......I still like Tangled more than Frozen.

I still like Menken's songs ( and style ) better than Frozen's music.

and.........I still like Rapunzel more than Elsa. :ninja:

edit: But Elsa is still awesome.....and hot!!

Bought the sing-a-long DVD last Tuesday....so have watched the film several more times since then......

I prefer Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph to Frozen. Better scripts, more cohesive stories, more varied characters.

But man, now Frozen is EVERYWHERE. Kohl's has a huge section of their children's department devoted to it, and the commercials for the Let It Go contest on last night's American Music Awards were relentless (and very annoying, to me). Disney is *really* milking the movie's success, to the point of hysteria.

So I'm wondering,

Why is Elsa a lot more popular than Anna with little girls?

I think it's a combination of the "Let It Go" song, the ice powers, and the prettier hair/dress (she is presented as more glamorous).

Anna is the more interesting character with a more interesting journey throughout, IMO.

But I like all the characters. My 3 year old niece calls me the Duke of Weasletown (Weselton).

The merchandise for Frozen is insane now. Any thing you can imagine there is a Frozen branded version of it. I don't think I seen any other Disney movie with this amount of hype and merchandise.

I remember when most were doubting Frozen. It easily became one of the biggest films of all time, and arguably the most culturally relevant in decades.

I think the problem was that teaser trailer featuring Sven and Olaf goofing around on the ice, both going after the carrot. It made the movie look more like an Ice Age movie (with the Skrat/acorn stuff going on) than a big Disney Princess movie.

Anybody know how Big Hero 6 is doing? I've barely heard anything about it.

It won its opening weekend against Interstellar. It has done 150 million in the States thus far and nearly 50 million elsewhere. I don't know if it has opened in all markets though.

Happy birthday Frozen!)

Love Elsa. Of course best in Frozen. Without her Frozen would not have been such a success. My favourite character. And perhaps the most beautiful in the last few years.:hrt:

as much as I do want to see the story continue, I'm always wary of Disney sequels.

We'll have an idea of what kind of quality they can come up with when the Frozen 6 minute short comes out. I'm guessing the short will appear in front of the Live action Cinderella (I wonder how many Frozen fans will see Cinderella just for the short?:cwink:)

oh?? what's the short going to be about?

Synopsis

In Frozen Fever, it's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa is experiencing her first cold, and her icy powers may put more than just the party at risk. Olaf, the snowman, will also make an appearance in the short.

The short was announced on September 2, 2014, as part of The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic.[1] It will feature a new, original song written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and will premiere Spring 2015

I have Frozen socks.

(I'm going to Disney World next week, I figured I should look the part when I go) :oldrazz:

It would be cool if they explore the universe a bit in frozen 2. Have a girl who can control fire, another that controls greenery etc.

Plus epic diva songs.

That sounds cool, Elsa and Kristoff barely interacted before.
