Disney's Frozen - Part 4

Plus Anna is kind of a dork. That's more of an attractive trait to us guys.

So, I am kind of obsessed with Christmas (it's my favorite holiday by far). I have multiple Christmas trees in my house. One of them is a Disney-themed tree. Of course, I had to get some Frozen stuff for it this year.

I got a beautiful Elsa ornament and a big Olaf plushie to sit next to the tree. I am happy. :)

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ all-new short Frozen Fever, which welcomes Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf back to the big screen, will open in theaters on March 13, 2015, in front of Disney’s Cinderella, a live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale.

Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, and produced by Peter Del Vecho and Aimee Scribner, with an all-new original song by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, “Frozen Fever” marks the first project reuniting the Oscar-winning original team from Disney’s Frozen.

In Frozen Fever, it’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk.

Worried that you won’t be able to wait for the Spring? Our Ultimate Frozen Trivia Quiz will have you re-watching Frozen again and again to get all the details down, which should get you part of the way there.

Frozen Fever will be in theaters on March 13, 2015. You can see a trailer for the live-action Cinderella right here.

One Year Later, ‘Frozen’ Merchandise Remains Hot for Holidays
Disney’s “Frozen” isn’t showing any signs of thawing at retail this holiday — a year after the blockbuster toon debuted.
Shelves will be well stocked with merchandise tied to the film, with shipments of “Frozen” dolls, costumes, books, games and other products having increased 470% between August and October versus the same period last year, according to data provided by Panjiva, which tracks the global trade biz. The August to October period is when retailers typically prep for the peak holiday shopping season.
In fact, shipments of “Frozen” products in the U.S. are more than double the combined number those for last year’s favorites, “Sofia the First” and “Doc McStuffins,” also Disney properties.
The interest in “Frozen” merchandise orders from retailers doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
Stores typically don’t offer a considerable amount of movie merchandise unless the film is a proven property or based on an established brand. “Frozen” now certainly meets those criteria, given that the film is the highest-grossing animated film with a worldwide box office haul of nearly $1.3 billion since its release in theaters Nov. 22, 2013.
But retailers also have been encouraged by consumer interest in merchandise related to the property — and don’t want to be caught without anything to sell as some were last year when some “Frozen” merchandise was hard to find come the holidays in 2013.
Disney Consumer Products said it has doubled the property’s presence at retail this season to meet strong demand for everything “Frozen.”
In addition to strong homevideo sales, “Frozen” has been a major revenue generator for Disney elsewhere throughout 2014, with the property having sold more than 3 million Elsa and Anna dresses this year. An estimated 2.6 million children planned to dress up as “Frozen” characters during Halloween, according to the National Retail Federation.

The continued interest in all-things “Frozen,” other Disney properties for younger audiences, as well as Marvel and “Star Wars” related products, should help boost Disney Consumer Products past the nearly $41 billion figure it generated in 2013.
Disney already has more plans for “Frozen,” launching 16 themed food and health product categories between fall 2014 and spring 2015, including fresh apples and grapes, juice, yogurt, bandages and a complete oral care line. New “Frozen” products also will be released around the “Frozen Fever” short from Walt Disney Animation Studios, that will debut in spring 2015.
But this holiday, merchandise featuring Elsa’s Snow Queen has beat out Anna products by 74%, Panjiva found. The “Frozen” Snow Glow Elsa doll by Jakks Pacific has appeared on top toy lists for the season.
The film’s singing snowman Olaf also is far outselling the more traditional Frosty the Snowman by 77% during the holiday shopping season, according to Panjiva. Sales of Frosty the Snowman merchandise fell more than 30% between August and October. DreamWorks Animation owns the rights to Frosty through its acquisition of Classic Media.
“Disney’s ‘Frozen’ has shown explosive momentum and continued popularity well beyond the movie’s box office life,” said Josh Green, CEO of Panjiva. “Retailers, who feel confident the ‘Frozen’ craze is far from over, are betting big on the Disney blockbuster as a major driver of holiday shopping sales this year. Based on our analysis, ‘Frozen’ is set to be the clear winner of the 2014 holiday season.”

Overall, the total shipments of goods coming into U.S. ports from August through October rose 5% over last year, while shipments of toys were up 3%, according to Panjiva.
The projected top sellers are expected to be toys based on “Paw Patrol,” a TV series for preschoolers starring a pack of puppies, as well as Zoomer, a robotic dog, with orders from retailers related to the latter property up 300% this season.
Shipments of Mattel’s Barbie dolls rose 32% between August and October, while there are large numbers of orders of “Doc McStuffins,” “Monster High” and “Sofia the First” dolls, joining “DohVinci,” “Little Live Pets,” Elmo and Nerf as the more popular toys at retail this season.

If they don't give Rosie O'Donnell a cameo role in the sequel or anything animated for this, I will be shocked. She has been giving them promotion every single day on The View with how much she loves the film.

I just got Idina Menzel's Holiday Wishes Album. It's a really good Christmas album I recommend getting it. I loved her rendition of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You". I'm picturing Elsa as she's singing with another "Let it Go" sequence Elsa using her powers to celebrate Christmas with Anna and Olaf.

Also her duet with Michael Buble' for 'Baby It's Cold Outside' got me think they should cast him as Elsa's love interest in the movie sequel.

I asked a four year old girl yesterday.

She said she likes Elsa better because she wears pretty dresses and she has magic.

Elza is more visually interesting than Anna. I think that's a big reason.

My 3 year old niece prefers Anna. She has an Anna dress and wore it today to see Frozen on Ice. I think she is in the very small minority who prefer Anna in her demographic.

This dog has great taste in music....

I’m not sure it’s very small...I saw tons of kids in Anna costumes when I was in Disney World earlier this month. Probably not as many as the Elsas, but still lots of Annas.

Frozen has definitely taken over Disney World, though. We went to the sing-along show, and it was REALLY funny. It starts with Anna turning up on stage looking for Elsa, who’s hiding somewhere, and then she goes off to look for her while they bring out two narrators to tell “the story of Arendelle” (the story to the movie) and play clips and the songs with the words underneath so everyone can sing along.

The narrators are hysterical. One of them started singing Let It Go, and the other stopped him, and he said, “I’m sorry...I love that song, and you just never hear it anywhere!”

He also tried to start with the story with “It was a dark and stormy night...”, and when that didn’t work, he said, “A long time ago, in galaxy far, far away!” before the other narrator took over. When she got to the part about “Coronation Day” he chimed in with “Oh, I love their instant breakfasts!”

They also kept messing around with Kristoff, who turns up on stage looking for Anna. He walked on stage, and the girl narrator said, “It’s Shawn Cassidy!!!” and the guy narrator explained, “Kids, that’s 1970s Justin Bieber.” Later, Kristoff comes back and the guy calls him Kris Kristopherson by mistake.

Basically, it had a ton of jokes that had the parents rolling. :funny:

They get through every song except Fixer-Upper. Finally Anna comes back and Elsa makes her big entrance. And they tell everyone how great they did helping with the story of Arendelle, that Elsa leads everyone in one more song (guess which one?). And it snows in the theater:

It’s really super-cute, and it’s a lot of fun. There was a dad sitting next to us who sounded like he really just wanted to get through it, since his kids had clearly seen the movie a ton of times, but after it ended, he said to me, “That was AMAZING!” He couldn’t stop laughing through the whole thing.

I saw Anna and Elsa in the parades as well. They had a meet & greet in Fantasyland, which had an 85-minute wait at 8:15 in the morning. Another time it was 2 hours...which isn’t bad, I’ve heard it’s been anywhere from 5 to 8 hours. :wow:

^Sounds like fun :woot:

They've gone and taken over Disney California Adventure too (well, Hollywoodland):

There's also Do You Want to Draw a Snowman drawing classes and, come January 7, a stage show (likely the sing along from Disney World, if I had to guess), a snow play area and a stage how in Disneyland park across the way in the theater in the new Fantasyland Faire.

I'm going to spend New Year's Eve at Disney World with my significant other. I leave in about a week. Crazy! I haven't been to a Disney theme park since I was in a stroller (so I don't remember most of that trip). I'm pretty excited.

I was told that meetings with Anna and Elsa are already booked for that entire week. I wasn't planning to meet them really (I'm more interested in rides and the Christmas parades/shows/whatnot), but Frozen keeps on trucking with its cultural impact and insane popularity.

I am going to a show involving Frozen characters and the holidays. I am very much looking forward to seeing that!

Also, I know that Cinderella's castle lights up at night to make it look "Frozen." Being the sap that I am, I will probably cry at the sight of it. I saw some pictures of it last year and was stunned at how beautiful it looked. I am still not prepared for how gorgeous it will look in person.

It's amazing how much of a phenomenon this has been. A sequel might make more than Avatar 2 or at least give it a race for its money.

If Disney knows about anything, it's marketing. Take something popular and run it right into the ground so you can squeeze every possible dime out of it. But it's show business after all so there's nothing wrong with that model.

Maybe they should just rename Disneyland "Frozenland" and be done with it.

The scary part is that Frozen-mania shows no signs of slowing down. I thought for sure it would've trailed off once spring and summer rolled around, but nope. Can't walk 10 feet in a store without running into some Frozen display of dolls, clothes, movies, etc.

It's the new Cars, except it was actually good.

They've actually been doing that with the castle at Christmas for the last few years, they've just re-themed it to Frozen. When I was there in 2007, it was a show where Cinderella wished for the castle to be covered in magical ice (the other Disney characters were there as well). The Fairy Godmother appeared, and lit the castle.

This year they changed it so Elsa turns up and lights up the castle. We were joking when we were there that there's another show of Cinderella complaining about being bumped from her own castle.

I didn't see the Elsa version of the show on this trip, since we were having dinner on Main Street during the show, but we could see the castle light up from the window. It's really cool.

There is a spot where you can kind of get a picture with Anna and Elsa at the Studios park. Way back where the Oaken's Trading Post is, there's a Frozen playground (well, it's a room with snow), and there's a spot where you can pose for a Photopass picture. They add an animated Anna and Elsa into the picture.

Well she got cool powers, the song "Let It GO", her persona is very relatable.

I just kind of find her more interesting. Maybe it's the X-Men fan in me talking, but the whole "misunderstood and feared because she's different" thing just speaks to me. The smartest decision that Disney made with this whole thing was NOT making her the villain like they initially planned (BTW watch the making of special where they explain step by step why that change was made, it's quite interesting).

Anna is awesome, and really likeable to be sure. But she's a bit more on the standard side when it comes to character traits.
