Disney's live-action Pinocchio

So the wooden boy?
a. An actual puppet strings removed digitally? (dated and probably the most challenging - but might be the most satisfyingly "true" in it's awkward and limited movement )
b. Actor as puppet- practical makeup- prosthetics? (Hope not)
c. Full CG puppet, with mo-cap'ed actor? (The most likely)
d. Somewhere in between?

What do you want to see?

I bet they'll do something like that mid-90's live-action movie.

1940 was a scary time.

Not like today.

....:o
Yeah, today everything is all fun and play. Seriously though, it's quite fascinating hearing my 79 yo mother describing how terrifying the evil witch and stuff in Snow White felt back then at the cinema (yeah, she obviously watched a rerun in the 40s).

Paul King exits Disney's live-action Pinocchio film

Beloved Paddington director Paul King is no longer attached to direct Disney's live-actionPinocchio movie, according to the project's cinematographer, Seamus McGarvey.

“I don’t think it’s a secret anymore, but the film has been cancelled over the holidays, over Christmas,” McGarvey revealed to Discussing Film. “The director basically pulled out of the film, for um, family reasons. Disney are trying to find a new director, but yeah I read those reports that Tom Hanks and all those other people, but yeah, they’re trying to get it going.”

i hope Guillermo Del Toro has still Interest , because a Real Puppet and Animatronic Whale would be a nice thing

Del toro is doing his own animated Pinocchio film for Netflix.

I've skipped them all so far but this one I would see at the drop of a dime. Imagine that Monstro recreation.

I really wanna see a darker version of the coachman and pleasure island. I want nightmares

What a shame. Maybe rob marshall can replace him? The lost boys can do the cell block tango

It’s funny this wasn’t part of Disney+? But maybe they’re waiting to see how the other live action adaptions go before trying this

Darn I was hoping De Niro ... he's totally become Geppetto.

I do hope we get at least some Italians in the cast.

Probably be relegated to the villain roles in their own story; the Stromboli / Mangiafuoco role.
The Fox & Cat , although Deniro & Pesci as human versions the Fox & Cat would be pretty hysterical.
Actually rethinking it with De Niro as Geppetto.

The con-men the Fox & Cat; Al Pacino(fox) & Joe Pesci(cat) would be great.

And Leonardo DiCaprio as showman Mangiafuoco/Stromboli give him the crazy mustache he steals the movie.

It’s too popular for just Disney+.

Pinocchio is one of their most well known animated films.

Is it though? It’s a bit dated now isn’t it. It’s not like it came about in the 90s like Aladdin, beauty and the beast and the little mermaid. I reckon some people would know it but maybe they’re worried others would ignore it like they did with dumbo

I don’t think when it came out matters.

Cinderella and Maleficent both did over 200M domestic and the originals came out around the same time.

Dumbo is a very simple story that didn’t just translate to the grander scope of a live-action feature. Pinocchio is pretty packed with big fantasy.

Oh my gosh zemeckis! Wow this film will be amazing!

Zemeckis' movies are always at least visually picturesque, if not necessarily always narratively strong (his filmography is a mixed bag). Seems a reasonably well-fitting choice for a live-action Pinocchio movie.

I wonder who will play Stromboli? Vincent d’ofrio?

As long as this doesn’t follow Disney’s trend of getting lazier with each adaptation, then I’m interested in Zemeckis’ take.
