It just uses known facts to try and convince us the rest is real.

Sure joker works for the mob, sends boats out and tells them to detonate the others, and harvey dent is a D.A, but the rest sounds crappily made, and nowhere near Nolan quality.

Pshhh. Bruce Wayne took the rap for murder. Batman could too... I think it all depends on what the circumstances were and why people would think he's guilty. And I think it would be a very exciting part of the plot.
