Awesome pic, Chris!

I'm a sucker for a good battle scene. :woot:

Do you have an account on www.deviantart.com, may I ask?

Well, I used to. I haven't really been there in a couple of years...not actively, anyway.

Loving all the suggestions for ASM #600, guys. They said they're making it like the thickest comic book EVER! With all new material. No reprinted stuff. Imagine if it was over 100 pages. And to think it's going to be a Doc Ock story where he's a Dr Doom threat level.

I know! I, for one, can't wait to drive my copy home.

For the heck of it.

Every time I look at it, I can't help but imagine Dr. Evil saying "zip it!". :hehe:

Just for the heck of it (and for the benefit of our newer regulars), new and improved pictures:

Holy cow!!!

Those are AWESOME, MP!!!! :shock :applaud

I can't decide which one I love the most. They're all equally cool.

My incorrigible cat, Snowball, ended up treating my old Ottoplushie and several of his outfits as her personal chew toy...

The above is the result of "cloning" him and extensive repairs ^^;

Will the Previews cover be the ASM cover? That would be sweet. And 104 pages? Thats impressive.

^^ OMG!!! Doc Ock, Alex Ross, my god!! Also, Stan Lee? Holy crap! That cover is incredible!

Awesome looking, isn't it? If all this is as good as they're making it out to be, I might just frame this issue :oldrazz: :cwink:

I think that Alex Ross pic of Spidey wrapped in Ock's tentacles is the cover.

They could also have some variant covers for it, being the 600th issue and all.

I didnt think of that but thats certainly true. They gave us varient covers up the yin yang for NWTD, so I'm sure they'll do the same for a centenial issue.

That cover is amazing, a brilliant visual.

Flaming hell, I can't believe we didn't notice this before. Have you guys counted how many tentacle claws there are on that cover?

There's SIX!!!! That must be the new look they were talking about. Ock's going to have six tentacles :wow:

Doctor Decempus?

:facepalm

I always counted his arms and legs, plus the tentacles, that made him "Octo"pus.

It's a nice image, but I don't care for Ross's take on the tentacles. They're a little too reminicent of the film tentacles. I'd prefer a more comic book appearance. But I'll definately be picking this up.

By the way, does anybody know whatever happened to Doc Ock's hideout at the bottom of the East River? Is it still there?

Ah, so we're not going by total limb count anymore? Oh, well...

*sob*

Well yes, that's 8 limbs. But he always refers to them as arms or tentacles. Now he has got 8 arms.

Am I the only one happy that Ock's upgraded like this? :csad: Spidey had a hell of a time just dealing with 4 of them. I can't wait to see his reaction when he sees Ock with six of them.

Assuming that image is accurate to what happens in the story, of course. But it fits with this new look they mentioned, so it probably is accurate.

It's still there as far as we know. Last time it was seen was back in '97. Ock and Carolyn Trainer went there for rest and recuperation after he was ressurrected.

You know what sucks? I drew these Doc Ock pics today while I was sick from school (well actually, I faked it XD) and the ones was me experimenting with broken glass, which looks good considering my terrible drawing skills, and I was going to post them on here to the Lair's approval, but my scanner don't work.

Dear lord, 104 pages?! That's not a comic, that's a TPB! :wow:

I don't know how I feel about Ock getting an extra set of tentacles. He always seemed perfectly capable with four. Of course, Carlyle had six, so Octavius certainly has had a demonstration as to how effective two extra tentacles can be.

It took me a long time to warm up to the movie style of tentacles; for the longest time, though I loved Spiderman 2, I counted the "evil AI" tentacles as one of the things I didn't like. I'm more accepting of them now, but it took a while.

It's all gonna be in the execution. I'm not the wide-eyed optimist of a few years ago, perkily and cheerfully going, "Hey, guys, just hang in there, Joe Q and the gang have it all worked out and it'll be swell!" Now I'm kinda squinty and narrow-eyed and muttering, "You'd better not mess this up, Quesada." (Insert movie-style tentacle click-skreeee here.)

No problem, man. Post it when your scanner gets fixed

Haz, Haz, Haz, how on earth did you dislike the movie tentacles look for so long? I think they're the most badass looking tentacles he's ever had.

Bar none.

Agreed.

But I have faith in Slott. He's a solid writer, and I think he'll do the tentacled one justice.

Remember, Dr Doom threat level :hehe:

Oh, yeah, they looked awesome, but they had that whole minds-of-their-own thing and that bugged the heck out of me for the longest time, since in the comics, Otto doesn't need any fancy AIs to multi-task.

I hope so! I really do. I'm just... wary of being disappointed, I guess. :} I'd rather expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised by the best (like I was with SSM and The Dark Knight) than expect the best and be unpleasantly surprised by the worst (as with, well, nearly everything in Marvel comics these days).

Ah I see. Well I wouldn't worry about that. If they were ever going to give him A.I. in his tentacles, it would have been back in 2004 when Spider-Man 2 came along. It ain't going to happen here.

Although I have to confess I really don't see any big similarities between those tentacles there and the movie ones:

They look like his regular tentacles to me, expect the claw tips look nice and sharp.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm keeping optimistic about this. The way Slott and Wacker have been raving about Doc Ock's story, it really does sound like it's going to be great.

104 pages, too. That's a TPB. Just think of how much Ock greatness they can squeeze into that.
