what'd you guys think of that episode of Ultimate Spider-Man that featured Dr. Strange against Nightmare?

I'm watching SINISTER, basically livetweeting it because watching a horror movie at night is no bueno for me, and I ended up having a lovely twitter convo with Scott Derrickson, mostly about how his movies terrify me and stuff.

He's such a swell guy. I'm rooting for him hard now :)

I'm shocked -- shocked -- that no one has asked this already (and almost as shocked that I'm asking it), but what do people think his costume should look like? I'm going to go out on a limb, and suggest that a brightly-colored Medieval tunic, leggings, and cape might be just a touch too much for live action.

But what about a vest/trenchcoat combination? It could still convey a certain prestige and aloofness (and have a high collar), yet still look good onscreen. Something like these:

(That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel is able to find a way to make the cape work -- it does for Thor, but he's from another realm.)

^ It looks really good, but I think it would need a lot of justification to explain why someone is wearing something that you'd normally only expect to see in a Ren Faire. I'm not familiar with Dr. Strange's origin, so maybe there's already an explanation there?

Dr Strange should just wear generic black leather. He can look like the movie X-Men. :o

But seriously, avoiding one extreme doesn't mean falling into the other, which is why I asked the question.

Watching Tyrant and thought Adam Rayner would make an interesting Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch is a cheeky bastard.

Oh my, wonder what he may or may not possibly perhaps maybe be cookin up :awesome:

I hope it isn't, but if he gets it that's alright

I still think Nikolaj Coster Waldau should get the job.

or Pedro Pascal or even Peter Dinklage. Anyone but cumberbatch...

This been posted? http://www.**************.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=104284

“As far as I’m aware, even if that was the case, it couldn’t work out because I’m doing a little play called ‘Hamlet’ in London,” Benedict Cumberbatch told MTV of rumors that he's on Marvel's wishlist to play Doctor Strange. “So I don’t think I could even if that was in the cards. It sounds like a fantastic project. It’s a shame if I miss out, but who knows?” Were there ever any talks?
“I couldn’t possibly comment,” he replied. While Cumberbatch is making his San Diego Comic-Con debut for DreamWorks' Penguins of Madagascar and The Hobbit, it's believed Marvel will announce the English actor as Dr. Stephen Strange during its Hall H panel Saturday. What do you think?

Oh my god i can't wait until cumberbatch retires from acting forever, thats what I think.

Because he's such an overly obvious choice and it shows a lack of creativity, in my opinion anyway, on Marvel's behalf in terms of this casting - going safe instead of looking elsewhere. That said I'm willing to give him a chance and wouldn't be opposed to him entirely - I'd just rather a more out-of-the-box choice.

So Bats were you sad that Stewart was Prof X?

I have no strong feelings either way if BC is Strange.

To me, an obvious choice is obvious for a reason. Tom Cruise wouldn't be an obvious choice, for example. There is a halfway decent "fit" with Cumberbatch.
