Nice. I liked the original draft of Prometheus before Lindelof took a s**t on it.

Leto is out of left field. Also, He and Paul Rudd drink form the same cup of eternity, it seems. It's funny how he's older than Benndict and Tom, but looks the youngest.

Yea, recently re-watched Fight Club a couple of months back. The fact that it came out fifteen years back makes me feel every one of my 33 years. It blew my tiny mind the other day when I learned Leto was 42. He's got 4 years on me but sure as heck doesn't look it. I would have guessed he was about 30 tops, and only that old cause I remember him from Fight Club.

How upset would people be if Strange didn't have his signature mustache? I feel like Stark rocks it pretty well already.
He needs *some* kind of facial hair.
The handlebar mustache Leto is shown with was "canon" for a time, although the goatee is a bit more of a well-known look for him. If, and this is still an *if,* Leto *is* playing him, then maybe they chose just the pornstache to distinguish his look from Stark's goatee.
Any thoughts on how Strange will fit into the Avengers, personality-wise? I've been shuffling the deck of casting choices, and I'm at a loss for who among the supposed contenders would be the most interesting in a solo film AND in the Avengers roster. Mulling them over actually has me losing my excitement a little. Probably because Hardy and Cumberbatch are fan faves for many roles, and Leto's been discussed for a while (I think?). Don't get me wrong -- Leto, Hardy, and Cumberbatch are all fine actors. And I'm really excited for this particular adaptation. Having just reread The Oath, I'm thrilled that a Marvel film is delving into a new "world" of sorcery, mysticism, astral projection, etc. Obviously Marvel's got a plan for Doctor Strange, but I'm really hoping they cast someone who can make the character stand out for more than just costume, powers, and atmosphere.
Leto delivered a great performance in Dallas Buyers Club, and I recently rewatched American Psycho and Fight Club for fun. He's been a solid, versatile supporting character. He could very well bring to the Avengers fold a great personality, a mix of brazen arrogance and refined elegance. Hardy is an intense actor with great range and who's shown brilliant transformation. He brought a lot of character to a fairly simple supporting role in Inception; was fantastic as a troubled, ticking timebomb in Warrior; and of course, he was bat***** as the lunatic lead in Bronson. It'd be fascinating to see what he'd do with Strange (though, to me, his "Bane" was an odd, albeit interesting interpretation). And Cumberbatch has a great, unique screen presence, delivering as villains (Star Trek Into Darkness and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) and as heroes (mainly thinking Sherlock). For me, Cumberbatch is the standout choice, but this is probably because I love his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes and feel his "stamp" on Stephen Strange (with the same dry seriousness and limitless arrogance) would be a welcome addition to the Avengers chemistry. It's doubtful he'd repeat any Sherlocky mannerisms though, for better or worse, so it's really a toss-up.
With ALL of this said (and it HAS been a lot)... I really hope Marvel surprises us with an as yet unmentioned, inspired, out-of-the-box casting. I don't know who this would be, of course, since "surprise" means I haven't thought of him yet (...or her??). Chiwetel Ejiofor is a name that really piques my interest (kudos to whoever posted this suggestion in the previous thread). Now I dont want to get into any race/gender-bending arguments. I am all for a well-written character that is still (somewhat) faithful to his/her source material, and I am certainly not proposing changes for the hell of them. Moreover, this isnt to discount the potential brilliance of the aforementioned actors. Im just pining for a unique, exciting casting and a complex, unexpected interpretation. Chris Pratt and Paul Rudd seem inspired choices for their films, bringing a background of comedy into the action/superhero fold. Though likely darker than GOTG and Ant-Man, Doctor Strange seems like an incredible opportunity to do something different, and I'm hoping that whoever the ultimate choice is delivers.
Phew. After that mouthful, I'd love to hear thoughts on Doctor Strange's personality on-screen and how he'll fit in with the Avengers.
I think goatee would be the way to go. Just a stache might look too 70s Village People.
