Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 1

Maybe you will, maybe you won't, but I never take anyone who says they're not seeing a movie before a trailer is released seriously.

But I'm really not gonna be seeing Batman V. Superman, because Ben Affleck is teh failz, and Gal Gadot is too skinny, and Jason Momoa is too big and not blonde, and there's too much fighting, and and and... :o

Ramirez would be cool. Hes a good actor and he would be good for opening up the MCU with foreign heroes

Would not mind at all if he gets it. Hes been up for/getting a few profilic roles lately even though hes been around for a minute. I think Hollywood is trying to push him into the forefront

After Llewyn Davis I really wanted Oscar Isaac to be looked at for Strange. I'd also love either Bardem or Ramirez. When Derrickson was announced, I thought his work with Ramirez might open him up to a role. And Oscar was cast in Star Wars, so I thought that would take up his schedule instead.

Really happy that Ramirez is being looked at to join this.

(I'm really hoping Lupita's SW involvement wouldn't interfere with a potential Black Panther film… she is my dream Shuri!)

Isaac wouldve been cool too

OT: Im not really a fan of Shuri being that big of a major player in BP and if she is I would want her to be younger. But id be fine with Lupita as Monica Lynne

Pfft like that has ever stopped an actor. :o But seriously someone could do the singing for her

Besides I wouldnt have Monica be a singer or at least that wouldnt be her sole role. But that's for the BP thread, not here

That is because you deal with a lot of fanboys on the subject matter. The only films that have me no matter what are Star Wars, Superman, Batman and anything with Keira Knightley, Emma Watson or Cate Blanchett.

I'd take Ramirez in a heart beat. Fine actor, who I have liked since Domino. I'd love Oscar and would be extremely happy with him, but I don't know if it is possible with Star Wars.

I think Carol's still rumored, but by multiple sources, to show up in AoU - they could slot a movie for her in 2017 (maybe even up against a Wonder Woman). They could reference BP (or Wakanda in some fashion) in AoU, slotting him for a 2017 or 2018 movie. I'd love it if it was co-led T'Challa-Shuri movie.

Sorry that the Edgar Wright debacle soured you on Marvel movies. Honestly, they're the only things that get me to the theater these days, and that's not changing anytime soon! :woot:
Suzanne, I just don't see it. If Avengers 3 is coming in 2018, and it probably will, you already have slots taken up.

Ant-Man, 2015

Cap3, 2016
Strange, 2016

Thor 3, 2017
GotG 2, 2017 (Direct lead-in to Avengers 3 with Thanos)

Avengers 3, May 2018

Yeah, I don't know where everyone thinks they are going to put these films. If they are going to add an extra film each year, I'd be looking more towards IM4 and a Hulk film before BP or a Miss Marvel film.

Hmmm… have they announced a 2018 date for Avengers 3?

Either they push to 2019 for A3 or they go to 3 movies per year, per what Feige said. OR… they hold off on a Guardian's sequel until after A3?

The likelier case might be 3 movies in 2017. Marvel knows there's clamoring for a hero of color movie and a female-led movie. That's, honestly, my biggest issue with the studio right now, is that it's taking so long for them to get going on that end.

Whether it's Phase 3 or 4 (likelier), Black Panther and Captain Marvel are happening. There's simply too much demand from fans, and these characters are simply too high profile. We might have to wait a little longer, but they will happen. DarthSkywalker's Phase 3 lineup looks probable to me, which means Phase 4 could look something like:

2018 - Hulk 2
2019 - Black Panther
2019 - Iron Man 4 (highly doubt RDJ's going quietly into the sunset just yet)
2020 - Captain Marvel
2020 - Dr. Strange 2
2021 - Avengers 4

And this is assuming Marvel Studios doesn't go to 3 films per year between now and then.

Black Panther Dammit

I agree. Marvel's a company that boasts that they are expanding and taking risks, and yet they haven't had a minority or a female-led movie and it sounds like they still won't have one anytime soon. It's rather disappointing so far considering that they could have easily introduced Black Panther or Captain Marvel.

They should do Monica Rambeau instead of Danvers. Two birds with one stone. But yea i'd still like to see Black Panther. Hopefully Wakanda and Vibranium is further referenced in Age of Ultron.

Edgar Ramirez was a badas Ares in Wrath Of The Titans.

I hope Clea is the love interest in the movies.

Well my want for Captain Marvel is a diversity thing. I'll admit that

Black Panther is just one of my favorite characters and I think his movie has so much potential. The diversity thing helps too, but I just think it has the potential to be the greatest Marvel movie when done right

I think John Glover could be a somewhat Sinister Dr. Strange

I have a feeling that whatever role Ramirez has been "talking" to Derrickson about, it was likely for a supporting character and not the role of Stephen Strange. That said, I would prefer him in the lead role over Jared Leto.

Also, I haven't seen an interview with Ramirez in quite a while, so I hadn't noticed how much he seems to be losing his accent. It's getting pretty light these days, imo:

Damn I didnt realize he lost his accent that much either. It's still there but not nearly as prominent as it used to be

I'm 99% postive that Ramirez is up for Mordo, as opposed to Strange himself. And I think he is a good fit.

That said...... I think he could be a great Strange too.

Benedict Cumberbatch.
Edgar Ramirez.
Pedro Pascal.

I'm watching the Doctor Strange animated movie, which is pretty dark and, I think, probably one of the better, if not best of the Marvel Animated products.

Even though I really wanted him for Strange, I think I need John Cho as Wong. But make Wong powerful and more of a friend/colleague to Strange rather than his servant. I guess, like Watson to Strange's Holmes.

I'd really love to see Jack Huston play Dr. Strange. I think he'd do an excellent job.

I feel that the current Marvel casting rumors of Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, and Jared Leto are for the most part criteria of what Marvel wants for this movie instead of who they are spearing for. I don't see Cumberbatch or Hardy having time for a contract obligated Doctor Strange movie(s) plus the Avengers. As for Leto, if he was going to be casted as Marvel's master of the mystic arts, I find that to be ok but not ideal. Yet that's just my opinion.

I think it will be Leto.

Sherlock & Bane's schedules would probably be too overloaded.

Shame, because Cumberbatch was always my pick.
