^ i couldnt stop laughing the first time i saw that entire convo lol

Out of the ones in that list, i'd love to see Ewan, Jake, Oscar, Ethan. Last place is Matthew, and i definitely dont want Jared, sorry.

I don't know if i believe this, they all seem too high profile (too expensive) for Marvel

Too high profile and expensive for Marvel??? The only high profile actor is Matthew McConaughey. I would put Jake G second but the others while known aren't big Alist actors. Jared Leto or Oscar Isaac is a major star?? Yes Leto won an Oscar but exactly how often do you see this dude acting in big films? Heck small ones for that matter. Leto turns up every now and then and it's always a supporting role. He's never been a headliner that I can recall.

Erm, what?!!

How on earth have you come to the conclusion that they are looking to make the character British? Are you seriously suggesting that McGregor would either adopt a Ben Kenobi-esque English accent for Strange or that we'd actually get a Scottish accented Dr. Strange? I wouldnt be so quick to discount the notion that McGregor would play Strange as he should be - an American.

Oh Brother, please re read the post clearly Sir.

Don't know much about Strange, but damn it if i don't hope that shortlist is true, pretty much a list of my favourite actors right there.

@Nokio just cos the actor is British doesn't mean the character will be. You know Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Beast for example

Oh Brother again! Please reread the post Sir. I never said that the character will be British. I said I want them to cast an American in the role. We have a lot of talented actors here you know. Yes I know they can cast a British actor in a role and he portrays an American. I also said that I HOPE MARVEL DOESN'T MAKE STRANGE BRITISH AND NOT THAT THEY WILL MAKE HIM BRITISH. I'm confident that he will be American but some here has suggested that it be better if he was British or they see him being more british then american.

This is Marvel we're talking about and not Fox. The character will more then likely be American.

I can defintely get behind the Obi-Wan rumor. But if they are going younger get Leto.

Their both the same age, well EM is only a few months older the Leto. Hawke is a year older then both and MM is two years older but the four of them are in the same age range. I checked the ages of the actors listed with Jake and Isaacs being the youngest at 33 and 34.

Why does the actor have to be American?

Why not? It's my preference. I just feel that America has a lot of talent. We don't need to go abroad. It's like with James Bond, how come an American actor can never play him??????

Jake G is my top pick among the six, followed by Ewan.

Because it's an incredibly silly restriction.

No, Dr. Strange isn't remotely like Bond.

Steve Rogers? Yeah, he should probably be played by an American. Strange is nowhere close to being "this guy is an AMERICAN ICON!".

Hell, as was already pointed out, Batman & Superman have been played by Brits, and those (particularly Supes) are actual big time American icons.

Why limit your resources like that? America does have talent. People have talent, doesn't matter where they are from. I don't really care if an American plays James Bond. If the best choice is British, there is no way in hell they should say "oh well."

Quoting just to save this post. For posterity. Just in case he changes his own post. I think I'll be reading this little piece of comedy-perfection to my grandkids someday. :funny:

Ok if you say so. Still stand by my words. I never said he would be depicted as British for certain, Never! Say what you want. I didn't say it.

If I jhadmy choice I'd want an actor that is nowhere near this wheelhouse. We know the typical actor's actors have been suggested time and again but I like to be surprised once in a while with a guy no nerd loves but has untapped potential.

Jay Baruchel for you then.

Yes, I (and, I assume, everyone) gets that. The fact that you want... no, require... an American to play Dr. Strange is the part that's hilarious.

"Calling Aussies that can pull off a convincing American accent."
"Hahaha. Got you. We don't need you. BLEEP off."
"And Brits of a certain age, can you roll your R's like Hugh Laurie?"
"You can? Because you're theatre-trained, and feel inherently superior? Doesn't matter! Get the hell outta here! 'MURICA! 'MURICA! 'MURICA!"

(Ewan! Or Hawke!)

McGregor, Hawke, and McConaughey would be my choices based on that list. Gyllenhaal just strikes me as a tad bit too young for the role and I'd prefer that they get someone closer in age to RDJ/Ruffalo. Besides, he's my choice to take over as Iron Man in a few years. I'm not familiar with Isaac. But he strikes me more as Baron Mordo material.

Dr. Strange, as addressed here before, is one of the characters that can be played by such a crazy variety of people. I believe even females have been fancast for him. To limit oneself to casting only an American for this role, or honestly any, is kind of a headscratcher to me.

The way they cast nowadays I doubt they even looked here in the states first.

We've had an Australian and an Irishman play him. So not the best point to make. If you go into TV Barry Nelson (American actor) played him in the 50's.

Having said that I think Jake Gyllenhaal would be good.

Gosling? I just can't picture Strange looking bored all the time

I'd like to see Gosling or Isaac grab it. Believe it when I see it for Gosling doing this or Suicide Squad though. I don't really care for Leto, but I'm not opposed to anyone who's on the list.

I think back to the frenzy surrounding the Batman casting for BVS and how Ben Affleck was on no one's radar (seriously, remember the almost daily casting rumors? You had reports saying Scott Adkins was up for the role, and if that producer is to be believed, then it was never anyone other than Ben).

So I'll take the fact that neither Pedro Pascal nor Oded Fehr have even been rumored as a good sign and consider everything else to be utter BS ;)
