Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 2

Based on Gosling lack enthusiasm for sequels I don't think he'll do it. I like Oscar, Hawke, Ewan the most.

I picture Strange with intense and interesting facial expressions. A permanent blank stare and quarter-smirk wouldn't feel right.

Jake G is my top pick out of the rumored names, and I've been outspoken here as to how much I like him for the role.

Marvel met with RYAN GOSLING? He's all sorts of wrong for the role. I'd rather have him be Booster Gold, Ghost Rider or Archangel if he plays a superhero.

I'd much rather have Liam Neeson or Viggo Mortinson in the role. Strange needs to be an older man who goes through an mid-life crisis.

Out of the rumored choices I go with Oscar Isaac.

Great actor and he has an aura of mysticism and intellect.

I just wish they'd announce already because I get sick of the "this guy is almost confirmed" stories every other day. The latest ones of Ewan Mcgregor and Keanu Reeves aren't helping matters for me.

Of the latest batch of rumors I'd go for Isaac, McGregor, or Gyllenhaal over the rest.

Gosling? I hope MARVEL doesn't make Strange Canadian. "By the Hoary hosts of Hoggoth, EH?" etc.....

Ewan would be a cool choice. Gyllenhaal, I don't really see it. He has too much a boyish wonder on his face (at least in the roles I've seen him in). I want someone who can get a weariness in their face for the role. Who knows, if they go with Gyllenhaal he could always surprise. Marvel hasn't miscast anyone thus far.

I'll always prefer an unkown or lesser known actor with the main characters, but the idea of McGregor really does intrigue me moreso than Phoenix, or Gosling or any of these other names. Still, I haven't disliked any MS casting choice, so Im sure whoever they get will rock it.

Extreme weariness going on

Scott Derrickson has now stopped following Mcconaughey and John Cleese and indeed Reese Witherspoon on Twitter. I'm inclined to think that could mean something too! And are they watching us?

If Ewan got the role. Would you be pissed if he portrayed Strange as Scottish? Was just thinking that all the superheroes are American so far (apart from Thor and Gotg who are aliens). Would it give a little bit more to have a foreigner in the mix or does Strange need to be American? We already have black heroes in Falcon and War Machine.

I would say I'd prefer if Ewan gets the role for him to be Scottish. I see nothing in Doc Strange that suggests he needs to be American.

And movies are much more worldwide than the comics, so to have a non-american lead would help make the universe a bit more real in the sense that not everyone with powers/abilities comes from one country.

Of course if they cast an american then i wouldn't want him to do a scottish accent.

Ewan McGregor does a TERRIBLE American accent (like, almost Orlando Bloom/Gerard Butler-bad), so if he got the role, I'd want him to be Scottish, too. :oldrazz:

How about Scottish pretending to be American pretending to be Scottish?

I wouldn't disagree with that. Think he'd be a great choice.

His link seemed quite assumed by Variety though. I found it interesting that Leto is "aggressively pursuing" it though given his acting breaks.

I'm also quite surprised Cumberbatch's name hasn't re-surfaced - Maybe that Hamlet play really did completely take him out of contention?
