Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 2

I am going to wait until Marvel confirms this. Remember how close we were with Phoenix?

It's a fairly safe, meh choice to me honestly. They could have really nailed it with someone like Pedro Pascal or Oded Fehr.

If Benedict is cast, the resulting fangasm would knock the earth of its axis and introduce a new ice age.

Hell Yeah!!!!
My choice from the very beginning for the most obvious reasons, because he fit the role in every single aspect.. this is probably the best casting decision MS has made so far and they are known for always* getting the right actors

*Norton, Tyler and Howard count as beginner mistakes

He had long been my second choice after Viggo Mortenson (who I had dumped as my first choice after he criticized CGI movies and replaced him with Jake G).

WB is becoming more and more interesting. I've been on team Marvel but WB casting picks as of late have been inspired and diverse. I'm can't believe I'm bored about Strange now. My interest level just went in the toilet. I'll see the movie but I'm no longer excited about it with Cumberbatch's casting.

Does anyone actually think he'd be bad in the role? I don't think there's anyway he disappoints.

I just hope the fangasim pushes this to a good box office. Will internet fancasting lead to actual box office dollars?

I remember the fangasim about Snakes on the Plane.

People usually complain when its an out of the box choice...now people are complaining because its "predictable"?

Then again, you can't please everyone...but I'm not gonna criticize casting just because its not surprising.

They weren't going to cast a black man for Doctor Strange. Did WB cast a black man for Batman?

He'll be good but its not very inspired. When RDJ was cast or Evans or Pratt, there's that "oh my god why didn't I think of that" moment. That's not happening here. Mostly because any person who even dared tried to fan-cast Dr. Strange new Cumberbatch was going to be brought up.

I don't think he'll be bad at all, the choice is just so uninspired and boring to me.

Seems kind of apt to repost this right about now.

Quite a coup for Marvel. Not only is he seemingly well cast for thr role but it keeps him away from DC. Even though he has a relationship with Warner he probably realised that any role they had for him was going to be limited. Working with Marvel as one of their central heroes is going to be a consistent moneymaker, which is something every actor needs regardless of what they say about artistic integrity.

Guardians of the Galaxy has made over 750million dollars, Doctor Strange will be just fine.

He'll do a decent job. I was curious to see if they were gonna pull an RDJ and bust out someone from the blue, but it is what it is.

I think the kind of old-money, rich-white-dude entitlement is intrinsic to who Batman is as a character in a way that doesn't really have an analog with Strange. You could make Strange any number of races (as long as you kept him American) without fundamentally changing the character.

Honestly, I don't get it.

We've decided to cast an actor who is incredibly talented and fits the character in every way.

People's reaction:

"Meh, predictable."

That's like saying they shouldn't have cast Patrick Stewart as Prof X because he was too right for the part. Honestly:whatever:

I for one couldn't be more excited about this pick. I've been a huge fan of Cumberbatch ever since I stumbled upon Sherlock way back when. He's very talented, and he's a perfect fit for the role. With him, you KNOW you're going to get a quality performance.

Almost two pages before people started complaining about people complaining. :whatever: Ah internet, you so predictable.

Well since I'm a bit underwhelmed by the news of Cumberbatch, I know it's a done deal. I've learned to accept things in life and usually when it's something disappointing it pans out to be true not matter how much I hope and pray otherwise that it won't come to pass. If it's being reported by Deadline then it's a done deal 99.9%

Exactly.
